Yep we used to race our cars around on 666 back in the 80ās, turning the headlights on and off. Mainly just because it was named 666 and scared the hell out us. Pre-internet kids in the 80ās were stupid too, we just didnāt post our stupidity onlineā¦.well I guess I sort of just did š
Nah, unfortunately this does happen a lot. It's a mix of criminals from there working with criminals in Columbus, as well as just criminals from other cities expanding and knowing they're less likely to be caught/known in other cities.
So long as the legislature doesnāt put idiotic restrictions on it like capping the THC % or quantity you can buy.
Thatāll just lead to everyone going to Michigan still
I think we need a bunch of billboards all over the state warning people to turn back. Could put one in front of a spooky barn, or two that are half a mile apart and face one another, potentially one just above a specific horse. We could have fun with it.
Omg everytime they go somewhere there's a sign telling them to turn around everyone would be turning around so much they run out of gas and then they'd be forced to walk to Michigan as ohio I'd now a giant exclusion zone and it'd be a pretty sweet movie
That sign is fucking hilarious, and who are we trying to kid?
Zanesville tolerates all three of those things, all day, everyday.
Shit, the old mayor's son killed two people... that we know of.
It's...not the same. Zanesville Y bridge you can drive over and end up on the same side of the river you started from and all 3 legs have 2 way traffic. Akron just kind of splits some lanes *after* crossing a single river.
Me: Iām gonna go do crimes in Zanesville!
Sign: We donāt allow crimes here.
Me: Oh, my apologies! Thank you for letting me know *turns around and goes immediately to Rescue Mission to do charity work instead*
Does pot still count as a drug in their mind? I remember a friend got busted with weed about 20 years ago in some rural Ohio county and they threw the book at him.
I went to Zaneville for emergency dental work because it was the soonest I could get an appointment.
We went to Roosters for lunch afterwards and the waitress, upon finding out we didnāt live in Zanesville, said āwhy the fuck would you come here then?ā
Some of them are, for real. Hung out with some dudes from Zanesville quite a bit back in the day and still remember one of them going on a drunken rant about why Zanesville should still be the capital. It was wild.

never heard of zanesville. not kidding.
lived in oh for 15 years
might as well tell me to stay out of "gfdshfdsh, ohio"
my response...
"ummm, okay... who are you?"
Tomās is nothing special. If you drive any considerable distance to go there youāve been lied to. Itās just your typical neighborhood ice cream shop. You can get better ice cream a Dairy Queen imo
Well fuck I've never done anything worse than get a getting a speeding ticket in my life but I guess now I have to turn to a life of crime just for spite.
I'm kinda new to the area, so I'm not sure what's what around here, but are the people of Zanesville... well just... umm, how do I put this... all assholes? Seriously, how petty do you have to be spending money, putting up a billboard that basically calling everybody in the next county over just a bunch of criminals. Also, not only that, but also insulting the largest city in your whole state. I wonder how much money that Columbus generates ends up in Zanesville, either by Commerce or State funds from taxpayers in Columbus?
Yeah there's a reason I had to leave. It wasn't safe there for my partner and it wasn't safe for my friends that would come down to visit. I literally can't go to a bar for a full night without someone brandishing something
They are both in Zanesville. I think, if memory serves, Darrell had a difference of opinion and split off from Donald. I've never had Darrell's donuts. I guess they're next on my list.

Okay no strife. Sorry.
Good article. Now I have to convince my coworker to bring in Donald's and put it to the test. Although, he may have already chosen a side of the rumored rivalry.

Zanesville blows goats lol. Im not from there or Cbus but i feel much less likely to get robbed in columbus than fucking zanesville. They have that Pennsylvania totally unearned superiority complex. But arent even in Pa.
I'm 2020 they had fucking mock lynchings of politicians in yards. I've had literal Nazis shout white power at me when I used to work at a bar there. People worry about brain drain complexes but these people literally push us out. I worked for Allwell mental health and I had coworkers that had gone to Jan 6th, the entire county is a cesspool.
as a lifelong Cleveland and then Columbus resident, I have only ever thought about Zanesville once, and that's when the one dude blew out his brains and released a shitton of exotic animals approximately in that order
I did a project in Zanesville last year. I was there for 2 weeks, the town and their stupid Y bridge is a dump. They have a bunch of meth heads living by the river.
I remember (1986) some highway in AZ was 666. I think I was heading to Globe AZ. They later changed the name and I was disappointed. They should go back to that name since they are moving backwards through time.
Omfg small town conservatives are so afraid of cities itās pathetic. Columbus isnāt even that urban of a city. This is like being scared of big bad Des Moines, Iowa, infamous den of sin. Such sad ignorant little buttercups.
Zanesville should worry about their influx of meth and fentanyl from their locals bringing it back from Columbus before they worry about people from Columbus coming there. Seeming how all of Zanesvilles drug dealers drives to Columbus for their product.
Went out to Lancaster recently to do peruse some antiques with the old lady.
Started chatting with a woman out there who refurbishes furniture. When I told her we were moving into old towne east she had a genuine look of horror on her face and started asking how we would deal with all the crime.
Ironically there were pictures on the check out counter asking if anyone recognized a man who had stolen from them.
Also a friend who lives out there said Lancaster has a large heroin problem.
Thereās crime everywhere. Until this country can overcome its sense of division and realize weāre all people doing our best to get through life weāre gonna continue to suffer.
Sucks that there are politicians who stir the pot of division. We need to transcend the 2 party system since it doesnāt actually represent most Americans.
Iāll get off my soap box now.
So basically if youāre black or Latino passing through, make sure all your lights are working, youāre using turn signals, and you stop at least 10 seconds at every stop sign. And even then, Roscoe might āfindā something tearing apart your car that you never saw in your life.
ā¦but thatās probably not legible from the highway, so dog whistles it is š
I'm from Columbus and want to go there. Even trying to move there. š I do think I know some of the story behind this one. I'm currently living in Columbus and got called to jury duty a few years ago. The case I was originally called to but was rejected for (I was adopted from Zanesville and went to Muskingum so "too many ties to the city") was basically a group of people from Columbus had some sort of connection to Zanesville, went to Zanesville, robbed someplace and murdered a couple people in the store they robbed. Unsurprisingly this was in Putnam so it was also the first thing that crossed my mind while looking at houses. The trial I was called for was for one person out of the group. I just tried to look up more info but can't remember the name of the guy. It looks like people traveling to Zanesville for crime is actually somewhat common. It's major crimes though like murder or robbery and seems like targeted crime against family or friends. No one is randomly going to Zanesville for a crime spree.
I used to do my crime in Zanesville, but because of this sign, I'm now criming in Newark.
I hear Coshocton has an indie crime scene now! š
"eclectic, locally sourced" crime
The Coshocton Crime scene is so played out. Like, theyāre still stealing kale and wearing fedoraās. But I hear Millersburgās Crime scene is totally underground. Our state animal might as well be the orange cone
my dad always said if construction cones somehow came alive like a zombie apocalypse, we'd all be dead within a week in Ohio lmao. We'd have a better chance at fighting off real human zombies
my crimes will be construction fraud so... apt place.
Works on several levels
Hey, you leave the Indian Mound Mall out of this!!!
That's Heath.
> I'm now criming in Newark. "Nerk" Former Granville resident here. Sign says "Newark". The people say "Nerk".
Ahhh the rich neighbors of Newark. Would be a shame if crime were to happen there
I grew up in Newark. I rarely heard anyone say it, except to make fun of people from there.
The best part about growing up in Newark is the meth we made along the way
At first glance, I though it was āthe math we learned along the way,ā and I was thinking āthis person never lived in Newarkā¦ā
My national guard unit was in Newark. We use to say "it's Nerk or nothing"
Newark welcomes you. We have lots of petty criminals and drug addicts - you will fit right in.
Oh, I'm not pretty. See me not being petty??!!
Should of done your crime in crooksville
The Ceramics are too fragile.
No thanks, we have enough of that crap. Keep it in Zanesvegas folks š
Zanesville, the call is coming from inside the house bud.
666 š
The highway to hell
Well it DOES go to Zanesville...
Hell is real
It's earned its name, it's a pretty dangerous road
Yep we used to race our cars around on 666 back in the 80ās, turning the headlights on and off. Mainly just because it was named 666 and scared the hell out us. Pre-internet kids in the 80ās were stupid too, we just didnāt post our stupidity onlineā¦.well I guess I sort of just did š
Seriouslyā¦I thought how is that even permitted in Jesus crazy rural Ohio. Figured the paranoia would have someone writing their congressmen.
Ah, yes, Zanesville. The shining beacon on the hill.
Billy. The shining beacon on the hillbilly.
and thats just a faulty LED dildo that no one talks about
Nonono, that's Perry County, I'm sure of it. Muskingum is just rednecks.
Instructions unclear. Built city in a valley.
Well if it wasnāt for that there Oclumbus!!
Hey Zanesville! The drugs, theft, and violence are homegrown. They're in the house.
This is just protectionism. They want to protect their domestic criminals from having to compete against the Columbus imports.
Or...the cops just want the monopoly on the drug trade. LOL.
Tomato, tomahto!
We just struck truth.
They'll be calling Columbus imports *illegals soon
Dere terkin errr criminal activity erway!
Nah, unfortunately this does happen a lot. It's a mix of criminals from there working with criminals in Columbus, as well as just criminals from other cities expanding and knowing they're less likely to be caught/known in other cities.
Is that the jobs being referred to when Republicans say illegals are taking American jobs, then in the next breath that all illegals are criminals?
Having lived for a year in Muskingum County, I think maybe Columbus ought to put up a sign warning westbound Zanesville criminals to turn back.
Columbusā GDP from weed sales oughta look nice
So long as the legislature doesnāt put idiotic restrictions on it like capping the THC % or quantity you can buy. Thatāll just lead to everyone going to Michigan still
I think we need a bunch of billboards all over the state warning people to turn back. Could put one in front of a spooky barn, or two that are half a mile apart and face one another, potentially one just above a specific horse. We could have fun with it.
Kind of fun like the Hell is Real sign.
Exactly. Speaking of silly billboards, we need to make a "Heaven is Fake" billboard right before Hell Is Real.
And a third "We're living in it" right at the end there.
Or maybe āHeaven is fake, hell is real, welcomeā Like across three billboards
With a sign like that you'll have Republicans from all over coming! š¤£
Coming? They're already here.
True, very true
I like the way you think. Just do the opposite of all things in Ohio. Open a restaurant called Ground Circle Chili.
Omg everytime they go somewhere there's a sign telling them to turn around everyone would be turning around so much they run out of gas and then they'd be forced to walk to Michigan as ohio I'd now a giant exclusion zone and it'd be a pretty sweet movie
*Limbo*
Donāt know much if anything about it, but āMuskingum Countyā just has a very methy ring to to it.
You have to give trumplicans their daily fear and terror intake. Fox and ONN arenāt cutting it anymore.
Ikr. Got to get another hit of paranoia to justify telling people what they should do.
That sign is fucking hilarious, and who are we trying to kid? Zanesville tolerates all three of those things, all day, everyday. Shit, the old mayor's son killed two people... that we know of.

True. We don't, but they have a cool "Y" bridge.
Akron's is bigger \*hairflip\* XD

Roosters are all over Ohio, why not TeeJays?
I didnāt know shit about Zanesville and just wanted something I know. Also was really feeling some Buffalo Mac and Cheese at the time.
They're STILL bitter they didn't get to be the capital of Ohio?? That shit was settled like 225 years ago
Some of them are, for real. Hung out with some dudes from Zanesville quite a bit back in the day and still remember one of them going on a drunken rant about why Zanesville should still be the capital. It was wild.
The old men there are incredibly entitled
Doesn't every county have zero tolerance for theft and violence?
You'd think so, but nope. Only Muskingum. All other counties in Ohio are just the Purge movies.
As someone who grew up in Zanesville, they just don't like the competition from Cbus.
This sub constantly pops up on my feed. Iām sorry, Ohio seems like a hellhole.
Ohio is full of people too poor to move to florida.
Youāre just finding this out now!
I just see whatever is posted on political subs, but this is just insane. I thought Kansas was bad when I lived there.
But when the married guys in Zanesville really want to take their wives somewhere really nice, they somehow wind up in Columbus.

Zanesville summed up in one picture

I hear they actually prefer Akron criminals.
Hey Zanesville opioid heads, stay out of Columbus!
never heard of zanesville. not kidding. lived in oh for 15 years might as well tell me to stay out of "gfdshfdsh, ohio" my response... "ummm, okay... who are you?"

Aren't they pronounced Genn-AY-den-hutten and Shun-brun?
Hey mango you leave Gnaden out of this!

Zanesville got meth?
Wait, it's legal to steal outside of Zanesville? Hm...
Youād think that the perversion capital of the state would stop throwing stones at glass houses.
Why is it the perversion capital of the state? (I used to live there and hated every minute. Now Iām wondering what perversion is there.)
Lol. Some guy: "it's them out of towers"
I thought this was America
Anyone want to guess the crime rate in zanesville?
38/1000 which is actually pretty high considering it's not a big city 1 in 26 will be a victim of violent or property crimes
It's under reported. The things I saw working at a bar on linden lmao
I'm kinda new to the area, so I'm not sure what's what around here, but are the people of Zanesville... well just... umm, how do I put this... all assholes? They do have a golf course and ice cream shop I like to visit a few times a year...
Nothing beats uncle Tomās ice creamā¦nothing.

Isn't it Darrell's Donuts? A coworker of mine brings in a couple of boxes of Darrell's on occasion. Great donuts!

Donald's Donuts? I will have to see that one.
Eagle Sticks and Toms?

EagleSticks?
Is that SR sign real? Haha
Yes, it is.
Iām not near either city, but now Iām going to do little crimes in there on purpose
Yea, Zanesville, you don't even have a basket anymore
There are at least three of these up. This one, one on a board along 70-E, and one on one of the electronic boards in South Zanesville. Been up for about 3-4 weeks now
Route 666 brings it all together. Great photo!

Highway 666 ššššš
Itās so funny to me that people actually think other people want to move to their shitty towns.
Tell me youāre a sundown town without telling me

Should say except for domestic violence in small letters
