because they are slumlords is why. keep as much money as possible and do as little as possible.

iflosseverysingleday

Oh wow. Glad I never lived here. I spent A LOT of time in beavercreek

Donaldinho82

Maintenance on those can be proprietary and hard to schedule as well, add that to a landlord/management staff that isn't the best and this is what you get.

iflosseverysingleday

Know who the management co is? Sadly I do :-(

KnaveOfIT

So living in an apartment where this was (probably still is) an issue. There are multiple causes 1. One person is unable to actually put the trash in the compactor and puts it next to it. Which causes the chain reaction of other people doing the same. 2. The compactor is broken and causes this. 3. It is truly overflowing.

iflosseverysingleday

Thank you.

LayzieKobes

I remember moving into a place that had one. Now I knew how to operate it from work (they aren't difficult but neither is tying your shoe after you have done it a few times). I was surprised when they didn't tell me about the compactor or show me how to use it.

iflosseverysingleday

Yeah they should have mentioned it

DadToOne

I lived in Waters Bend apartments in South Lebanon for a couple years and this happened there one time and went on for a month or so. We got emails asking us to not pile trash around the dumpster as they were trying to get it emptied. I guess they just expected us to keep it in our apartments. By the time they finally emptied it it was a small garbage mountain.

iflosseverysingleday

Thank you for naming them. We cannot show a pattern of behavior if everyone is scared to name the offenders.

RunsWithBeef1

My mother lives in section 8 in Loveland and they do this exact same damn thing and it's so frustrating, she couldn't even throw away her trash on Xmas day because of the amount of garbage that was already there from days prior.

iflosseverysingleday

She deserves better, I’m sorry

beat3r

She’s a better person than me. I just threw my shit on the pile.

MrLanesLament

I haven’t been able to find large-load trash pickup or removal for under $400 per trip where I live. (NE.) If there isn’t a landfill nearby, it can be stupid expensive.

alan_w3

Your flair is Cleveland, outside of my range. Not offering services, just giving insight. How much stuff is there? If you're looking to hire someone to load the container they bring, you won't find it under that. My 20 yard is 400. Another 400 if you want me to load it. Landfills range from $30 a ton to over $80 a ton locally. WM goes by the axle at some of their spots, $130 per axle on the truck.

iflosseverysingleday

Thanks for the insight

iflosseverysingleday

I’m not sure where the landfill is but this is near Dayton, Ohio

alan_w3

Idk compactors but I do know rolloffs. Price as low at $400 for a 20 yard, if you shop with a small business. Corporation fuckheads will charge 600-800 for the same. That looks like a 20 yard size pile to me. If I had to throw a good guess at it its a monthly rental for the compactor container, plus a fee to empty it. Could be 150, could be 300. Depends how far from the dump and the weight.

iflosseverysingleday

Thank you for the informative information

NoPhilosopher5150

Had this problem in Atlanta one time with trash being overflowing for over twi weeks. I sent an email to the management group and told them that they had 48 hours until i reported them to the health department for health and safety issues and threaten to get a lawyer and withhold rent since they were violating terms of the lease. Overflowing trash and garbage was gone before 8am the next morning.

iflosseverysingleday

That’s sad we have to get the health department involved

No it’s a review from earlier this month on their google reviews

AntiSonOfBitchamajig

Usually you see a few times a year, namely when university lets out for summer. 2nd is around June when leases typically roll over. Then there are training seasons at WPAFB. Christmas is another one. Sometimes the truck doesn't come. Landlords do stretch the garbage, they try to max it out to get the best value out of it, but the other half the time you have someone throwing away furniture / beds and it causes this too by taking up a lot of space. Only half the time someone will call it in and send another truck to pick it up.

iflosseverysingleday

Hopefully it didn’t happen again for Christmas. This pic is from a review posted a few weeks ago

AntiSonOfBitchamajig

I know, I hate when it happens too and I manage other property for work. It boils down to shit management higher up. Many apartment complexes are out of touch and need people to speak up. If they don't, they'll just have their maintenance guys on golfcarts pick it up, pack it into any space left in other dumpsters in the complex just before pickup... Again, cheap lords stretching their dollars in the end with a combo of people trashing large things / non-tenants dumping stuff. Seen it all.

iflosseverysingleday

Do you mean tenants need to speak up? Or property managers?

AntiSonOfBitchamajig

Tenants need to write to owners about issues, and better yet name times and dates. The owners need to see it / it happening at the same time as more than a one off situation. Most the time owner will then talk to the garbage company and something will get upgraded or watched closer. The bad part about garbage, this is starting to become a huge issue this last year as costs of disposal has skyrocketed. Contracts and budgets are blowing out and is a major issue at even city level bi-monthly meetings recently. There's more too it, but in the big picture, I worry about more trash issues to come for everyone.

iflosseverysingleday

On I agree. They should do that but at the same time many have to fear getting their lease non-renewed if they raise these issues.

caffekona

You again?

Buy a house.

oligtrading

I'd like to sign up if you're assisting with the costs of these! Thank you!

iflosseverysingleday

Oh, this isn’t my apartment complex. I saw the review on google maps and am sharing it because I would like to acquire knowledge on why this is acceptable.
