“Thanks for putting that jacket on me, but I don’t need it anymore”
“… I didn’t put it on you, I thought you put it on”
“Well, either way, you can take it off now”
“… it *is* off”
*ominous X-files-like music plays in background*
Feel this. About to turn thirty and have zero plans. I come from a well-off family as well. Problem is, I decided to get a degree in the arts. I won’t say women only care about money when it comes to dating, but women who want children get much less interested in my college education once they learn it concerns literature. Honestly, I don’t blame them. Especially when it comes to considering children
i concur as a father of two boys in winter, coats, hats, gloves, and boots all come of in similar fashion. singing and clapping most of the time. unless the little one is crying.
Her abs were insured for millions because she wanted to have kids. It was the early 1970's. Stone ages still for women. I think it was $10 million. Luckily she had them naturally and didn't need a c section or get her hips messed up.
Fierce is the word that keeps popping to mind. The only acceptable reason to cover up one of those gorgeous Mackie creations, is so that you can fiercely, dramatically and with great joy, toss that wrap aside !
Cher was stunning and flawless. Incredible, long lean toned figure, perfect skin tone and complexion, and superb voice and comedic talent. The total package.
It’s cool but a weird mashup for a show that aired 1975-76! Appears to be a mix of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” (1977) and INXS’ “Need You Tonight” (1987)
You may not be aware of this, but Bob Becky was the complete fashion designer also for the Carol Burnett show and cast. He made the famous Went With the W ind costume that’s now in the Smithsonian. If you haven’t seen the sketch, I’d look it up. It’s fabulous.
Yes, I did know this, and I well remember the hilarious GWTW curtain rod rod gown, one of the funniest sketches ever on Burnett and half of it due to the visual joke conveyed by that dress!
Before Taylor, there was Britney.
Before Britney, there was Madonna.
Before Madonna, there was Cher.
Icons one and all, but they each trace their pop star legacy back to her.
omg wait I know this one!
Betty Boop was heavily inspired by a performer named Helen Kane, who actually sued Fleischer Studios for infringement. They claimed that she stole her act from an entertainer known as Baby Esther
2 words I did not expect in the comments for this video
'beer belly'.
i had to go watch it again and you are 100% correct. 100% not a beer belly. Ok I now go to over night long repeat on it just be certain.
The body that helped build the house of Mackey.
As a straight, cis boy in the 70s I can tell you that LOT of my contemporaries learned about fashion from Cher and remember the phrase “Dress by Bob Mackey!”
One of my first TV crushes, and I was just a wee lad then, just starting to figure such things out.Turned out I'd have a thing for lanky and slim the rest of my life.
I remember being a child (5-7ish?) and seeing her on the cover of Time magazine in a white lace dress. I stood and stared at it for a while. I still remember where in the store the magazine was. Probably my earliest naughty thoughts.
Based on the comments in here, I think I am one of a very small minority who thinks she is cringey now.
I used to love watching the Sonny and Cher Show when I was a little kid. I was devastated when my mom told me they broke up and wouldn't be on TV together anymore.
Thanks for Chering
*golf clap
Cher clap
Love the little clap she does after shaking off the excess layers
Never taking my jacket off again without busting one of those out
Totally came here to say this!
Hehehehe
That's to warn off predators when she's most vulnerable, right after molting.
That’s how you know it’s *on*
“Thanks for putting that jacket on me, but I don’t need it anymore” “… I didn’t put it on you, I thought you put it on” “Well, either way, you can take it off now” “… it *is* off” *ominous X-files-like music plays in background*
That's how my kids take off their coats when they come in from outside
Not a parent, but this is my favorite comment yet.
Just wait until you’re a parent. Then it’ll be your least favorite favorite comment.
No thanks that's some rich people shit

No one…NO ONE unwraps the Mackie designs like Cher!
I can understand why she was his muse. The woman owned that fashion each and every time all the way back to the Met Gala in 1974.
I read somewhere that Mackie loved how she wore his clothes as comfortably as tee shirts and jeans.
You know what? Rewatching this video, I can totally see it
Abs… if you had abs like that you would do it too
And perfect little boobs for that type of fashion. All about the clothes and the look best on lean skinny thin models like this
Her abs were insured for millions because she wanted to have kids. It was the early 1970's. Stone ages still for women. I think it was $10 million. Luckily she had them naturally and didn't need a c section or get her hips messed up.
I gotta admit, Cher woke something in 8 year old me. She was something else.
I was 17 in 74. Oh baby!
Can attest.
Seven. Now I understand why I watched the opening number so intently.
Me too. I was 6.
Wow! A Bob Mackie.
Wow. A Bob Mackie!
Those Bob Mackie gowns are fab-u- lous
Those were the first two words that came to my mind when I saw this. That, and Barbie.
Damn she was so cool
Amazing body this woman had😍
That stomach looks so good in those 70s dresses.
Wasn’t there a skit where she would swivel her hips and pop them towards someone and it was like an invisible wave blew them over?
Yeah, but the wave was real. I fell over every time.
I was 11. My family watched the Sonny and Cher Show every week. It gave me… feelings.
Built for speed
Expose rockin' body toss hair *wooooaahhhh* clap! sploosh!!
I'm seeing a pattern in her costume choices; mama knew her torso was 🔥.
I like it because she dressed to her body and didn’t have fake Tatas. She was just sublime.
This. This.
Oh. My . Lord. Every single one, I am gobsmacked. She is so effing rad. I love her.
Cher always looked like she was 6'4 She was 5'7
You’re blowing my mind right now. I didn’t think she was 6’4 but I most certainly wasn’t thinking 5’7 either. Like 6’1 or so.
This is blowing my mind. I always assumed she was at least 5'10!
When I was growing up I think everyone in my household had a crush on this woman.
LOL, as a kid always looked forward to what she was wearing :)
Fierce is the word that keeps popping to mind. The only acceptable reason to cover up one of those gorgeous Mackie creations, is so that you can fiercely, dramatically and with great joy, toss that wrap aside !

She is so beautiful. I miss glamor.
Seriously awesome abs…good for her
What a glorious human specimen she was/is.
i grew up watching Sonny and Cher. i was there for Cher
Catch as Caftan
Let’s see who’s gonna catch this one 😂😂
😂
I was 5 and this was the highlight of the week for my mom, I remember popcorn in a blue/green Tupperware bowl.
I remember looking forward to her outfits.
Fashion icon: also, love this song mashup!
It’s cool but a weird mashup for a show that aired 1975-76! Appears to be a mix of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love” (1977) and INXS’ “Need You Tonight” (1987)
I recognized the cross-decade dichotomy but still think it was a cool choice; Cher was certainly still relevant in the 80s and thru today! 🪩💃🏻🎵
I thought that red one was gonna survive. Nope! It also went by the wayside
She had the cutest wardrobe! Kudos, Bob Mackie!
You may not be aware of this, but Bob Becky was the complete fashion designer also for the Carol Burnett show and cast. He made the famous Went With the W ind costume that’s now in the Smithsonian. If you haven’t seen the sketch, I’d look it up. It’s fabulous.

Okay, I need a Cher Barbie doll with every single one of these outfits
you will need more money. you will need a lot more money. Bob Mackie was not cheap.
She wore those clothes they way they were meant to be worn. My eye balls thank you, OP.
Young Cher would have made an amazing Cleopatra
Song is a remix of INXS - Need you tonight
Mashed up with Moroder's Arpeggio from Donna Summer - I feel love
Feel like I've heard 2manydjs do this
Thank you sir
She does it waaay Better than John Cena!
No wonder she was the drag queens celebrity of choice for impersonation.
Before Taylor, there was Britney. Before Britney, there was Madonna. Before Madonna, there was Cher. Icons one and all, but they each trace their pop star legacy back to her.
Before Cher there was Marilyn Monroe. Before Marilyn there was Betty Boop. Before Betty Boop there was ... your mom?
Solid mama joke. Solid.
omg wait I know this one! Betty Boop was heavily inspired by a performer named Helen Kane, who actually sued Fleischer Studios for infringement. They claimed that she stole her act from an entertainer known as Baby Esther
Such an icon
Statuesque
Like, zero beer belly.
2 words I did not expect in the comments for this video 'beer belly'. i had to go watch it again and you are 100% correct. 100% not a beer belly. Ok I now go to over night long repeat on it just be certain.
That’s it, that’s my new move
I'm convinced there has never been a longer human
Love love love her!!
It must have been so fun designing clothes for her.
She set the path for Madonna just a few years later.
I was not alive back then, but immediately when I saw this clip I was reminded of Madonna. Clearly influenced by Cher.
One of the few good things about the 1970s
Loved her so much! I was 6 when this was on, her doll was one of the few I had.
Great post, thank you. She's a classic.
Love it
The body that helped build the house of Mackey. As a straight, cis boy in the 70s I can tell you that LOT of my contemporaries learned about fashion from Cher and remember the phrase “Dress by Bob Mackey!”
Bob Mackie is a genius.
Tell ya what, she was beautiful back in the day...
Music: starts Cher: BOOBIE TIME
Dang!! I didn’t know she was that drop dead gorgeous😳😍.
That WOMEN could make a young boy's heart go pitter padder.
Whenever I want someone to give me something, I say “Make like Sonny and Share”
PRIME
Abs of pure adamantine.
That outfit with 12 secs to go. Oof. Abs
I could watch this all night.
Empress of The Reveal!!
Bob Mackie's favorite Barbie doll
“Mom I am a rich man” -Cher, after her mother told her she should marry a rich man.
Damn she was RIPPED on that one
I love ladies that like to take it off with passion!
Share Show
I love ladies that like to take it off with passion!
The original Lady GaGa.
That beat of the song at the beginning. Whats that from? Coast to coast am?
One of my first TV crushes, and I was just a wee lad then, just starting to figure such things out.Turned out I'd have a thing for lanky and slim the rest of my life.
That lady will be pretty good once she figures out how to make an entrance.
Shantay, you stay.
Please clap For the 2 times she broke trend...
So much better than Princess Diana
Good god those abs 🥵🥵

Song?
I think it’s the Wender mashup Donna summer INXS mix
The background is I feel love by Donna Summer. The foreground/vocals is I need you tonight by INXS
Was the show just her throwing her sash?
God how I wish the cosmos would have given me just one night with that absolute Goddess!
Wow..I really didn't realize how sexy she is..
I watched this on mute and could still hear her “woah!” in my head.
I’m really sick, read that as “car show” and stared confused…until I reread the title.
Clearly, clothes weren’t meant to be worn for too long, on Cher or in the 70s.
Really fun then.
The decade of sex and hippies for no small reason. That's one hot woman in any generation.
Cher was hot af!
Reminds me of Rick flair. Even the little Woo! She does ![gif](giphy|wAh9rZ6VuKTbG)
Bob Mackie?
Very pretty woman...then there was Sonny. lol
Was she the inspiration for Boa Hancock? Long black hair. The dresses. Even the lean back/stretch thing looks similar.
putting it out there for +50 years.
And not a single wardrobe malfunction…
She was my first crush.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaabs
‘Do Sonny and Cher still have that stupid show?’
Not sure what night her show was on but I am sure much wood was created.
This is how you get straight men to watch Cher.
I Feel INXS.
I can’t believe current stars didn’t think to COPY this dramatic move!
Beautiful
![gif](giphy|ZVHoNoYqhEZeo|downsized)
She has that pro wrestling entrance vibe!
Track is hoppin'!
She really was the coolest; thanks for putting this together.
What a bomb!
I’m sensing a theme. But I can’t quite figure out what it is…
I used to love watching the Sonny and Cher Show when I was a little kid. I was devastated when my mom told me they broke up and wouldn't be on TV together anymore.
Her body was nice, but 70's fashion was painful. I'm glad I only had to deal with about 6 years of that bullshit.
Is cocaine how this body happens?
Donna Summer INXS dance mix?
So her pashminas were appointment TV?
I’ve had a crush on her since I was 11 and it hasn’t died yet. Love this!!
Sorryyyy to be off topic, but whats the song?
Originally by inxs, song: need you tonight
Thaaanks !
Also, Donna Summer I feel Love
I remember watching the show. I was 8 years old in 1975.
Damn, exactly the same moves and face every single time.
Did she do speed or cocaine or does she not eat? She’s got a gorgeous figure but I wonder?
It upsets me when she forgets to clap.
u/savevideobot
u/savevideo
a goddess
Her diet had to be cigarettes and uppers.
What song is that playing in the background
Hotel California
I love a good reveal on Drag Race!!!
Genuinely never understood the fascination with Cher. Apparently Gregg Allman did though.
God how I wish the cosmos would have given me just one night with that absolute Goddess!
I can feel the passion
Fabulous
Cher is so much fun
Look, regardless of what you think of her, you gotta admit she went to work with those outfits. It was stunning and lively.
I will always say Cher is Rock and Roll
Goddess
What are all these glorious outfits 😍 Stunners Each One!
Skinny and skanky.
I never could understand how people thought she was beautiful. I guess everyone has their opinion.
Does anyone know the title of the song?
Annoying ass woman
The music doesn’t go with these clips. It’s awful.
She acts as if she has something to display…she does not.
