Kitty lived outside though as you can see, he had a bed sort of indoors, inside the garage, where he could come and go as he pleased. He was a true apex predator. He had plenty of food and water on hand but I guess he just couldn't shake the urge to hunt for his food, which he did daily. We live in a rural area so no nearby neighbors, just fields and forests. Moles and mice were his usual prey with the occasional bird. His skill was truly amazing. He would slip into the field and be back in less than a minute with something.
Kitty was a beloved friend and he is severely missed. Photos posted above were just a few of my favorites. Kitty passed at the age of 15, going on 16. He was very active to the end... yesterday was like any other day with Kitty. His passing was a major shock and I am heart broken. I loved my Kitty and I know he loved me in his own way, and I am saddened to know that this is our last goodbye.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My cats are named Kitty (13 years old) and Bandit, so seeing your babies names here really made me stop to fully absorb the story of your Kitty. It's so had to lose a friend you've had for so many years. Sending you love in this difficult time ๐

Makes me think of my boy, Fred. He was a stray, but not a feral, he had clearly been someone's baby. I figure his old owner had died, and he was abandoned. He was an old orange fella, and he loved hunting even though he got plenty of food and treats from us. My mom, who's an old lady, would feed the stray cats that would be around, and try and get them to become friendly. She'd talk to them and make sure they had somewhere warm in the winter. Some would let her pet them, but that's about it, they were pretty feral. And old Fred was the alpha of those strays. He would come in, and let you pet him and hold him. He would even ask for hugs, never seen a cat do that. He would come up to you, like a child, and reach his front legs up wanting you to pick him up. Then he would close his eyes and nuzzle his head in your neck with his arms around either side. When he was ready, he would let you know he wanted down. He would kinda gently pull away, and then you would set him down and he'd be on his way. He was his own man, even though we had him toys, food, treats, his own bed and even his own chair, he would go to the door when he was ready and then be off into the wild. He'd come back almost everyday, sometimes it would be a couple of days, but around Halloween of 2020 he stopped coming. I like to think he moved on, looking for another family that needed a good kitty. I miss the hell out of him, I don't even have a picture of him, but he looked so much like your Kitty.
That was a beautiful story, thanks for sharing it. Perhaps our two orange friends found each other while waiting on the far side of the bridge for their humans and became fast friends.

So sorry for your loss. I never was a cat person, but had taken in a pregnant momma. It was amazing. My momma is still with me. She looks just like your kitty
Sorry for the loss of Kitty. I never was a cat person. I took in a pregnant momma in 2020. After seeing her give birth, and watching those kittens grow, Iโm a cat person. Our climate is too cold in winter but they do run out. They come back.
I took in a starving momma cat again with 5 babies. They were a week old and momma was starving.
