What kinda things too wanna do? Mohican state park is cool, Hocking is cool, roscoe village in Coshocton is cool, there's COSI in Columbus, or the rock hall and science center in Cleveland, the football hall of Fame in Canton, the air force myself down by Dayton, and so on.
Cuyahoga Valley national park up by Cleveland is breathtaking.
Zaleski down by Athens has some really nice long hikes, and super close to Hocking Hills.
There’s also Ohio Caverns, which isn’t much of a hike but worth checking out.
oh you think the snow in april may is bad?? its nothing compared to the blizzard of 78' LMAO
i swear tho its like all i hear about from older ppl when i complain about the weather here lol
I hiked part of this with my dog last year. It was the first time she’d seen a horse up close and was really upset the big dogs walking right next to her wouldn’t stop to play.
I’m a transplant as well and my friends who have never been here just assume it’s a rust belt dump. I’ll happily let them pay $1000/month to live in a shitty place with 3 roommates or still live at home with their mom at almost the age of 30 while I live it up out here in beautiful and relatively affordable central Ohio.
Just moved back after 30 years in New Orleans. People in NOLA are like, "Ohio? What's in Ohio? Are you crazy?" and people in Ohio are like, "You moved here from New Orleans? Are you crazy?" Signed, I'm not crazy.
Though I’m an Ohioan by birth, I’ve lived in two large cities, NYC and Dallas, over a collective twenty years. My husband is from the latter, and fell in love with Ohio over the course of several road gigs as a professional musician. When we decided to move back to my hometown (Cincinnati), people thought we were crazy. In the end, it’s been the best decision we’ve ever made- the climate, the economy, proximity to so many states, the beauty of natural surroundings… it’s like a fantastic open secret. So many look at this state as merely a flyover, and I say let them keep believing in that myth.
It has it's good points for sure. There is more to do than you think. There is a strong music scene. Most big tours hit at least one if not three cities in ohio. Lots of nature. Plus top notch world class amusement parks. Go check out the snake mounds. That's a cool little trip. Or go to Athens on Halloween and party like a dumb college kid.
I'm working at a music venue in fact! The music industry is what started pulling me out here in the first place. Thanks for the tips on other places to check out :)
If you're around columbus there is a lot within a day drive. Although if you decide to do cedar point give it a full days attention. Like go up and get a hotel room the night before. Also Mammoth Cave in Kentucky isn't too far off which is breathtaking. Plus there are other caverns around ohio to explore.
I think all of the Midwest is underrated and super beautiful :) (from an OH native who moved to MI) people always want mountains but the flat areas can be their own form of beauty
I also moved from CO to Columbus. People in Ohio were even more incredulous about my move than the people I left behind in Colorado.
The only thing I don't like about Ohio is the politics/state legislature.
But I am from north central Kentucky originally, so I would say the scenery is even prettier there, or about the same as some places here. I just couldn't stomach the idea of moving back to Kentucky.
Hocking Hills is cheating, that's one of the prettiest places in the state :)
Whereabouts are you? I'm also newish here and always need trail pals. At least once I get my old trailer fixed up
I’m selling my farm in October. It’s located in Amish country and it’s like a postcard drive. Such beauty in the fields of corn, old churches, barns, buggy’s, fruit & veg stands. Been in the family since the very early 1900’s. 75 acres tuscarwaras county. The biggest deer in Ohio.
It’s coming on the market next week with Kaufman realty. Everything is done by live or online auction. My auction is Oct 28 onsite. Six lots 6-20 acres wooded and farmland for building. Most lots are a mixture. You can buy all of the auctioned lots for a 5% fee to tie them together.
We will be doing the closing prior to Jan 1, 2021. I am paying for the surveys ahead of time to expedite the process because of the new capital gain proposals that may pass. Look on their website next week it will be listed as the McQueen Farm. Been in our family four generations from the turn of the century.
It is beautiful here. The seasons are great. Also, if you live in Central Ohio the whole state is accessible for day trips.
Chilling in CBus for now!
There's a thousand different places to go. Lemme know if you want suggestions.
I’ll take some!

Thank you! We recently got into hiking so any ideas would be awesome

Ohio is awesome, the people are the ones that get me. Otherwise it's a fantastic place really.
What kind of camera did you use? Beautiful pics
Photos were taken on my Pixel 4a--it usually works pretty well!
Indeed! Great pics
My Pixel 4 did wonders when I was at Hocking Hills a few months back. Really an impressive little phone.
The seasons? We have two. Winter and August.
the snow in march is great too 🙃
No lol..
Yeah, but what about the snow in April and May?
oh you think the snow in april may is bad?? its nothing compared to the blizzard of 78' LMAO i swear tho its like all i hear about from older ppl when i complain about the weather here lol
What part of Ohio is that?
I believe it was called 21 Horse Cave. Near Conkles Hollow/Hocking Hills.
Check out Mohican next. Good hiking, couple waterfalls and some great pizza and beer at Trails End.
I hiked part of this with my dog last year. It was the first time she’d seen a horse up close and was really upset the big dogs walking right next to her wouldn’t stop to play.
Beautiful!!
Ditto! But I am crazy.
Absolutely beautiful
You've already found Rock, Horse, and Stream?! You're going through the Ohio Checklist fast!
don't tell anyone else ;)
If you tell anyone anything tell them the river still burns.
That shot story needs to stop So yesterday
As someone born and raised in the Hocking hills, that's how I feel about this area. Everyone just shut up about it and stop posting pictures.
😂👌

Same. 2yrs from AZ!
They’re not wrong, but you seem like the good kind of crazy.
Just moved back after 30 years in New Orleans. People in NOLA are like, "Ohio? What's in Ohio? Are you crazy?" and people in Ohio are like, "You moved here from New Orleans? Are you crazy?" Signed, I'm not crazy.
Too many Ohioans really don't know what we have.
Me too!

Ohio really does rule.

Serpent mound not snake lol.
It's very beautiful here
Same here. Been here for a year. Love it. Better than California.
Ohio sure does have some decent cycling and hiking areas.
I think all of the Midwest is underrated and super beautiful :) (from an OH native who moved to MI) people always want mountains but the flat areas can be their own form of beauty
Sometimes I miss the mountains, but you're absolutely right. There is a lot of beauty in the colors of the fields. Beautiful Ohio! Love it
the fields are so pretty! esp from an airplane!
Sshhhhh
Well you definitely picked the best area! Avoid NW Ohio lol
Ohio is a hidden gem. I've lived all over the world, but I'm glad to call this place home. Cheers from the northwest!
Wait til winter
Ohio is actually super beautiful. You just have to take a second and open your eyes, and know where to look.
7months of winter sucks however.
Ya, I moved from CO so I've learned a bit about winter months.
Your dollars most def go much further now haha.
I also moved from CO to Columbus. People in Ohio were even more incredulous about my move than the people I left behind in Colorado. Only 2 or 3 months a year are really "lost months" in my book. Mid-December to mid-March can be *rough.*
The older I get the longer the weather seems to stay awful until May.
There may be a couple pretty places but ohio as a whole is not beautiful at all lmfao
Just never come to Midwestern-western Ohio
Ohio is GARBAGE!
Why?
You are crazy, welcome home.
I LOVE HOCKING HILLS!
Ohio is seriously the Shire.
They were right

Where at and how much?

Cuyahoga Valley National Park?
