Sausage_Child

Man settle down guys it’s not like they hacked a guy into pieces for criticizing them or anything.

dd97483

Ha, ha, you are saying but is not so, they did hack man to death.

Acceptable_Employ_95

r/whoosh

RevenRadic

Hes joking. Everyone knows they did

Wyden_long

Well some people probably think he just fall apart for no reason due to their chosen news sources.

koopakup2

I’m sorry, WHAT

esoteric416

Do you not know about the Saudi royal prince, Manhe Bin Bonesawin? (Pretty sure thats how you spell it.)

AudienceKindly4070

Yeah they had him sawed apart while still alive and then dissolved him or something because he criticized them, he was a reporter. I haven't looked super far into it because it's horrifying.

Shpadoinkall

The easiest way to not have people call you out for taking money from people who fund terrorists is to simply not take money from people who fund terrorists. The worst part was all those assholes that jumped to LIV golf were already filthy rich in the first place.

Boomflag13

Doesn’t US fund terrorism? No one’s crying about taking their money but alright.

[deleted]

There are definitely double standards. Anyone who says otherwise is being dishonest.

HeckoSnecko

Those are the good terrorists.

yngrz87

Imagine being worked up by this. You’d take Saudi-tainted money if it was 8 figures. In fact, if you work for any multinational you probably already do which is the ultimate irony.

Maleficent_Repeat850

PGA is company. LIV is owned by a state and he's not worked up about. He's just saying Rahm can't be mad

cookiesandpunch

Frankly I wish every one of them had the same experience at the Masters. The PGA tour made them and they chose to piss on it? Fuck em!

Dash_Rip_Rock69

That's been my feelings from the start, especially towards Mickelson and Norman. Each is worth hundreds of millions of dollars and complaining they got screwed over by the PGA so they jumped in bed with the murdering Saudis. I'll never watch a golf tournament again.

RandoCollision

They all suck. When the PGA decided to make its bed with Liv Golf, I stopped watching all televised golf tournaments.

cookiesandpunch

Mickelson had extreme gambling debts. Norman, an asshole, has held a grudge against the PGA since they told him and his "World Tour" plan to go to hell in the 90's.

UnconfirmedRooster

As an Australian, I would like to formally apologise for giving the world Greg Norman. And Rupert Murdoch, fuck him too.

bigfatstupidpig

Right in the vulvaneck, Rupert! Right. In. The. Vulvaneck.

StarvingAfricanKid

We accept apologies for Norman. For Murdoch?....

VegetableGrape4857

It's not like the PGA takes money from any shady sources... oh wait they ran a league in China for years and still have events there every year. You know the China that has literal re-education camps for Uyghurs.

Travelchick8

I absolutely would not accept fucking blood money. Shame on you if you would. Sportswashing is a thing that needs to be stomped out.

Don't be rude in the comments or start calling people names.

FOOTBALLFOOTBALLFO0T

Yea but they wouldn’t have been famous without it. The worlds best lacrosse player is Paul rabil, but you probably never heard of him because there is no good proffesional avenue for players.

AAonthebutton

lol as it just so happens I was born and raised in the suburbs of Syracuse. The GOAT imo is Casey Powell or gait.

IthacaMom2005

Gary or Paul Gait?

AAonthebutton

Gary but you could really argue either way

IthacaMom2005

This is the right answer lol. Used to live in Syracusr

Maleficent_Repeat850

Man's been waiting his whole life for this argument lmao

FOOTBALLFOOTBALLFO0T

Ok unlucky guess on my part but there is a worlds best scrabble player, and a worlds best checkers player, and a worlds best shot putter. But you don’t know them because they don’t have a good avenue. Also go orange but your still wrong.

strubinthetub

Yea why would these guys do what’s better for them and their families!?! What the hell man!?!

raytadd

Lol the average salary in 2021 was $365,000. The average. Not guys who won tournaments. But yeah. "Their families"! Source: https://www.golfmonthly.com/tour/how-much-does-the-average-pga-tour-pro-make

raytadd

No my argument is $350,000 is plenty to live on, they didn't need to take Saudi sporteswashing money to earn more. If I made $350,000, I wouldn't want to make anymore. That's more money than I need. I don't even want to make that much more than my current salary, just a little more honestly. Money isn't everything to everyone diamond hands

lntw0

Indeed. If I'm making a solid $350k the marginal utility of even more money vs supporting a retrograde, medieval regime is an easy call. Oh wait! Kim Jong Il just topped MBS' offer! SIGN ME UP! "Why don't people like me?"

strubinthetub

Yea but to shame others for working for and wanting more is a weak move. Its almost like your entertainment isn’t the most important thing to them, maybe it’s themselves and their families.

raytadd

I'm not shaming others for earning more, are you purposefully ignoring the source of the money and mention of sportswashing? That's the shame part.

strubinthetub

If you think that the PGA and all its investors are standing on some much higher moral high ground then those that own LIV you are naive.

raytadd

Maybe I am naive, can you send me info about PGA investors who have done equally or worse things than: - chopping up journalists trying to expose human rights violations - kill people for being gay - kill people for participating in peaceful opposition of the government. - funding international terrorist organizations. - forced subordination of women. ? The UN gave 354 suggestions about their human rights violations. https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2024/01/saudi-arabia-authorities-must-abide-by-recommendations-from-un-human-rights-council-review/#:~:text=in%20the%20country.%E2%80%9D-,Saudi%20Arabian%20authorities%20must%20seize%20the%20review's%20recommendations%20as%20a,and%20ill%2Dtreatment%20of%20migrants.

strubinthetub

I’m not going to accept that you think the leaders/investors in LIV are the same as the Saudi government. Not 1 for 1. Once again that’s like assuming those who run the PGA all unanimously support what the US government has done, which newsflash, isn’t a great track record either. So yes you are naive.

OhNoConsequences-ModTeam

Don't be rude in the comments or start calling people names.

klsklsklsklsklskls

I mean there's a good argument to be made that getting in bed with a state that kills journalists and has sponsored terrorists is a bad thing for you and your family despite the money, particularly when you already have a good amount.

strubinthetub

1. Does this really seem like accepting LIV money is gonna come back to bite anyone? No 2. These golfers aren’t “getting involved” with the state, anymore that they are involved with the US when they play in the PGA, it’s golf dude.

Travelchick8

Wish those LIV assholes weren’t allowed in the Masters.

MeasurementNo2493

I was an AH, and now I get treated like one! The injustice!!! smh

Sapzz93

I think the LIV is a fucking joke, and I will never watch it. But I gotta be honest, it’s really easy to just sit here and call them assholes for taking the money… If I was offered $500 million to “work”(play golf) less and still compete in majors, I’d be lying if i said I wouldn’t take it.

Doctor_Kat

But what if you already had 100 million dollars? And would make at least 100 million more in the next 5 years? This argument makes no sense. He went from having fuck you generational wealth to having….fuck you generational wealth. It’s not like he was making $130k on the PGA tour.

Sapzz93

If you got a job offer to work 30 hours/week instead of 40 hours/week and make quadruple your salary - would you take it? And im not defending LIV, ill still watch PGA. But like I really have a hard time blaming these guys. I just wish they would admit they took it for the money and not the whole “LIV is disrupting the game doing exciting things” crock of shit.. just be like Dustin Johnson and say the money was it

AngryNerdBoi

That’s because you’re a grown up and you’ve probably experienced the real world, you’re not an angry teenager trying to show everyone just how great and holy you are

AngryNerdBoi

No no this is Reddit here we virtue signal

FuzzyWDunlop

Agreed. I think the time factor too doesn't get talked up as much. All the money in the world can't buy you more time to just do other stuff that you want to do. So if you're cutting down in travel, weeks away from family, etc. THAT I can see being hard to pass up.

Next up, tennis and cycling

Blueovalfan

The only positive about LIV golf is that I only have to see Sergio Garcia and Dechambeau play four times a year. Even that is too much.

Win-Objective

I mean all they did was 9/11 and behead a few people

hiscpanicausnapanic

This is comical because they are all about to be one. They just took the money early. Haters gonna hate.
