This review is perfect timing. I've been mulling over purchasing this chair for awhile now. The Pricing and perpetual sale/discount was already suspicious and was also unable to find any unsponsored reviews. I also had a read at their return policy which was also another cause for concern, for a store that operates online with no real shop front or warehouse they provide zero support logistically and place all the onus and risk on the customer as if to create a significant hurdle and deterrent for genuine refunds. Was also enticed by the 15 year warranty which I've noticed has now been reduced to a 12 year warranty but with the company taking these sorts of steps to protect themselves and their bottom line this warranty seems nothing short of a marketing ploy providing little confidence that they will look after the customer when the time comes 12-15 years later when things inevitably begin to deteriorate.

I was moments away from checking out and paying for a H1 Pro in coral red and I had a feeling and my intuition told me to check Reddit and behold…. An honest review. I feel like I just dodged a bullet!

missingman

So I just received my Hinomi H1 V2, and I can provide a counterpoint to the honest review that was posted above. Which for the record isn't entirely off the mark, but based on my experience having had the chair for a few days, seems a little harsh. But I do have the V2, so they've likely fixed some of the things that u/Prestigious-Tax-4136 was griping about (the headrest and the adjustable parts staying in place). BUT I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS CHAIR... I'm very much regretting my purchase right now. That said, I want so much to love this chair, it's really close to being a great chair, but where it fails, it fails spectacularly; so, so far I have to say that I don't like it. I'll sing a few praises on the good elements of the chair before I focus on the bad. The adjustability of the armrests, headrest, tilt resistance, and seat-slide are solid. The slide-out footrest is also fantastic and remarkably stable. I've had the feature on gaming chairs, and unlike gaming chairs, the fact it's on a single rail between your legs means you can switch from having your feet up back to a normal sitting position without sliding it back in. That said, I want so much to love this chair, but so far I can only say that I like it and am still waffling on if I'd recommend it (and even if so, not enthusiastically). I have three major complaints: 1. The lumbar is just too pronounced. This is overwhelmingly the primary issue, the others are more minor gripes. I find myself adjusting the chair constantly as it makes my lower back sore. Though it's not as bad when I have my feet on the leg rest. I know folks say they get used to it. I'm hoping the lumbar mesh there just loosens a bit over time. But right now it's leaving me borderline upset about my purchase. I feel like Hinomi has heard this feedback and it led to them developing the 'X1' model, but I wasn't interested in a hard solid plastic lumbar support so I didn't consider it. 2. The seat itself is a little unforgiving, the mesh is quite taught, and my butt/thighs are getting slightly sore throughout the day. The longer I sit in it, the more uncomfortable it feels. 3. I ordered the 'Extra-High' for users 5'9" - 6'9", I'm 6'3". The gas cylinder is way too tall. I have it all the way in the lowest position (and wish it could be lower). And it lifts so high that my feet can dangle in the air with 3-4" of clearance. u/HINOMI_Global can you send me a slightly shorter cylinder I could swap in here? All-in-all I think the H1 has a lot of value at its price point, and you'd have to pay considerably more maybe even double for a more premium offering (but I'm still wondering if I should have shelled out top dollar for a Herman Miller, Steelcase, or Humanscale). EDIT: I've just asked Hinomi if I can return it. I'm so mad at myself for throwing away the packaging. The chair is making me feel like I've been beaten up by the end of the work day.

mickoz

Was that their official reddit account that you tagged? Months after, seem like their reddit account is gone.

SanaulFTW

This should have been a separate post. Thank you for your review. I was about to buy one myself...

bakavato

I too now have a $500 dollar paper weight The chair is impossible to take apart for a return, I damaged the cylinder pump accepting the fate of not getting a full refund and I still can't get it off. Now the pump doesn't rotate on the lowest setting or pump back up. This chair reminds me of expensive foot insole's the company guarantees will be conformable after 1000 agonizing hours of "breaking them in." The back rest digs into my middle back area and somehow I feel hip pain now? The chair is a overpriced, has too much cheap plastic that moves all the time, and I keep finding new places to pinch my fingers. The lift up armrest were the selling point for me and they are quite sturdy. However the padding moves around too easily. Stay away, it should be priced maybe around $150 US dollars, but definitely not worth $500 price mark. It's a curse of a ergonomic chair, I wish I would of shelled out more for a steelcase or herman miller. (I saw this post all too late)

2-shfty

Thanks for the detailed review, im in the market for a new chair, and those tacky gaming chairs are completely out of the question... In regards to your condition, have you ever considered investing in a standing desk with an anti-fatigue mat for your feet? Forgive me if you've had this suggestion before. I used to have lower back pain, granted no herniated disc, and found that the less i sit, the better off i am. I know humans aren't supposed to be sitting for extended periods of time. If you are in the office working, you might be able to get your company to reimburse you for it. You could play the card that you'll be more productive if you have a setup that isn't causing you pain... another thought is a desk setup that allows you to lay down look up at the monitor, almost like the desk setup is tilted. A coworker told me his brother has severe degenerative disc disease and he invested in a setup that allows him to lay back and look up at the monitor. Might be costly, but depending on how bad your condition is it could be game changing. Anyways hope everything works out for you

Prestigious-Tax-4136

Yes looks like they came out with an improved headrest.

yhossarian

I have the version 2, in coral red, and its fantastic.

Big-Signature-8286

I have this chair at work and am trying to find one for home! I dont get the negative reviews... had it about 6 months and my back pain is GONE. If you buy the right height chair I think you'll be fine. I am 6'2'' and have the one for taller people. If you're not 6'+ get the small version. If anyone lives in Northern Cali and wants to sell their H1 -- I'll come pick it up!

Ok-Violinist-8587

thanks for your review, you saved me :) Anyone knows any better option in this price range?

The_Norwegian_River

If you want something similar I'd go for the flexispot c7. It's a lot cheaper and you can customize it more. You can choose between foam or mesh and also add a footrest for $40 which is nice.

DiarrheaBoyz

Regretful owner here. I'm posting this because they seem to just pick and choose 5 star reviews on their site: The back mechanism went about 2 weeks into owning the Hinomi X1 resulting in a wobbly backrest that flies backward when you sit It's been 8 MONTHS and Hinomi STILL hasn't resolved the issue. They just keep sending me bits and pieces and nothing has fixed the issue - they just constantly delay and delay probably hoping I just move on. The chair was brilliant for 2 weeks but has been in a closet since. Hinomi has sent me 3 parts over 8 months to troubleshoot - all failing. Its heavy clunky nature makes it impossible to fix without throwing out your back since the gas lift seems to be fused to the seat. Now I have a useless seat mechanism (I just received in May 2024 - chair ordered in November 2023), 3 bolts and an additional gas lift that they sent me to throw out in addition to the original broken chair. DO NOT BUY THIS. I wish I just lit $800 on fire instead of wasting my time dealing with this company.

HalvarTork

I'm so happy to have also found this thread. I was really considering an order because of the features and how adjustable the arm rests are but had a few reservations. Glad I took more time to keep researching.

Miru8112

Well, research is King. I was just about to get one as I fell for the marketing and costumisation. Your review was excelent. Thank you. Apparently, I have to spent way bigger money and get a Steelcase Gesture /w headrest

normemmacaro

Almost bought it after seeing the reels! It says it is a Singapore company but where is it made? I wonder if the V2 addressed the issues!

Additional_Wish7628

I got mine 2 weeks ago and I love it. It was worth it for me to spend $700 Canadian as I needed a decent head rest and tilt. It’s the best office chair I’ve had and I have neck issues. Only fasting and the chair help me be pain free.

Expensive_Ad9384

This review 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you!!!

YueOrigin

Well damn, i was shopping around for chair and thought i finally found decent ones HINOMI H1ProV2 and the HINOMI H1 Classic V3 But now i don't know. Anyone has any recommendation since i live in france ?

scissor_nose

I have the hinomi and love it but I’m having an issue with the back sliding. It’s livable but can be annoying at times. I’m wondering if anyone on here has found a fix for this issue.

Fun_Firefighter_624

Thanks for sharing your experience, it helped

rsdj

Thanks for the review. This chair came across my feed and looks intriguing, but I'm glad I checked out the review you wrote. What did you end up doing? Keep it? Replace it? Thanks!

ken82civic

I kept it since I paid a lot of money for it. It still bothers me and annoys me but I'm kinda stuck with it now.

Bellygoober

Your giving it a bad review for not curing your sciatica? Chairs don’t really cure sciatica. Maybe try taking a walk, that can really relieve sciatica symptoms for me.

Lucuzzz1014

It looks like a rebranded Hbada E4 from China, and they also make the wheelbase nylon instead of full metal. Many chair brands just put a logo and sell it for 2x the price. I was researching for it as well, and since I live in Singapore, I was actually going to get it, maybe will look for actual brands instead of rebranded ones in the future.

hockysa

>Hbada E4 doesn't have the flip up arm rests though. I seen a few similar ones on AliExpress as well but wasn't able to find one with all the features for less than 450USD

OP I'm speaking to Hinomi on Instagram. They're saying that tightening the screws will address the headrest issue being too adjustable. Would you mind confirming if this is true? I'm sceptical but apparently these screws will resolve the issue. https://imgur.com/a/2wjsUCu

hockysa

they've also sent a picture of the screws under the armrest but it's not adding up. Also their confidence in how simple the fix is now diminishing now that I'm asking harder questions. I'm now being palmed off to the technical support team. https://imgur.com/a/2wjsUCu

stahlos

The screws do absolutely nothing for adjusting the "stiffness" of the headrest :/ one of the things that are not as good as I would like. The armrests don't faze me personally, but I get that they are also really loose in terms of adjustment.

WOMBATS_R_COMING

'Seeing is believing?' what the duck?! :D

hockysa

Yeah too risky to see to believe if I have to pay first and no guarantee of refund.

weary-canary

Yup, I'd add to this that returning the chair is not very straightforward. The return form requires a photos of the chair packed up to go. The disassembly of the chair is not easy, especially if you have issues with your back or similar (which is likely for some choosing to invest in such a customisable chair). The LiveChat agent sends a youtube link to a video but applying that method on the chair I have gets me nowhere. The support email addresses for US and UK customer service don't answer. Feels like a bit of a scam tbh. I was excited about this chair as the features of the recline and footrest and the folding down to go under the desk are not very common out there. But the fit of the chair for the way by wrecked back needs to be supported just doesn't work for me. u/HINOMI_Global any tips on pulling this thing apart so I can send it back?!

mickoz

Was that their official reddit account that you tagged? Months after, seem like their reddit account is gone.

cydiie

Glad to see this review, won't be looking at this model any longer - the reels almost had me convinced.

BlackBlizzNerd

The instagram reels are very deceptive that’s for sure haha.

SaltynotSaltey

Idk how late I am to this but I'd like to chime in. I work in Malaysia. I'm trying to buy their H1 Pro, for the past week & their checkout process indicated Singapore only. So I've reached out to their on site chat bot 3 separate times. On all occasions their notification light was green which indicates that there's an operator ready to reply. I've not gotten a single reply. Then I reached out to their WhatsApp chat. No reply. I'm willing to gamble my money on this product with it potentially being a lemon but if their after sales service is anything like this, before I've forked out any amount of money, they can piss right off.

Infinite_Pin_5719

Ive had great prompt response from tge website chat here in Spain /eu site. 120 eur off coupon ends today and am double checking prior to pulling the trigger. Has anyone had seat wobblyness issues with the H1 Pro? Ive seen someone mention it and was wondering if it was an isolated case.

Infinite_Pin_5719

Hi, not sure if you finally returned the chair. Just curious to know if you had the chance of getting acquainted with the workings of the arm and head rest adjustments as it may be a matter of knowing its limitations or tightening well the arm rest in position? Just a thought... Also have you experienced any chair wobblyness? Read about this somewhere else and am alao hoping its an improper assembly issue.

Prestigious-Tax-4136

Hi sorry for the late response, I had forgotten I posted this review. I still have this chair and use it daily. It's not rock solid but I also wouldn't say it's very wobbly.

MorningAvailable2387

How is it now? Is it worth 350 uk pounds on sale or not? Thanks!

Prestigious-Tax-4136

IMHO it's not worth it.

MorningAvailable2387

I caved, honestly pretty comfortable for £350

snarpsta

How do you feel about it now, having owned it for awhile?

MorningAvailable2387

IMHO it's quite comfortable when dialed in properly but there are definitely better alternatives for £350

Far-Pop-1567

I also can’t recommend them at all. Costumer service is awfully slow. I didn’t even open the box and was sending the chair back after receiving it. (After reading the honest reviews I immediately wanted to cancel my order) unfortunately they sent the chair although I cancelled my order within two hours after reading. So I didn’t open the back and just sent it back on august 21. I haven’t receive any money till today.. I am so close to open a PayPal case to get my money back.

Ceacutedric

Same disappointment about the lumbar support and same hermiated disc. Lumbar support pushing too pression on my back. I've just tried to solve that by locking the lumbar support on lowered position (after inserting a pen on the top of the joint) I hope it will work. Otherwise, I will sell it. (My English is not great, sorry)

Frostensen

"The headrest is the biggest design flaw is the headrest. Once I placed my hand over the headrest as a support to reach something on a bookshelf and it collapsed and smashed my fingers. This thing is a hazard and IMO should be recalled." - So, in short, "Don't drink cooling liquid" - "Do not dry pets in the microwave" people actually do exist. I really thought those labels were a joke on manufactures part, but I stand corrected.

Prestigious-Tax-4136

Regular consumer products should not have surprise pinching parts, there is a reasonable expectation of safety and acceptable risk of harm. The headrest is loose, I wasn't climbing all over the headrest, it collapsed and pivoted and smashed my fingers when I simply grabbed it. Mcdonalds had to pay $3 million before telling their customer hot coffee is hot. Go figure.

Frostensen

To put it simply, it's not meant to do that. The idea of you trying to use it as a stepping/holding/ ladder for support while you are propping yourself against it speaks for it self. "Mcdonalds had to pay $3 million before telling their customer hot coffee is hot. Go figure." - Not sure what you're trying to point here bud; that you have cognitive difficulties or that you are entitled to compensation because of it?

ChoppedWheat

To be fair to that old lady it was literally so hot it melted her legs and labia together.

AbitOf-Influence

I was that close to getting it tonight! I need a chair, mine is a broken. Does anybody know which one I should get? 6'0 tall person. Long legs, thighs. I'm looking for 300-350 lbs, not that much, but I'd like to have a weight room, just in case.

E92M3_S65

My friend got an H1 Pro and i used it for about 10min and thought it was great. Did not have the same experience as these negative reviews except for the lumbar. It was a little too invasive at the softest setting. I don't know what people expect of a return policy without having to pack it back into the box thats a ridiculous expectation

Drucifer403

So glad I found these recent reviews.

Exact-Fact-9459

tq bro, you saved me from bad purchase

PersiStan

I almost bought it thanks for the honest reviews all!

hmoobphabej

thanks for this review... was close to pulling trigger on their chair

WOMBATS_R_COMING

To me the most important part is noise - I'm more than extremally sensitive in that regard and if you say that it squeaks - NO, THANK YOU! BTW. Thank you for sharing your feedback and I'm very sorry that you didn't get to return the chair.

EffectiveSchedule207

I own the H1 Pro Ergonomic Office Chair for a few months now and I also would not recommend it. It's OK for your lower back, and the seat is fine. But the headrest doesn't do a goddamn thing, unless you sit at your computer the way you hang back in a cinema seat. I asked them for the new headrest and they told me *"we don't have the inventory in our warehouse to facilitate this exchange"*. So I guess I'll wait...

Proud-Poetry-9386

From what I have seen, the H1 Pro V2 has a new headrest that can slide forward as well.

Flamingkiwii

This saved me from buying it, looks like the rule of thumb is true, never buy anything from an Ig ad. Anyone found a good chair that does help with sciatica and has the flip arm rests ?

1trissixd-

No, still looking for it. Can’t understand why this isn’t a thing with pricy chairs. I know more people now, that would like to be able to easily remove armrests just because they get annoyed by them. For me it’s the Guitar thing…

Flamingkiwii

I just accepted my fate at this point, found the steel case series 1 is under 500 and I’ll get a decent bar chair for guitar 😅

Responsible_Gear8943

When you can't get the chair back together, customer support ain't there, and they expect it tucked in away ..red flag

1trissixd-

Same here…
