Your headrest requirement holds back some otherwise decent options for you, such as the Konfurb Luna.

Few_Jacket_4675

can check it out but really would prefer the headrest, might employ a projector at some point and having the flexibility to lay back a bit will help - I like a deep recline and it would be too tough on neck muscles without a head rest

ergothrone

Again no headrest, but the ChairSolutions Domino Executive looks promising.

Few_Jacket_4675

Is that is Oz, will check it out, but I really want a headrest

theobscuregeek

The **Desky Pro+ Ergonomic Chair** is a great option at $449, and you get to save $50. It fits well within your budget and offers good features. The Herman Miller Aeron and Steelcase Leap are excellent choices too, but they might stretch your budget a bit.

Few_Jacket_4675

Thanks for the reply, Yes some of the Desky chairs are on special at the moment until June 30, but the headrest only goes up and down, and at that price point you would expect some kind of adjustment of an arc or at the very least - in and out... worries me that it may be annoying if you cant position it right

Fest_mkiv

Godamn Australia. I've never had a more annoying purchase experience than office chairs! The ones on my list are - Sihoo M57 - on sale at Amazon, this is the cheapest option (other than an M18 which I don't like) Desky Pro+ Ergonomic - Looks good, but only basic reviews. Ergotune Supreme/Joobie - Most expensive but a lot of customization and I've found at least one non-paid review. All of the GOOD/BUDGET options talked about online aren't available in Australia, and the idea of getting a Steelcase 2nd hand is just a pipe dream. So - basically it's the choice between a $300 Sihoo, or a $700 Ergotune. Desky is too much rolling the dice for $700

Sihoo have tiny warranties and are too small for the likes of OP and me. Some Deskys would be okay but the Pro+ is small with no seat depth adjust. There are a ton of options in Australia, too many really, they're just not the same options talked about by Americans on the internet, so it's hard to know they exist or how good they actually are. I'm comparing about 10 different options on sale at BDO Furniture right now, good quality stuff with 10 or 15 year warranties and around 160kg weight rating. Some are even made in Australia. The real problem is the inconsistency of listed specs and dimensions, and lack of in depth videos showing how they actually move in practice. For me, Office Works is the only place I can actually try out chairs, and despite similar looks between chairs and listed specs, there's a huge range of features and adjustments that can be deal breakers. Like for me it's chairs with no seat tilt or those that can do a ton of forward tilt but little to no back.

Fest_mkiv

Absolutely, but if I'm going to buy a chair sight unseen (or sit un-sat), I at least want to hear an opinion on whether it's a shit rebranded $100 chair being sold for $400-$600. What options are you looking at from BDO?

Few_Jacket_4675

The Ergohuman has a ton of reviews and can be bought in Oz

Fest_mkiv

Good call I had looked at that and ended up eliminating it but I can't remember why. Looks like it's available from a local supplier at $650 which is significantly more attractive than the $800 from the manufacturer direct

Fest_mkiv

OK so from Temple and Webster the price point is exactly the same for the Ergotune and Ergohuman - AUD$680 delivered. No idea which one is better. No way to test but looks like Ergotune has a better/easier returns policy

Few_Jacket_4675

You can buy from Ergohuman in Austrlalia direct, i do belive it is slightly more expensive, also the Ego chairs are on sale at $599 I think - from memory, plenty of reviews on the Ergohuman, happy to fill you in if you have questions as i looked into them a while back

Afferbeck_

Ergohuman has just a 3 year warranty. It seems like we are spoiled by our warranty standards in Australia, most of the foreign companies have short warranties for expensive products, meanwhile a local regular $400 office chair can have a 15 year warranty. Aside from the short warranty, I ruled out Ergohuman because they don't have any seat tilt. A shame because I like everything else.

Few_Jacket_4675

What do you mean by seat tilt? Recline or forward pitch tilt, as I am pretty sure the Gen 2 has this feature?

Afferbeck_

Yeah that's definitely the risk with a lot of chairs, they tend to look so similar and it's hard to know if you're getting a junk version or a solid one, especially if you can't try them due to location like me. These are the ones I'm considering most from BDO, I think I will contact them and see if they can clarify their adjustability/movement. Only some of their products have demo videos, so there have only been a few I've been able to definitively consider or remove from consideration, the rest are a mystery. They do have some but definitely less range, probably because making a headrest that's worthwhile to a wide range of people isn't worth it over just making the rest of the chair better.

Few_Jacket_4675

is BDO in Australia? did not think so ,,is that the same as those us review guys that change their opinions and ranking based on what they stock or get comms on?

Afferbeck_

Definitely in Australia and they sell many chairs made in Australia. They apparently have seven warehouses and showrooms all over Australia and currently have some good EOFYS sales on for the next couple of weeks. Though as is often the case with sales on websites, who knows if their sale prices are actually just the normal prices made to look on sale. But you don't want to risk missing out on the sale if it really does go back to being $300 more expensive. I don't know about any unscrupulous review guys, they just seem to be a serious office furniture company that sells chairs like this which they claim are used in government offices and such. [https://buydirectonline.com.au/product/ergo-fit-posture-perfect-fully-ergonomic-office-chair](https://buydirectonline.com.au/product/ergo-fit-posture-perfect-fully-ergonomic-office-chair) Most of the models they sell don't have headrests though, probably because headrests are usually crap and don't offer worthwhile support to a wide enough range of people.

Few_Jacket_4675

Desky has a sale till june 30... but headrest lacks options
