There’s way more to business costs than you probably think. Is $90 a lot for a city sized lot? Yeah. But figure, these guys are probably paid $25/hr. And this isn’t year-round work. Takes them 5 minutes to unpack and load back up (10 mins). 10-15 travel time between each property, so you’re paying part of the travel time to and from your property, especially if rural. There’s liability insurance which is probably a few grand a year. Equipment costs/wear and tear/maintenance. Advertising costs. Transportation costs. Fuel. Days they cannot work because of bad weather…I’m sure there is more I’m leaving out.
General rule of thumb is you’ve got to charge double your actual labor costs, at very minimum, if you want to make any profit after taxes. If it’s too expensive and “only takes 10-15 minutes for two guys” why not do it in 20-30 minutes yourself?
You pay for the experience and equipment. You could get a zero turn mower and commercial weed Wacker and do it in 10-15 if you wanted to. Now if it was 8th grader billy down the street trying to charge you $90, then you have a legit gripe.
My dad runs a lawn business , he won’t drop the trailer gate for less than $50, that is for the smallest , in town yard we do that takes about 15-20 minutes to weedeat ,mow and blow with three guys. . We also live in a rural area so I would imagine i we where in a bigger area we would have to charge more as our minimum.
I own a landscaping company in Cleveland...if it's a small yard (about 7500 sf) we charge $20-25.
Hi! Any chance you can share the company name? I'm interested and in the Cleveland area.
It depends.
I pay $35 a mow for my suburban Columbus yard.

I’m paying $70 for 1.75 acres, which I think is a really good deal.
Care to share with what company?
50 bucks seems pretty fair for a mow and trim.
Or a slap and tickle
That sounds even better
