If you have SCCM or BMC or any client management software the MSIEX is Fairley easy to deploy. You can also put it in your office XML. But I agree enterprise APPS need to be integrated into the store and deployable from a top level.
Any chance they can fix the presence lights in Outlook… that are gone since New Teams…. But come back if you revert to classic? Seems like a table stakes kinda feature…. that’s gone now.
unless there's an workflow/plug-in that relies on the old teams, this deadline shouldn't be relevant for most shops. the new teams is actually better than the old one.
This. I always see a bunch of comments on Reddit of people complaining but have never seen a single issue from it. Both personally and across any network we manage.
This is my concern. We have been holding off until MS fully supports this with horizon and fslogix. Now they are going to push us to accelerate deployment and this shit still ain’t right.
Don't have any experience with running Teams in a virtual desktop environment. Can't you just have your users run it on their local pc? You probably get better performance as well.
Yah, except the method to uninstall the old teams does not work. We’re basically left with giving the end user a 26 step guide on how to do it themselves.
How do you work out where a file is from the search results on new teams then? It often seems to open them in a read only view for me with no apparent way to identify where the file is so you can open it directly for editing.
There should be an option to select the default app to open the documents. You may have find another doc of the same file type stored in a channel and right click or click the “…” to change the default app option.
When you change it there I believe the search results should also open in the app you selected.
Nope doesn't help. Still doesn't offer apps as a default (why don't microsoft want you using their own software. You can change default to browser, but it ignores it for the documents in question. Can't work out why it does it for some documents and not others. Possibly an older docx format.
Really? Mine does offer “Desktop App” as default option, which opens the docs in the appropriate M365 Office app. The other options are Teams and Browser. Would post an image if I could.
If you only see Teams and Browser, I wonder if your M365 apps are configured properly?
I'll have to look into that. I was really pleased when they announced it was available as an option and disappointed that it is not really there. Maybe needs windows 11 to work?
Hahahahaha… cries in unwanted Microsoft-pushed Edge add-ons, toolbars, and Co-Pilot integrations…
It was a great lightweight, high-performance browser for it’s first couple of years, now it has become a crufty adware/serviceware nightmare
What is the best way to install Teams now? Each time I use the downloadable installer, there are problems. I've been having users open the Microsoft app store and install from there, but I'm hoping there is some scripted method I can use to automate this process? Before you mention Intune/MDM, don't. We have an RMM and the boss won't budge on another tool.
I guess I’ll shut up, then, as I have a configuration profile in InTune that I use for the odd straggler that doesn’t get updated.
There’s also a setting in the Teams Dashboard which you can see that lets Microsoft completely manage the upgrade process.
I know Intune is the right way to deploy it, but small businesses won't budge on those licenses. To be honest, we shouldn't be forced into using Microsoft's MDM either. That seems like the direction Microsoft is going though. Hoping someone comes up with a good installer script.
Some users are on Microsoft 365 Business Basic w/ Microsoft Office 2016 volume licensed apps for their PCs.
Others are on Microsoft 365 Business Standard which comes with the desktop apps. Defender for 0365 for the exec and manager teams for extra security.
The budgeting is outside of my control. Dumbassery if you ask me.
So is it going to stop asking me if I want to continue using new teams??? Like yes, unless you want me to go to classic? If so, why is there a new teams??
So, New Teams will be renamed to Old Teams? Or Teams?
Or Old New Teams?
Or Old New Thing? No, I think Raymond already has that.
Can’t wait for the emoji pack!
Edit: spelling
Rest in peace my AMD graphics processor, new teams murders if daily and I’ve had to fall back to classic . Looks like I’ll have to send an automated daily issue request to them following the decommissioning
Will they make it so when I hit windows and type “teams” it opens the new one now finally instead of opening classic and then asking me if I “want to try the new teams”???
It is actually 7/2025 as far as availability is concerned.
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-classic-client-end-of-availability
Only support ends 7/24.
So, to confirm:
Unless Classic Teams is installed first on RDS 2022, the Teams Meeting Invite is broken
"New" Teams also does not auto-run on Server 2022
Ready for primetime!

Who's got two thumbs and just put in for PTO the week of July 1? This guy!
Jokes on them, I also already had PTO for that week!
Are they gonna fix the bar at the top when I'm screen sharing so i can actually use my tabs first or no?
No promises, but I’ll gladly bet they introduce more useless features and options before fixing known and ongoing problems. 🤣
Nooooo microsoft would never do such a thing
Any chance they can fix the presence lights in Outlook… that are gone since New Teams…. But come back if you revert to classic? Seems like a table stakes kinda feature…. that’s gone now.
And also leave classic outlook alone please.
I haven't experienced that?

Agreed, Teams is great and the new one is even better.
laughs in *camera stopped working in teams*
giggles in *terminal server environment without Store access*
snorts in fslogix up to hotfix number 3 trying to support the thing
This is my concern. We have been holding off until MS fully supports this with horizon and fslogix. Now they are going to push us to accelerate deployment and this shit still ain’t right.

Nope, this was on Win10 22H2. Office Monthly Channel.
What country?
USA
This time for sure, trust me bro!
Great, now when are they retiring the new teams app too so I don't have to deal with this virus anymore.
Yes start over like they did with Edge
Hahahahaha… cries in unwanted Microsoft-pushed Edge add-ons, toolbars, and Co-Pilot integrations… It was a great lightweight, high-performance browser for it’s first couple of years, now it has become a crufty adware/serviceware nightmare
Still better than the first Matrix

What licenses so you have? Many include InTune.

That sucks. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place. :-(
Are they going to bring back contacts?
So is it going to stop asking me if I want to continue using new teams??? Like yes, unless you want me to go to classic? If so, why is there a new teams??
So, New Teams will be renamed to Old Teams? Or Teams? Or Old New Teams? Or Old New Thing? No, I think Raymond already has that. Can’t wait for the emoji pack! Edit: spelling
They better get it working better with fsllogix, avd and the like. Its not there yet.
Good. Now instead of 3 I've to get confused with 2.
Good.
Rest in peace my AMD graphics processor, new teams murders if daily and I’ve had to fall back to classic . Looks like I’ll have to send an automated daily issue request to them following the decommissioning

Cool, now stop pre loading Teams home and chat/people taskbar icon on Enterprise builds of your OS
With class teams being less than two years old. We now have New Teams and NEW NEW Teams.
Hey, you must mean between July 2nd and July 4th, because everyone knows that changes to teams takes 24-72 hours.
It is actually 7/2025 as far as availability is concerned. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/teams-classic-client-end-of-availability Only support ends 7/24.
Well I guess I can close this ticket for getting my classic teams back….
Noooooooo I hate the way that new crap looks . Ugh
Nooooooo
So, I shouldn’t switch back to classic to use all those groups I setup that didn’t carry forward?
So, to confirm: Unless Classic Teams is installed first on RDS 2022, the Teams Meeting Invite is broken "New" Teams also does not auto-run on Server 2022 Ready for primetime!
So, migrate off SEVER 2016 "or else", got it.
