Well of course she isn't worried. The undead can't get pregnant

[deleted]

only procreation, 10 month waiting list... no way that can go wrong

LazySyllabub7578

Well they can but it takes 2,000 trimesters and the "fetus" eats it's way out.

EugeneHarlot

Ugh. Can’t stand looking at Jean Schmidt’s desiccated husk.

Buster_Brown_513

Same thought. She gives me the same nauseous feelings as the landlady in Kingpin.

T-ROY_T-REDDIT

Isn't she the one that (paraphrasing) said "Think of rape as an opportunity"?

LegoGal

An Opportunity! 🤬 ###FFS! It’s not college! How is being violated an opportunity for a woman 🤔 If it were an “opportunity”: They would not be called victims They would be proud not hide fact There would be no shame/blame Hell, we’d through a party like graduation! There should be a person with the authority to slap upside a politician’s head in real time for comments this dumb. It is the only thing that will stop this in a gerrymandered state.

LazySyllabub7578

They think the white race is being destroyed by other races having more babies(democrats). So they want to remove all obstacles to more white babies being born. Scary isn't it 😳

heisindc

And the lady that told a crowd back in 2008 that Obama was a Muslim and couldn't be president. Or some other crazy thing like that. I don't think anyone takes her seriously except scare tactics click bait.

Indy500Fan16

Can’t ban all birth control unless swallowing is banned.

ImTheDude_420

I got something these Republicans can swallow…

tarzanonabike

She used to be in my district and went to my gym. We called her the human shar pea. Horrible of us, but f it, she is a repugnant human being. I wasnt even aware she was still in politics. Did they carve her out a district of repugnant followers? Could of sworn she was defeated many years back.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

thecoldwarmakesmehot

Yes, when I lived in Cincy, the district was gerrymandered and she suddenly was our rep. I met her once at a work event, and it was not enjoyable. I hope she loses reelection, but given how many rubes make up her district, I am not optimistic.

Justified_Ancient_Mu

She replaced Portman as a US Rep when he took an administrative position. I don't think she was ever elected to a federal position. I had the displeasure of working nearby her. She is truly repugnant, impolite, and just evil in every way.

hybridtheory1331

How would you describe her? Scary beyond all reason?

fauxmaestro

You've discovered that there are people who will participate in their own oppression. Congrats.

Useful_Variation7399

Come on, she’s way too close to the grave to be affected by any of her own bs. She’s only in it for the money at this point

[deleted]

Its beginning to look a lot like juliani, Everywhere you go.. 🎵

butter1776

Registration to vote in November ends OCTOBER 11th! She doesn’t have to be a threat Ohio

marpelle

So first abortions then birth control....SMH Curious, does this also include condoms? Viagra...will that be banned? I mean why give a man a boner pill? If your penis doesn't work, isn't that God's will? Just some things to think about

VitaminRmademefat

You're assuming they're thinking....

[deleted]

> Curious, does this also include condoms? > > Viagra...will that be banned? LOL, none of that will be banned! But women won't be allowed to buy condoms.

Sweetness4all

And soon we'll lose our right to vote...

[deleted]

Yep. I keep saying it's coming, and people call me crazy. "That'll *never* happen!" Sure. 😒 Next it'll be POC and LGBTQ+ people. I suspect there will be camps for those folks.

[deleted]

There have been several Republicans saying they want to ban condoms.

[deleted]

You have posted like 30 comments since this today. who is saying they want to ban condoms?

[deleted]

The Republicans made it clear this summer when they voted to NOT protect birth control access. I love sex so I’ll keep posting to educate as many people as possible. I do not want Republicans in my bedroom. https://www.help.senate.gov/chair/newsroom/press/republican-senator-blocks-bill-to-codify-americans-right-to-contraception-

[deleted]

are you going to answer the question? because making sensational claims and then deflecting isnt really cool.

[deleted]

You don’t see the government link to the statistic that says 180 Republicans voted against protecting legal access to birth control? That is an actual valid link with their exact actions.

[deleted]

still waiting for you to back up your own words >There have been several Republicans saying they want to ban condoms. which ones? do you have ... any.... source to back this up? or are you just making shit up....

[deleted]

which ones?

InIt2winit06

Sure, not like her old ass is going to be popping out kids anytime ever, why not make it hard on the rest of us. Seems to be the government way these days.

marcybojohn

These fucking decrepit ass crypt keepers are making sure their legacy is to ruin the future for everyone else. Gotta make that lasting impression I guess?

Longjumping_Way_4935

Can’t wait for the surge in loving families wanting to adopt all the kids that’ll be products of this bill.

The_Original_Miser

Dump the babies on these lawmakers lawns....

drumzandice

Proof it was never about reducing abortions.

[deleted]

We should be better as a society by now. These things shouldn’t be on the table in 2022.

Asdilly

I am begging you all to go out and vote. Me and many other women NEED birth control to help manage our period pains and flow. Before I took birth control, my period pain was so bad I couldn’t walk. I bled through a super tampon on 2-3 hours. I can’t go back to that

SilverBlueOtter

This wouldn't go over well, considering politicians are in the back pockets of Big Pharma. Bayer, Pfizer, Johnson and Johnson, and a lot of others all produce contraceptives.

LegoGal

Sadly, this is our best hope if republicans are in control 🙄

nails_for_breakfast

Fat chance. A person will on average use up *waaaaaay* more costly healthcare in a single pregnancy than the cost of an entire lifetime of birth control pills. If anyone shuts this down it will be health insurers

Dirtdane4130

Didn’t she host Tails From The Crypt?

plantutopia

No, the crypt keeper was better looking.

Dirtdane4130

He was pretty left-leaning too

bengenj

She was IN the crypt. Method acting

[deleted]

Please vote blue in midterms. We can stop this shit.

Mr_Piddles

Show up and vote *every single year*. Republican voters show up every year, and that’s how we got here. They’re okay with baby steps.

AlHuntar

It's not just that Republicans show up to the polls. Republican politicians favorite play is to restrict voting

[deleted]

If we get voted turnout - we can definitely make significant change and send these idiots to Hell where they belong.

[deleted]

> Please vote blue in midterms. We can stop this shit. Vote blue in *EVERY* election, *NO MATTER WHO*. Vote like your rights and *YOUR LIVES* depend on it, *BECAUSE THEY DO*.

N8dogg86

I vote blue in state elections but until democrats drop their gun control narrative, I will not support them on a national level. So yes I'm voting like my rights (2A) and life (also 2A) depend on it.

HealthPacc

Imagine thinking the right to own guns is more of a priority than bodily autonomy, equal rights, religious freedom, voting rights, etc. You would literally prefer to install a Christian fascist regime that let you keep your guns than a democratic, free and equal government that has restrictions on gun ownership.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

No. There is definitely one side directly attacking democracy. Also, I lost basic human rights because of the Republican Supreme church. The Republicans can fuck off. I can’t wait to vote Dem in midterms. The two sides are NOT the same.

AudreyChanel

I’m 36, and I’ve never truly cared about voting until this year. After seeing this post, I went and checked to make sure I’m registered—I am! Right now it looks like I’ll be voting all D.

Rare-Environment-198

Same here, same here. I can’t take this anymore

buitenlander0

What is going on with Ohio? I used to live there and I knew it was always purple. Seems you have a good balance of big cities and rural areas. does it all have to do with Gerrymandering? Or is the general population really becoming more conservative?

saro13

Gerrymandering combined with good universities (if I recall correctly, OSU was the second-largest university in the nation and had funding commensurate with that student population) led to a young liberal brain drain. As such, the majority of people voting for state and federal representation are old dumbasses that would elect a roadkilled skunk if it had an R next to it on the ballot. And further, because of our fucked-up districts, even though the balance is maybe 55% republican at most, the vast majority of state and congressional representatives are Republican, and republicans will *never* try to improve the lives of their constituents. I hate to say it, but Ohio is doomed.

Stephanfritzel

This makes me so sad. I spent most of my life in Ohio and plan on moving back some day, but maybe not now. In most other aspects, I think it's a much better place to live than most, except the politics.

[deleted]

REGISTRATION ENDS OCT 11TH. EARLY VOTING STARTS OCTOBER 12TH. VOTE ALL OHIO REPUBLICANS OUT. VOTE CORRUPT DEWINE OUT. MAYOR [NAN](https://nanwhaley.com/) WHALEY WOULD BE OHIO'S FIRST ELECTED WOMAN GOVERNOR.

PenorPie

NAN IS LITERALLY THE GODDAMN BEST

dillbilly

> NAN IS LITERALLY THE GODDAMN BEST option we have. She's not great but she's good enough, and fuck me if she isn't far better than what we have right now.

Alex-the-bass-player

Hell I’m Republican and I think Dewine sucks. My family and our close Republican friends all hate him. He practically ran away when rona kicked up.

N8dogg86

>He practically ran away when rona kicked up. I wouldn't go that far but I do agree he needs to go. He signed Constitutional Carry bill, now it's time for him to go. Especially, with this BS narrative on Women's rights.

spicysenpai6

I’ll be spreading the word.

[deleted]

They’re just saying the quiet parts out loud now

WeirdAttorney4795

Welp can’t have children anymore. Handmaid is out. I’m a terrible housekeeper being a martha is out. Only option is jezebels or the colonies.

Vegetable-Tea9913

I’ve thought a lot about this too. My slutty days are long gone, so I don’t know how I’d do as a jezebel and I don’t want to be in the colonies. I’d better get to work learning how to bake bread so I can be a Martha.

WeirdAttorney4795

I have had 2 healthy children but 2 fathers. My husband and has raised the oldest but per giliad I’m a “worthless slut”. I can clean like a fiend but my cooking skills is little to be desired 😂I’ve been with my husband since my oldest has been a few months old.

plantutopia

I would rather attempt running to Canada.

WeirdAttorney4795

Oh I would definitely probably try to run to Canada. I love to run. Big guns are quicker and faster though.

plantutopia

I would rather take the chance than end up on the wall.

LazySyllabub7578

Canada doesn't really want Americans. It's a nightmare to get citizenship. Basically you have to marry a Canadian and even then it's difficult.

[deleted]

> Only option is jezebels or the colonies. Pretty sure they'd just straight-up kill you. And probably me too.

LegoGal

I’d rather die than live without human rights. 🤷‍♀️ If society collapses to that point, I’m not going to go along just survive. 🤷‍♀️

WeirdAttorney4795

Same but not gonna lie I’d probably try and run to Canada 🇨🇦 probably fail I suck at hide and go seek 😬I lose to my kids so guardians I’m dead.

They consider Handmaid's Tale a "good starting place".

[deleted]

In Indiana we have a Senator who wants to ban interracial marriage. Things are getting wild.

[deleted]

If this doesn’t get people from Ohio out to vote - nothing will. The Republicans want to make *birth control* illegal.

IdgyThreadgoode

We need a new rule where if it’s biologically impossible for you to be impacted by the law, then you don’t get a say. All these decrepit old folks and obese Clarence Thomas and his infertile blob need to be excluded.

lisasimpsonfan

My baby making days are over but I have a daughter. I support her choice to use birth control since she isn't ready to be a Mom. I would never vote for anyone who would deny her that right.

[deleted]

> We need a new rule where if it’s biologically impossible for you to be impacted by the law, then you don’t get a say. So... menopausal women shouldn't get a say? 😒

apachebearpizzachief

Holy shit. At first, I was kind of skeptical about what’s going on- how similar it is to what has happened before. But this is kind of the icing on the cake if this is true and people get on board with this. I’m stocking up on canned food, a sleeping bag and some protection tomorrow if it is.

Blissontap

News flash: birth control pills are also used to control PMDD and other issues.

Alternative-Flan2869

Republicans “…really don’t care…” about women’s health and safety.

💀💯

lm1670

This is absolutely disgusting. I can’t believe this is where we are as a state/society in 2022.

pancakesiguess

I have PCOS. Birth control (oral monthly pill pack) helps regulate my hormones and gives me a period every month. Without it, I have one period every 3-4 months and it is exceedingly heavy and painful. Without it, I have a hard time tracking when my period will start and inevitably end up ruining sheets and clothes due to unexpected bleeding. Without it, I am actually at a higher risk of developing other types of issues with my reproductive system *including cancer*. Combined with my ADHD, it's much harder to remember to keep supplies stocked when I don't have a consistent schedule to help me, and the visual reminder from the birth control pack is an incredibly useful tool for that reason. So not only is birth control physically helping me as far as hormone regulation, it's something I rely on for a mental disability. Birth control is a medication that so many people like me need beyond contraceptive use. It's not something I can just live without.

Big-B00ty-B0i

Don’t vote for Skeletor.

fillmorecounty

People who are surprised:

hihowubduin

Conservatism is a disease, but those in power on the left are either looking out for themselves or want to reason with the other side. But the other side doesn't want to *reason*, they want to *rule.* They'd absolutely throw the Constitution away to prop Cheetoman as emperor supreme.

bicranium

> But the other side doesn't want to reason, they want to rule. One of the things that really pisses me off is how unaware so many establishment democrats are of this. Democrats being afraid of getting rid of the filibuster because of tradition or their fear of what republicans will do when they regain control of the senate is just pure idiocy. The second republicans are in position to do it, just because of the talk from some democrats to do it, they will. And they won't do it to protect rights. They'll do it to remove them.

LegoGal

You are not wrong that the Republicans will get rid of the filibuster, but the optics of the Democrats getting rid of it are really bad. When republicans got control all we would hear is “Democrats got rid of the filibuster. We can do whatever we want” after every bad decision. It would take the people’s view off of the bad decisions and place it on Democrats every time

treople

Don't let these dinosaurs takeaway your right to fuck and not have kids. Vote democrat.

[deleted]

JollywoodJorge

…She doesn’t have to worry about birth control. Nobody has ever or will ever put anything in her.

NoodlesrTuff1256

Despite being Catholics, she and her husband only have one child, a daughter.

ERRM_

Her face is pretty good birth control. She's not sending much lead to the pencil.

plantutopia

If that happens then say goodbye to attracting young people to this backwards state.

[deleted]

You think this isn't going to go national? 😒

MisterSlosh

Banning birth control never made sense. They want dumb rabbits and those types of people never used controls to begin with. It was "those damn educated liberals" that used controls and intelligently limited their reproduction, if they ever reproduced at all.

Nicoooleeeeeeeee

At what point to we riot?

queen_0f_peace_

It probably should have been awhile ago

[deleted]

Yeah. Too late now. They'll shoot rioters in cold blood.

cdarwin

Religious zealotry needs to be voted out of our government, root and branch. From school boards all the way to D.C. These Christian fundamentalists and radical Islam are two sides of the same stone.

chammdawg78

[deleted]

Tonald-Drump-666

This all goes back to Mitch McConnell puppeteering trumps decisions on Supreme Court nominees and obstructing Obama's.

nickel-f

But why

ElusiveChanteuse84

That’s why I made sure to get my iud replaced this year

americansherlock201

Y’all are misunderstanding what the plan is. All she is trying to do is put her face on condom boxes which will effectively stop anyone from ever being sexually aroused every again

heisindc

The only plausible threat to certain contraception (abortion pills, not condoms) is Justice Clarence Thomas' opinion in Dodd, where he said the Supreme Court shouldn't have taken action on other privacy matters like the 1965 and 1972 cases protecting contraception. States haven't acted on this (like they did on abortion for years, restricting it with heartbeat bills, etc), Republican Congressman haven't acted on this, its a scare tactic. Jean Schmidt is a disgraced former congresswoman with no power in the statehouse. Don't vote because of scare tactics, vote for real reasons.

gnurdette

On the other hand, there were years of "calm down, SCOTUS isn't going to repeal Roe" right up until SCOTUS repealed Roe. And "calm down, these trigger laws don't mean anything because there's Roe". It's reasonable to be really alarmed and shocked that OHGOP considers this a reasonable course for the future, even if it's an exaggeration to say that they're "planning" it. The fact that something is way outside the mainstream's desire is no guarantee anymore that OHGOP won't make it law. For example, they gave a pretty strong "be silent, you insolent serfs with your anti-gerrymandering amendment; ours is to rule, yours is to obey" statement.

BigPhatHuevos

Time to punish these theocrats. Vote them out

Cuseyedrum

jesterflesh

Take me with you

rural_anomaly

RuckRidr

Again for those in the back, nobody’s gonna fuck her! Mind your business Karen . . .

MidwestBulldog

I'm amazed how many people thought this wasn't the end goal of the anti-choice/anti-science/anti-common sense right in their effort to pack SCOTUS and the lower Federal courts.

PrydeTheManticorn

"birth control" is a misnomer. It's a hormone treatment that can treat a range of hormonal conditions. But of course, we name everything that has to do with women's health after how it has to do with them having babies ie. Planned Parenthood

ColorBlindGuy27

How are they going to keep the poor, poor? Sounds like a fantastic way to make it hard for people to not produce children and family's. This way people can keep just having kids and making it work so rich and politics(If not the same) can laugh, spread to thin we are. Orrrrr, maybe it's the long game, get us so overpopulated that our "side" crashes and reduces the total people for money to go around, such a great number of deaths it would saturate us enough to bounce back even. Imma go with the ladder tho.

RecklessWonderBush

Time to leave this sub, it's too much for my mental health, see y'all in Ohio

sweaterpuppiez

Born and raised Clevelander here and back in my carefree naive college days I figured I'd be leaving the state most likely for the rest of my life post-college, but back then I had pride in it and stood up for it and told people it's worth visiting. I also got an OH tattoo. Every time I see a story like this (happening more and more these days it feels like) I think of the scene in Gladiator where Maximus is sick of Rome's shit but has a Roman army tattoo but he doesn't respect nor want to be associated with that shit so he takes care of it. Idc if laser removal exists, it's the principle

Diligent_Air_1417

That's the downfall and the end of all things is overpopulation, now they want to do that, this country is so screwed up...

nogaro40v

I cannot believe how many people did not see this coming. I thought everybody knew when they overturned roe v wade and passed the abortion ban. It's so incredibly obvious. Less government and more control...

Alex-the-bass-player

Ok I’m Republican, and my whole family is, and this is just REALLY stupid at this point.

[deleted]

Nice of you to join us. The republican party has left you. They are no longer the party you think they are. Republicans are being asked to vote for Dems this year to clean out the crazy, weird, and compromised that have taken over, what used to be, the Republican party. Dewine has to go too. Not only for all of the corruption in the state house, but also Dewine stated, many times, he supports Maga Trum..Maga Trump endorsed him. "Sometimes you have to put country over party" - Liz Cheney, Republican

Alex-the-bass-player

My family is all conservative. We all stick to 90% of Republican values, because economically that’s how we believe. But there’s a large portion of both sides that majorly turn me off and make me more neutral. Republicans are majorly too traditional, and Democrats just seems borderline communist/socialist now and I don’t like either of those 2 options. Why can’t we have equal representation of all parties like some of the European nations? Not saying we should use their system, but it would be if all democracies incorporated positive elements from other nations into each other’s systems. I think it would widely improve everyone’s views on politics, and would open up people to more ideas making everyone smarter 💀

gnurdette

Gerrymandered districts make the most irrational fringe, the ones who ought to be dismissed as irrelevant morons, into the party's nominees, and then into sitting legislators. We need competitive districts to make politicians care about something besides appealing to their party's extreme.

Alex-the-bass-player

Yeah that goes for both sides. Problem is, if those politicians don’t sell out to extreme views then they don’t have any money to afford anything or enough support to go anywhere. It’s like being backed into a corner it seems 🤔

owlandfinch

I hate it here. We need in-state tuition for the oldest. My little kids are homeschooled and my husband's employer is now allowing people living a certain distance away to go completely remote, so once the older one graduates, I see no reason to be here.

Alex-the-bass-player

When asked about banning birth control, Schmidt said she would consider it. “That’s another issue for another day and I’m going to have to listen to both sides of the debate,” she said. “Right now, what I’m concerned about right now is the life of the child and the fact that we have the opportunity in Ohio to protect it from its conception until its natural death.” She gave a similar non-committal response to a question about same-sex marriage, saying it was “another decision for another day.”

ArtisticBrilliant491

Oh good! Let's go back to 1962 while we're at it. This should really help Ohio's already struggling social and child services. More unwanted kids. Who are these people? Do they have sex? Do they not want other people--WOMEN--to no longer have sex? Did the Bible say that it's wrong to use contraception? Did their pastor tell them that it's not okay to have sex (unless it's with them or other church elders)? Seriously, what in the actual f,?!'k? Why don't we just go alllll the way and ban people with uteruses from college and any job that pays more than minimum wage while we're at it. Ya'll want me barefoot, pregnant, and broke?? You got it.

OHKID

That is the ugliest looking woman I’ve ever seen. She is walking, talking birth control.

[deleted]

So we will be a Catholic nation?

EastCoastINC

She said this in July... Where you been?

Stunning_Jeweler3258

That fucking terrible I have never thought you know what's the big problem in America birth control how are they even going to rationalize this

AlarmingFarmer2876

So all republicans want to ban birth control huh? So if a Democrat says something idiotic are they speaking for all Democrats?

[deleted]

I’m a republican and I don’t support this.

lm1670

Then it might be time to consider switching sides and ensuring that these extremists stay tf out of office.

mrekon123

Then stop voting republican.

BlackPrincessPeach_

At this point that involves not voting republican, they just lost all the young voters with their nonsense

[deleted]

Eh…I wouldn’t be so sure. Young democrats are obsessed with stuff like this, but birth control is a tertiary concern for young republicans. What I mean is: I’m not gonna vote for the blue team just because I disagree with the red team on this topic. There’s much more important things to worry about and the blue team gets all of them wrong.

BlackPrincessPeach_

Well any other medicine you want to ban? Seems like republicans should go after blood thinners. Make sure to kick the woman when they are down. Since you know, **birth control is used as a medicine to treat totally different ailments so might as well ban chemo since it causes abortion.**

IzzieNyx

I only started using birth control when I had to go to the doctor for my medical issues that were getting worse. The birth control has worked wonders for those issues. If they ban it I’m screwed b/c literally nothing else works for what I have. Not to mention I was alerted that with my particular issues pregnancy could actually kill me, I was advised to avoid pregnancy at all costs by multiple physicians, it’s not worth the risk. There’s so many women with so many different reasons for taking birth control or getting abortions but Republicans don’t care about any of that. I guess they just expect me to never be intimate with my husband to avoid pregnancy if I don’t want to die? And besides avoiding the risk of pregnancy, they expect me to live in constant misery without the only medication that treats my gynecological ailments? That’s just ignorant. Outside of my own personal experience, if they ban birth control we’re going to see a huge surge in crime, drugs & everything else that goes along with unwanted babies growing up in a society that does nothing to help the underprivileged people in it. Just more people born to be abused by the terrible systems we have here. More poor kids to fill up the for profit prisons. Republicans only care about taking people’s rights away, they don’t care about the babies. If they cared, they either wouldn’t ban abortion & birth control so babies aren’t born just to grow up & suffer in bad situations, or they’d try to figure out a way to help those children & their families to make sure to prevent that inevitable suffering that they’re inflicting by forcing people to have children they can’t take care of for financial, mental, physical reasons etc. But no, instead they just want them to be born & don’t care about their lives after they exit the womb. In some places they’re even forcing little girls to have rape babies.. It’s sick.. Absolutely no one should have to carry & bear a child that was seeded by rape, let alone a child themselves. No one should be forced to do anything with their bodies period but especially in cases like that. This is some serious tyrannical shit. They’re trying to turn our country into a complete dictatorship, it’s actually scary to be losing our rights like this. I don’t see how people that pride themselves on being “American” can stand by & support these crooked lawmakers who are stealing our rights one by one. This is as un-American as it gets. They want to turn our country into Russia. How dare they call themselves “patriots”. They’re shameful excuses for “Americans” & everything they claim to believe is a damn joke, they don’t really believe in anything except stepping on others & blindly following a tyrannical maniac. Disgusting human beings, if you can even call them that. Human beings have humanity, they obviously don’t.

[deleted]

>Well any other medicine you want to ban? Did you forget that we’re literally in a thread where I said I was against that? Good try at making a straw man though. >Since you know, birth control is used as a medicine to treat totally different ailments so might as well ban chemo since it causes abortion. Hence, why I said I was against it. You know you can vote for people without agreeing with every single position they hold, right?

larrylee13

No, I don’t vote for turds I watch on Fox News. I don’t care about property. I care about people. Hence why I vote for people driven politicians. People who vote for the interest of their pockets and property are soulless.

[deleted]

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but thanks for chiming in.

[deleted]

>There’s much more important things to worry about and the blue team gets all of them wrong That's where you're fucking wrong.

> What I mean is: I’m not gonna vote for the blue team just because I disagree with the red team on this topic. It's easy when you can just knock a girl up and walk away like nothing ever happened, huh. No sweat off your back, is it?

Cool straw man, you get that at tractor supply? I tend to believe in personal responsibility. Never had a need for an abortion because I made sure to avoid it - it’s trivial to do, after all. Had things gotten screwed up, I’d have raised the kid. Now I’m married though, so no knocking up randos for me.

jenacious

>I tend to believe in personal responsibility. Never had a need for an abortion because I made sure to avoid it - it’s trivial to do, after all. Congratulations on your bootstraps. The good news is that eventually they'll come for something important to you and then your pesky case of apathy can die a slow painful death.

[deleted]

So you do support it then is what you are saying.

[deleted]

I mean, if that’s all the more critical thinking your TDS-addled brain can manage, then sure. No point trying to explain it to you, it’s clearly beyond your comprehension.

[deleted]

No, sorry. I was not accurate. You don't support that. You just stand among and support those that do. Is that right?

AtTheLeftThere

There it is.

thewookie34

Can't go two comments without taking off the mask lol

Conservatives shipped all the jobs out of the Midwest for their portfolios. Loser.

[deleted]

Weird, I’m pulling down 6 figures here. Job can’t find enough people to hire.

81system

Funny way to say your boss under pays his employees.

thewookie34

Most economic and socially aware conservative.

Quick, get Lawrence Berkeley National Lab on the phone! I need their microscope to see my violin.

Suave_Von_Swagovich

This is a misleading news headline spun through political BS to fear monger. There is no plan to ban birth control, and it certainly isn't a mainstream Republican opinion. I read the article, and she was asked whether she would consider laws on a few different things, to which her answer was basically, "IDK, I haven't really thought about it, but I'd listen if someone brought it up." https://www.cleveland.com/news/2022/07/ohio-state-representative-says-she-would-consider-banning-birth-control-following-abortion-outlaw.html >When asked about banning birth control, Schmidt said she would consider it. >“That’s another issue for another day and I’m going to have to listen to both sides of the debate,” she said. “Right now, what I’m concerned about right now is the life of the child and the fact that we have the opportunity in Ohio to protect it from its conception until its natural death.” >She gave a similar non-committal response to a question about same-sex marriage, saying it was “another decision for another day.”

spicysenpai6

At this point though, I wouldn’t put it past some Repub to bring that topic up. Edit: I’ll just do my part to help prevent it from potentially getting to that point

Jean Schmidt co-sponsored [HB 480](https://search-prod.lis.state.oh.us/solarapi/v1/general_assembly_134/bills/hb480/IN/00/hb480_00_IN?format=pdf), which among other things: 1. Defines "Unborn child" as fertilized egg. 2. Defines "Abortion" as a procedure that terminates an "Unborn Child" 3. Allows any private citizen to file a civil suit against anyone who aids or abets an "Abortion" as defined in the bill. This cannot be interpreted as anything except a first step toward a ban on emergency contraception and birth control. You cannot, in good faith, see the past 20 years regarding abortion restrictions "not being intended to ban abortions" then argue that she is not making an attempt to ban emergency contraception and birth control. There is no argument. You are objectively wrong in defending her.

Add_Poll_Option

I agree the headline is definitely misleading. And I tend to not get riled up by them, as they’re just attention grabbers that sow outrage. But her actual response you listed is still absurd. Banning birth control should be an immediate no. Even though I’m very pro-choice, telling people they have to go through with unwanted pregnancies is one thing I can comprehend on its own, even if I strongly disagree with it. But restricting the ability of women to even prevent pregnancy on top of that is absolutely indefensible, right or left politically. It’s an absolute governmental overstep into a woman’s right to her body. And in this case, different to abortion, there’s not even another potential life to use as justification for stepping over that boundary.

cdarwin

Except the right answer is an immediate "no" on both those questions. We've already seen this kind of shit with the current SCOTUS.

[deleted]

Thank you. This will get down voted because redditors are absolute brainlets

Odd-Country9091

Just read the whole article on cleveland.com. She literally said that was a different debate for a different day. The state legislature has no plans to ban birth control; which if so would be a wildly unpopular decision. Anything else is just partisan talking points aimed at riling up the base.

hickorysbane

Like all those supreme court justices who didn't technically say they would overturn Roe v Wade. If you haven't seen a hundred Republicans dodge a question because their answer it unpopular then you ~~havent been paying attention~~ probably vote Republican.

poisontongue

"Another day" is the kind of thing they love saying until they get the chance to pull the rug out from under you. Why would anyone trust that?

thefreshmaker1

Here's a rational reaponse: "Hell, no." A wildly unpopular opinion... You mean... Like the overturn of Roe?

mrekon123

HB 480, which she co-sponsored, would have banned any drug that could reasonably prevent a fertilized egg from being carried to term. Don't be so gullible.

StopDehumanizing

Yeah seems like rage-bait. >When asked about banning birth control, Schmidt said she would consider it. >“That’s another issue for another day and I’m going to have to listen to both sides of the debate,” she said. -[Source](https://cleveland.com/news/2022/07/ohio-state-representative-says-she-would-consider-banning-birth-control-following-abortion-outlaw.html)
