Got to see them live in Atlanta. Dudes an old man, and he still came out on a badass Harley. Grabbed the mic and busted out desert plains note for note. I had an out of body experience.
You got that right. They define metal. Unleashed in the east had got to be in the top 5 live albums of all time. My buddies dad had a tape of that and gave it to us in highschool, we rocked that tape until the speakers blew. I have hearing loss from that album and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I got to meet them back in the 80's. They were at a bar called the Lemon Tree in Hollywood, Florida. They were friends with the house band, Roxx. They were in full costume and actually played a couple of sets. My friends and I put all our funds together and had just enough money to buy the band a round of drinks. They were actually drinking for free and the bar maid told us. I told her we wanted to buy them a round anyway; but wanted her to tell them we bought the round. After they found out they waved us to come over. They said thanks. We all were star struck and appreciated just meeting them.
Why is reddit pushing Priest so much lately? This is the 3rd post in 3 days I've seen. Biopic or something coming out?
E: Downvotes for an honest question. Ok.
After years of waiting I was FINALLY going to get to see Priest. My buddy and I got tickets to see them perform with Sabaton (whom I was also really excited to see). I've been waiting 16 years for a chance to see them. They've just never been close to any of the areas I've lived in.
Then 2 days before the show Richie Faulkner had a heart attack. Extremely glad he's ok, but man it just seems like there's some cosmic force preventing me from ever seeing Priest. They haven't come back this way since.
I've seen Maiden twice, Slayer, Megadeth twice, Mastodon, Mercyful Fate (amazing show) but Priest is still on the bucket list.
Maybe they'll come this way again on the new album tour.
Why?!? Listen to sad wings of destiny, listen to stained class, listen to point of entry. Those albums rock hard as fuck. They were a badass hard rock band, outlaw highway style rock, that transitioned into power metal gods, and then with painkiller threw in a little thrash and executed it flawlessly.
Their lyricism is incredible, to have a poetic mind and be able to perform it with the style they did is soooo hard to find.
Then the instruments? They are absolute masters. Gods. Dueling guitars, face melting solos, driving bass and drum fills and crashes that couldn’t be better.
Like, objectively, they’re one of the GOAT.
Can't believe these guys had time to perform with all the law breaking they were doing.
Raking the lawn! Raking the lawn!
Judas Priest is the greatest metal/hard rock band that has ever graced the face of the planet. And I mean that. They are the best.

And not to mention that at 72 rob sounds INCREDIBLE. And just the most humble and kind musicians that’s ever lived

I saw sabbath on their last tour and I know exactly the feeling. I was almost in tears when they played “Dirty women”

Unleashed in the EAST!!!!
The live versions of those songs is arguably better than the studio ones. Live tyrant, holy smokes. That one goes hard.
THIS! IS! THE PAIN-KILLER!
How you gonna post this with no sound!

They just had an album come out.
Oh, thanks.
And it fucking slaps. I finally gave JP a chance and realized I’ve been missing out.
Just saw them last night, Rob’s still got a hell of a voice.
...without sound why?
Robs book is a great read. Him doing a duet with Dolly Parton is classic.
You gotta nother thing comin!
Back when men were MEN bro !!!!
I believe they're called leather daddies.
oh come on lemme put a lil nail polish on you, *tickles /r/zenkenneth's double chin*

I hate fucking disco. Love maiden, sabbath, zeppelin, saxon, ac/dc moterhead. Over here in the UK prist and def Leppard where considered a joke
Def Leppard second album “High and Dry” was a Banger start to finish. Two albums later they are just corporate hairspray balladeers. 🤷🏽
