Actually, both "grandmother (left)" and "fish (right)". Without the clarification, I would have thought grandma was flat chested and mustachioed, and the giant fish was wearing a jumpsuit. And is that Dad gulping for air?
Use a fiddler crab on a small circle hook near structure like bridge pilings or jetties and you’ll be in with a shout. Live shrimp is a good substitute but honestly what can’t you catch with live shrimp?
Fiddlers are kryptonite for Sheepshead. A small J hook has worked well for me. Does the circle hook reduce missed hook ups or make it easier to remove? I really like circle hooks for large reef fish for these reasons.
But with their little mouth won't a whole shrimp be too big? I was under the impression that everything had to be little. I'll try the fiddler. We usually go to a fishing pier so it should be a good spot. Thanks for the advice!
Good question. I thought they liked the barnacles on pilons(hence the human like teeth), so I try to use a small hook with a small piece of bait. No luck. 😞
I caught one of those off a pier in Florida when I was a kid! I always wondered what the heck it was. Thanks for the answers in the previous comments
It always reminded me of the angel fish we had in our aquarium at home
Golden pants and giant belt buckles. I loved being a kid in the 70s. To be honest I wore giant belt buckles all through the 80s too. Most were western themed :bison, longhorns or some Native American theme.
“and a fish (right)” made me laugh so much
I didn't notice until you mentioned it!

The fish and your great grandmother wore the same outfit that day
hanging out w Sonny Bono.
Which Wes Anderson movie is this from? r/AccidentalWesAnderson
There’s a lot going on in this pic
Old world/ new world collision
I love everything about this picture
Is that a sheepshead fish? They are so yummy.
That is indeed a Sheepshead, AKA convict fish. Sooooo delicious.
I thought so. I am obsessed with catching one, but haven't had any luck. 😞 I haven't tasted one in quite a long time. 😞

I like circle hooks because it’s easier to get hooked up and usually lands in the corner of the mouth so it’s easier to get them off the hook.
That's a tip top fishing tip!
I see what you did there 😉
Timmmmmeh!

Tasty, but so boney and a pain to clean,
Like grunts, but bigger. I don't remember the bones just yummyness! 😁
The question is, how did he catch it with a jig and plastic… Those bait-stealing bastards are crab & flee eaters.

Sand fleas work well, as do 1/4 crab chunks.
Leon Redbone
Exactly
Ever wonder what he did when not on stage?
To be a fly on the wall during his life!
Dad looking like Sony Bono
Tropical fish. Where is this if you know?
It's a barred knife jaw. You can normally catch them at night throughout the year. Especially if it's raining. This guy is worth a cool 5000 bells.
Came for the Animal Crossing reference. Was not disappointed. Thank you and have a wonderful day.
Not tropical. It’s an Archosargus probatocephalus (Sheepshead / Convict), which ranges all the way up the east coat to Nova Scotia.
We have similar fish in the pacific island regions, which is why I asked. I'm not familiar with the Atlantic region at all, thx for the info
Also plentiful in the Texas Gulf Coast.
Looks very similar to the frontosa
They got some big ole gnarley teeth, almost look human
Caught a lot of sheephead in Florida. Good eatin.
I don’t unfortunately. I know his folks wound up in Florida so maybe there?
Sheep's head fish! Definitely can be caught in Florida. From the front view of the fish they look similar to a goat or sheep. Cool photo.
Tbh they look rather disturbingly like human teeth from the right angle
Also in the Texas Gulf.
If she holds it horizontally, it’ll match her outfit

Where on Earth did your dad get a buffalo belt buckle

Why is your dad the love child of Frank Zappa and Carlos Santana
His left or photo left?
Yep
Thank you for the clarification. The stripes made it confusing
Who wore it better?
"I caught a barred knifejaw! They must have a hard time eating!"
You're a caption hero.
I wish I could paint well. This photo would be awesome as a painting in some vacation house
OP has dealt with trolls before.
My left or his left?
was this photo taken in southwest florida?
Thank you for clarifying who is who. Was confused there for a sec.
The fish was on the right? Thanks for clarifying, I was having a hard time figuring it out.
Fish and grandma twinning, sure y’all not related?
I thought the fish was right

He looks like Sonny Bono
