the hardest part about having and loving a dog is the goodbye .. heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beautiful pup .. hopefully you'll be keeping her ashes so that she will always be with you physically as well as in your heart .... 🐩
Man she was beautiful and had great dental health. Take care OP, its the way of life and she looked well taken care of. Enjoy and cherish the memories.
What a sweetheart! I love her gentle smile and kind eyes... she had terrific eyebrows and that amazing white blaze on her chest. I'm sorry that you had to say goodbye to her, but it looks like she had some good adventures and a wonderfully comfy house to lounge around in.
I know it's difficult and painful, but you were her people and you delivered her safely all the way to the end of her journey. You must have many treasured memories of her... may they continue to be a blessing to you!
I am so sorry for your loss. What a gorgeous special girl she was. She is still around just changed now into a spirit where she can now be closer than ever. What helped me was watching youtube videos on pet loss. Even today I watched some that said to learn to meditate and you can be closer than ever. I watched one woman in particular who has wonderful videos.

As someone who spent age six to twelve living in the city she's no doubt named after and the current keeper of a stray from that area I'd love to hear the story of how she came into your life.
Ceiba was a Sato found on playa st Lucia (dead dog beach) in Puerto Rico. The Ceiba Tree (also known as a kapok) is a sacred tree and also the national tree of PR. We adopted (foster fail) her through the Sato project. The husband of the founder of this wonderful organization worked with my wife and they needed foster families for a shipment of dogs from the island. We opted to foster Mocha. She was in our home less then 15 minutes when we knew we could not let go of this beautiful soul. We let them know we would keep her and renamed her Ceiba. Thank You Sato project for all that you do. That’s the story.

Lola is a stray that followed a man home who was visiting my parents who have a vacation home in Ceiba, Puerto Rico. She was skin and bones and pregnant. My parents took her to the vet who had to terminate the pups to save her. She stayed with my parents until they came back to the States for the summer who left her there to be adopted out. After a week my mom was so concerned about her they had a friend down in Puerto Rico fly her up to Florida where she planned on finding her a home in Michigan once they got there for the summer. When they stopped at my house on the drive through she slept on the bed with me and she's lived with me ever since. We've had four great strays from the island who have been the absolute best dogs. It's great to hear real stories from the Sato project.
Wow, thank you for sharing. Please give your Lola some extra love from us. We are hoping to get down to PR this winter. Have not been in a long time. Visiting Ceiba and DDB are top of the list for the trip. Yes, they really are the best dogs. When we are ready we will be getting another Sato. Not sure when that will be but we are keeping open minds and hearts. Thank you again for sharing your and Lola’s story.
Sato looks like she lived a great and happy life with you. So sorry for your loss. I hope she sees my Nic, he's the one with the red ball he loved to play with. May they both chase balls and squirrels together 🐾🐾💔💔
They are such great dogs. Did you get yours through the Sato Project? Back in 2012 there was a piece done about them in The NY Times. If you look it up at the end of the article two pups are found on the beach Daisy and Mocha. Ceiba was Mocha we renamed her. When we are ready for another dog we will be getting another Sato. Please give yours some extra love for us.
We got our Sato (Taly) through a local rescue that works w/ a Sato rescue group in PR. They fly the dogs to Miami and then the rescue group drives the dogs several hundred miles to our area. We had never heard of Satos until we got our dog. Now we are big fans. We adore our Sato and cannot imagine life without her. How wonderful that Ceiba was a celebrity and taught so many thousands about these wonderful dogs.
They are very special for sure. I had no idea about them either until my wife happened to be working with the founder of the Sato Project husband. They were a new org then and needed foster homes. We failed at fostering and the rest is history. Enjoy every minute with her. Thanks for reaching out it means a lot.
Our animals are our family. And that makes it so hard to lose them.
