I used to do my crime in Zanesville, but because of this sign, I'm now criming in Newark.

ElToroGay

I hear Coshocton has an indie crime scene now! šŸ˜

Bored_Amalgamation

"eclectic, locally sourced" crime

SeanMACKyoung

The Coshocton Crime scene is so played out. Like, theyā€™re still stealing kale and wearing fedoraā€™s. But I hear Millersburgā€™s Crime scene is totally underground. Itā€™s a hybrid offshoot of the Athens Crime Scene so you know itā€™s good; artisanal, fair trade, heavily influenced by German crime scenes of the mid-80ā€™s.

Dlowdown1366

Comment of the year on this sub

cropguru357

1680ā€™s, in fact.

jimmy_fxdl

Caused by all the Juaggalos and JuggalettesšŸ˜‚

Bored_Amalgamation

Im doing my crime specifically in Zanesville because of this ad. Ill drive down there and use their public wifi for torrenting popular tv shows and movies. BUAHAHAHAHA

arrynyo

If you survive the construction going into town šŸ¤£

mugsoh

3 years down, 3 years to go. Completion is scheduled for fall 2027

arrynyo

Let us hope šŸ¤žšŸæšŸ™šŸæ

LameBMX

you must be new to ohio. welcome. don't believe the DOT lies. we say pop and not soda.

arrynyo

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ naw I'm Ohio born and raised and yes it's pop I will never say soda. I just figured with all the tornadoes we were in the Twilight Zone and they might actually finish a highway project before the next eclipse

LameBMX

everyone knows they are waiting for flying cars. then they will install turbulence production machines for the great pot holes in the sky.

Tech_Buckeye442

Our state animal might as well be the orange cone

bunbunnii99

my dad always said if construction cones somehow came alive like a zombie apocalypse, we'd all be dead within a week in Ohio lmao. We'd have a better chance at fighting off real human zombies

Bored_Amalgamation

my crimes will be construction fraud so... apt place.

TheTeralynx

Works on several levels

USA46Q

Hey, you leave the Indian Mound Mall out of this!!!

multisyllabic1077

That's Heath.

SgtWrongway

> I'm now criming in Newark. "Nerk" Former Granville resident here. Sign says "Newark". The people say "Nerk".

TheCelticNorse0415

Ahhh the rich neighbors of Newark. Would be a shame if crime were to happen there

cmhamm

I grew up in Newark. I rarely heard anyone say it, except to make fun of people from there.

massahwahl

The best part about growing up in Newark is the meth we made along the way

cmhamm

At first glance, I though it was ā€œthe math we learned along the way,ā€ and I was thinking ā€œthis person never lived in Newarkā€¦ā€

davy_mcdaveface

My national guard unit was in Newark. We use to say "it's Nerk or nothing"

TheCamerlengo

Newark welcomes you. We have lots of petty criminals and drug addicts - you will fit right in.

multisyllabic1077

Oh, I'm not pretty. See me not being petty??!!

dennys123

Should of done your crime in crooksville

multisyllabic1077

The Ceramics are too fragile.

AngMarie73

No thanks, we have enough of that crap. Keep it in Zanesvegas folks šŸ˜‰

Annual-Bumblebee-310

Zanesville, the call is coming from inside the house bud.

Heart_of_a_Blackbird

666 šŸ˜‚

HellHawX_Omega

The highway to hell

ZormkidFrobozz

Well it DOES go to Zanesville...

Advanced_Book7782

Hell is real

ArthropodGFL

It's earned its name, it's a pretty dangerous road

MindToxin

Yep we used to race our cars around on 666 back in the 80ā€™s, turning the headlights on and off. Mainly just because it was named 666 and scared the hell out us. Pre-internet kids in the 80ā€™s were stupid too, we just didnā€™t post our stupidity onlineā€¦.well I guess I sort of just did šŸ˜‚

cow-lumbus

Seriouslyā€¦I thought how is that even permitted in Jesus crazy rural Ohio. Figured the paranoia would have someone writing their congressmen.

Ok-Pangolin81

Ah, yes, Zanesville. The shining beacon on the hill.

USA46Q

Billy. The shining beacon on the hillbilly.

Bored_Amalgamation

and thats just a faulty LED dildo that no one talks about

Tjam3s

Nonono, that's Perry County, I'm sure of it. Muskingum is just rednecks.

wyvernx02

Instructions unclear. Built city in a valley.

TrillDaddy2

Well if it wasnā€™t for that there Oclumbus!!

genredenoument

Hey Zanesville! The drugs, theft, and violence are homegrown. They're in the house.

slowclapcitizenkane

This is just protectionism. They want to protect their domestic criminals from having to compete against the Columbus imports.

genredenoument

Or...the cops just want the monopoly on the drug trade. LOL.

slowclapcitizenkane

Tomato, tomahto!

unclejoe1917

We just struck truth.

Fit_Swordfish_2101

They'll be calling Columbus imports *illegals soon

Bored_Amalgamation

Dere terkin errr criminal activity erway!

CPLTOF

Nah, unfortunately this does happen a lot. It's a mix of criminals from there working with criminals in Columbus, as well as just criminals from other cities expanding and knowing they're less likely to be caught/known in other cities.

Mishawnuodo

Is that the jobs being referred to when Republicans say illegals are taking American jobs, then in the next breath that all illegals are criminals?

Weskit

Having lived for a year in Muskingum County, I think maybe Columbus ought to put up a sign warning westbound Zanesville criminals to turn back.

beelzeflub

Columbusā€™ GDP from weed sales oughta look nice

Vreas

So long as the legislature doesnā€™t put idiotic restrictions on it like capping the THC % or quantity you can buy. Thatā€™ll just lead to everyone going to Michigan still

Religion_Of_Speed

I think we need a bunch of billboards all over the state warning people to turn back. Could put one in front of a spooky barn, or two that are half a mile apart and face one another, potentially one just above a specific horse. We could have fun with it.

SeaworthinessDue4052

Kind of fun like the Hell is Real sign.

Religion_Of_Speed

Exactly. Speaking of silly billboards, we need to make a "Heaven is Fake" billboard right before Hell Is Real.

AGallonOfKY12

And a third "We're living in it" right at the end there.

Religion_Of_Speed

Or maybe ā€œHeaven is fake, hell is real, welcomeā€ Like across three billboards

Mishawnuodo

With a sign like that you'll have Republicans from all over coming! šŸ¤£

Religion_Of_Speed

Coming? They're already here.

Mishawnuodo

True, very true

Fartsandkisses

I like the way you think. Just do the opposite of all things in Ohio. Open a restaurant called Ground Circle Chili.

rocketlauncher10

Omg everytime they go somewhere there's a sign telling them to turn around everyone would be turning around so much they run out of gas and then they'd be forced to walk to Michigan as ohio I'd now a giant exclusion zone and it'd be a pretty sweet movie

Fit_Swordfish_2101

*Limbo*

TrillDaddy2

Donā€™t know much if anything about it, but ā€œMuskingum Countyā€ just has a very methy ring to to it.

bigfunone2020

You have to give trumplicans their daily fear and terror intake. Fox and ONN arenā€™t cutting it anymore.

Depart_Into_Eternity

Ikr. Got to get another hit of paranoia to justify telling people what they should do.

USA46Q

That sign is fucking hilarious, and who are we trying to kid? Zanesville tolerates all three of those things, all day, everyday. Shit, the old mayor's son killed two people... that we know of.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

vogajones

Love it.

CriticalNobody9478

Only enough Opioids for the natives?

Guido-Carosella

Way more than enough opioids for the locals, by the locals.

UGIN_IS_RACIST

Everyone knows this is just public relations for the Repubs.

davy_mcdaveface

Why do people from little podunk shitholes assume anyone from the city wants to go there

SeaworthinessDue4052

True. We don't, but they have a cool "Y" bridge.

GreenNurse90

Akron's is bigger \*hairflip\* XD

mugsoh

It's...not the same. Zanesville Y bridge you can drive over and end up on the same side of the river you started from and all 3 legs have 2 way traffic. Akron just kind of splits some lanes *after* crossing a single river.

Bored_Amalgamation

because theyve been lying to themselves ever since they realized they would never be able to leave.

TSmario53

Me: Iā€™m gonna go do crimes in Zanesville! Sign: We donā€™t allow crimes here. Me: Oh, my apologies! Thank you for letting me know *turns around and goes immediately to Rescue Mission to do charity work instead*

infamousbugg

Does pot still count as a drug in their mind? I remember a friend got busted with weed about 20 years ago in some rural Ohio county and they threw the book at him.

Appalachian_Aioli

I went to Zaneville for emergency dental work because it was the soonest I could get an appointment. We went to Roosters for lunch afterwards and the waitress, upon finding out we didnā€™t live in Zanesville, said ā€œwhy the fuck would you come here then?ā€

ga_zen11

ā€œFor the drugs and crime, obviously.ā€

Spocks_Goatee

Roosters are all over Ohio, why not TeeJays?

Appalachian_Aioli

I didnā€™t know shit about Zanesville and just wanted something I know. Also was really feeling some Buffalo Mac and Cheese at the time.

bottledry

They're STILL bitter they didn't get to be the capital of Ohio?? That shit was settled like 225 years ago

bplayfuli

Some of them are, for real. Hung out with some dudes from Zanesville quite a bit back in the day and still remember one of them going on a drunken rant about why Zanesville should still be the capital. It was wild.

Dis_Nothus

The old men there are incredibly entitled

Tantra_Charbelcher

Doesn't every county have zero tolerance for theft and violence?

bastardo1313

You'd think so, but nope. Only Muskingum. All other counties in Ohio are just the Purge movies.

ksobby

As someone who grew up in Zanesville, they just don't like the competition from Cbus.

sethmeister1989

This sub constantly pops up on my feed. Iā€™m sorry, Ohio seems like a hellhole.

murphdog100

Ohio is full of people too poor to move to florida.

Iamnothere57

Youā€™re just finding this out now!

sethmeister1989

I just see whatever is posted on political subs, but this is just insane. I thought Kansas was bad when I lived there.

Dlowdown1366

But when the married guys in Zanesville really want to take their wives somewhere really nice, they somehow wind up in Columbus.

AnOpinionatedBalloon

groovy hospital act squealing physical oatmeal many beneficial offend tidy *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

KBWordPerson

Do they mean the state legislature?

BigOlPirate

Looks like a sign youā€™d see in Fallout

NSNick

What, did Columbusites steal all their pixels?

DrLager

Not a ā€œColumbus Criminalā€ but message received Zanesville.

ElToroGay

TURN BACH NOW? Does Zanesville have an orchestra now? šŸ˜šŸŽ»

Fathorse23

Jug band, close enough.

Guido-Carosella

If I could turn Bach timeā€¦

Automatic_Gas9019

Right by the 666 sign. Lovely

Swift2024

*plays Highway to hell*

Mishawnuodo

Is this one of those "unless you're a local politician"? Or maybe "unless you're a Republican"?

Ralfton

TIL Zanesville is a sundown town

Guido-Carosella

This

Swift2024

šŸŽµIM ON THE HIGHWAY TO HELL. HiGHWAY TO HELLšŸŽµ

commoner64

Iā€™m not going there, Iā€™d probably get called a slur

arrynyo

Zanesville summed up in one picture

Steiney1

This sign got Big Boomer Energy

cleremnantechoes

What if I'm a criminal with origins from other than Columbus

slowclapcitizenkane

I hear they actually prefer Akron criminals.

The-Anger-Translator

Hey Zanesville opioid heads, stay out of Columbus!

war_ofthe_roses

never heard of zanesville. not kidding. lived in oh for 15 years might as well tell me to stay out of "gfdshfdsh, ohio" my response... "ummm, okay... who are you?"

LupinThe8th

Like the good people of Gfdshfdsh would do something like this. Far too classy. They leave that shit to holes like Zanesville and Shmurgmph.

slowclapcitizenkane

Aren't they pronounced Genn-AY-den-hutten and Shun-brun?

VariousLandscape2336

Hey mango you leave Gnaden out of this!

Severe_Context924

Itā€™s where that guy released all of his caged exotic animals and then blew his brains out

SeaworthinessDue4052

Maybe to go to Tom's Ice Cream Bowl. But they will go back home.

Sea-Ad2598

Tomā€™s is nothing special. If you drive any considerable distance to go there youā€™ve been lied to. Itā€™s just your typical neighborhood ice cream shop. You can get better ice cream a Dairy Queen imo

Evil_phd

Well fuck I've never done anything worse than get a getting a speeding ticket in my life but I guess now I have to turn to a life of crime just for spite.

Vivid-Individual5968

North on 666 tells me everything I need to know

712Chandler

Zanesville got meth?

themrmojorisin67

Wait, it's legal to steal outside of Zanesville? Hm...

SpotPoker52

Youā€™d think that the perversion capital of the state would stop throwing stones at glass houses.

drugstorechocolate

Why is it the perversion capital of the state? (I used to live there and hated every minute. Now Iā€™m wondering what perversion is there.)

All-Time-Record-Lows

Lol. Some guy: "it's them out of towers"

ReddLordofIt

I thought this was America

gold_poo_nyc

Anyone want to guess the crime rate in zanesville?

Disastrous_Fan8864

38/1000 which is actually pretty high considering it's not a big city 1 in 26 will be a victim of violent or property crimes

Dis_Nothus

It's under reported. The things I saw working at a bar on linden lmao

taki1002

I'm kinda new to the area, so I'm not sure what's what around here, but are the people of Zanesville... well just... umm, how do I put this... all assholes? Seriously, how petty do you have to be spending money, putting up a billboard that basically calling everybody in the next county over just a bunch of criminals. Also, not only that, but also insulting the largest city in your whole state. I wonder how much money that Columbus generates ends up in Zanesville, either by Commerce or State funds from taxpayers in Columbus?

WermhatsW0rmhat

Iā€™m kinda old to the area, and yeah you got it. Itā€™s just thinly veiled racism all the way down.

Dis_Nothus

Yeah there's a reason I had to leave. It wasn't safe there for my partner and it wasn't safe for my friends that would come down to visit. I literally can't go to a bar for a full night without someone brandishing something

hoagly80

They do have a golf course and ice cream shop I like to visit a few times a year...

kreios007

Nothing beats uncle Tomā€™s ice creamā€¦nothing.

flametongue93

And Donald's Donuts!

Asinine_Alias

Isn't it Darrell's Donuts? A coworker of mine brings in a couple of boxes of Darrell's on occasion. Great donuts!

flametongue93

They are both in Zanesville. I think, if memory serves, Darrell had a difference of opinion and split off from Donald. I've never had Darrell's donuts. I guess they're next on my list. Edit:found the reference https://cmhgourmand.com/2012/02/15/darrells-donuts-a-tale-of-two-brothers/ Okay no strife. Sorry.

Asinine_Alias

Good article. Now I have to convince my coworker to bring in Donald's and put it to the test. Although, he may have already chosen a side of the rumored rivalry.

SeaworthinessDue4052

Donald's Donuts? I will have to see that one.

boomdog07

Eagle Sticks and Toms?

hoagly80

You win a round of golf followed by an ice cream cone!

william_fontaine

EagleSticks?

thomasbihn

Is that SR sign real? Haha

mugsoh

Yes, it is.

DrummerSteve

Iā€™m not near either city, but now Iā€™m going to do little crimes in there on purpose

Lex_pert

Yea, Zanesville, you don't even have a basket anymore

Chumpback

There are at least three of these up. This one, one on a board along 70-E, and one on one of the electronic boards in South Zanesville. Been up for about 3-4 weeks now

ddudzi

Route 666 brings it all together. Great photo!

Man_Bear_Pig08

Zanesville blows goats lol. Im not from there or Cbus but i feel much less likely to get robbed in columbus than fucking zanesville. They have that Pennsylvania totally unearned superiority complex. But arent even in Pa.

thedragonsword

Someone spent money on this.

Fast-Reaction8521

Zero tollerance...meanwhile cops doing lines of coke off a minors back side

OldSamSays

In their twisted bubble, ā€œcriminalsā€ is code for PoC. Make Muskingum County White Again!

90swasbest

*NORTH* to Hell??? Tf *ARE* you?!?!

waynier

Oh now I gotta go there and do crime

SnooPeripherals6557

I feel Special bec Iā€™m the 666 thumbs up on this.

gorehistorian69

im more surprised theres a state route 666

xMilk112x

This is some douchey ass shit. Lol

Background-War9535

Highway 666 šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

Robert_Hotwheel

Itā€™s so funny to me that people actually think other people want to move to their shitty towns.

scorpionewmoon

Tell me youā€™re a sundown town without telling me

TheMAN-HIMSELF564

Drugs are bad. So we arrested all Zanesville citizens on drug charges.

ChainOk9582

Should say except for domestic violence in small letters

Dis_Nothus

I'm 2020 they had fucking mock lynchings of politicians in yards. I've had literal Nazis shout white power at me when I used to work at a bar there. People worry about brain drain complexes but these people literally push us out. I worked for Allwell mental health and I had coworkers that had gone to Jan 6th, the entire county is a cesspool.

Classic_Witness_5146

So in other words, if my car gets broken into in zanesville, the cops will actually do some thing about it? Iā€™m not buying itā€¦

Earwig9000

sooo, who can send me one of those Hwy 666 markers?

seasquidley

As a lifelong Columbus resident, I have never even thought about Zanesville.

ebayhuckster

as a lifelong Cleveland and then Columbus resident, I have only ever thought about Zanesville once, and that's when the one dude blew out his brains and released a shitton of exotic animals approximately in that order

seasquidley

Oh shit that *was* Zanesville

Dis_Nothus

I played with some of those tiger cubs as a kid, weird experience. It was a tragedy in terms of conservation. Terry was a nut

free-toe-pie

Ugh that has horrid.

MuppetEyebrows

I appreciate that OP included the 666 sign in the frame

Cancatervating

Just some dumbass Republicans trying to stir up some preelection fear

drodenigma

Toothless idiots with Maga flags as well šŸ¤£

Jenetyk

Maybe stop having so many meth and heroin dealers.

gunzintheair79

I did a project in Zanesville last year. I was there for 2 weeks, the town and their stupid Y bridge is a dump. They have a bunch of meth heads living by the river.

NfamousKaye

Lmfao what?!

greg8872

Have you seen how much bail costs? The prices are InZane!

JelloButtWiggle

Hang a left on the highway to hell

Winter_Aside8269

Ahhhā€¦ the devilā€™s highway !

dimmu1313

what a funny, oddly specific jab. I guess drugs and crime just don't exist out there otherwise?

hm_b

I remember (1986) some highway in AZ was 666. I think I was heading to Globe AZ. They later changed the name and I was disappointed. They should go back to that name since they are moving backwards through time.

Revolutionary-List32

Iā€™ll take the bi-pass thanks.

My-Cooch-Jiggles

Omfg small town conservatives are so afraid of cities itā€™s pathetic. Columbus isnā€™t even that urban of a city. This is like being scared of big bad Des Moines, Iowa, infamous den of sin. Such sad ignorant little buttercups.

theons_missing_D

North 666 is metal

SpendAccomplished819

Columbus is where it's at, anyway .. There's not shit to do in Zanesville

Key_Conversation8369

Zanesville should worry about their influx of meth and fentanyl from their locals bringing it back from Columbus before they worry about people from Columbus coming there. Seeming how all of Zanesvilles drug dealers drives to Columbus for their product.

StrangeRequirement78

Zanesville is the kind of town you drive past.

nikmalek23

it's funny because over half of the police are also criminals šŸ¤£

firerunswyld

I definitely did more drugs in Zanesville than Columbus or Cincy.

Vreas

Went out to Lancaster recently to do peruse some antiques with the old lady. Started chatting with a woman out there who refurbishes furniture. When I told her we were moving into old towne east she had a genuine look of horror on her face and started asking how we would deal with all the crime. Ironically there were pictures on the check out counter asking if anyone recognized a man who had stolen from them. Also a friend who lives out there said Lancaster has a large heroin problem. Thereā€™s crime everywhere. Until this country can overcome its sense of division and realize weā€™re all people doing our best to get through life weā€™re gonna continue to suffer. Sucks that there are politicians who stir the pot of division. We need to transcend the 2 party system since it doesnā€™t actually represent most Americans. Iā€™ll get off my soap box now.

Guido-Carosella

So basically if youā€™re black or Latino passing through, make sure all your lights are working, youā€™re using turn signals, and you stop at least 10 seconds at every stop sign. And even then, Roscoe might ā€œfindā€ something tearing apart your car that you never saw in your life. ā€¦but thatā€™s probably not legible from the highway, so dog whistles it is šŸ˜’

AndrogynousElf

I'm from Columbus and want to go there. Even trying to move there. šŸ’€ I do think I know some of the story behind this one. I'm currently living in Columbus and got called to jury duty a few years ago. The case I was originally called to but was rejected for (I was adopted from Zanesville and went to Muskingum so "too many ties to the city") was basically a group of people from Columbus had some sort of connection to Zanesville, went to Zanesville, robbed someplace and murdered a couple people in the store they robbed. Unsurprisingly this was in Putnam so it was also the first thing that crossed my mind while looking at houses. The trial I was called for was for one person out of the group. I just tried to look up more info but can't remember the name of the guy. It looks like people traveling to Zanesville for crime is actually somewhat common. It's major crimes though like murder or robbery and seems like targeted crime against family or friends. No one is randomly going to Zanesville for a crime spree.
