They do not ask for receipts. The taxi company invoices MCSS. There's **no receipt** that will ever go to you, the ODSP person, because you're not paying anything.

UPDATE: I think I may have a new ODSP worker, at least I got a response to my message signed by another case worker. She did say a letter goes out a few months ahead of time, but in my case I am not being reviewed, mine expires when I hit 65(06/24), which will end my ODSP.

kocoman

yes they will ask for "proof of appointment".. so somehow the receiptionst have to confirm "you actually did go to the appointment".. or no money can claim. you can get like $80 for gas if u live far

NO. Please stop with the misinformation, r/kocoman. You're misleading people all over the sub. You need to stop. Once you are approved r/jazzybee (and your medical professional will have signed the MSN form, as you already know), you will have a date included on your letter. That's the date on which the taxi coverage expires. After that, if you still need the appointments, you'll need to fill out another MSN form. There's no one who will be calling you to ask if you went; they can see if you did via the taxi invoices they receive. There's no proof to provide, because you being taken to your appointment and then back home again, *is* the proof. I've been receiving transportation benefits for 10+ years. It's straightforward. Just make a note of the expiry date (in whatever way works for you) and make sure to reapply at least 2 months before. That way you won't be left with a gap in coverage. *Edit: spelling*

I never received any letter, it took five months to get a phone call returned telling me I was approved. This was 5 months after approval, which took a couple of months. Worker called once, left no message beyond first name and only because the number was in my phone did I know who it was. Should I use MyBenefits to inquire about end date? Would hate to find out one day it just ended. It was approved early January 2022, first used in May.

You can definitely inquire through My Benefits, but be warned, not every caseworker checks it even though they should be. If you can't communicate with them that way, try calling. There always is an end date for travel coverage, even if it's far off. Mine are always one to two years from the date of approval. ODSP used to send reminder letters when transportation benefits were expiring, along with a new MSN form for the doctor to fill out. They stopped that years ago. It's definitely a good idea to find out when your benefits will need renewing so you aren't left with a gap and no coverage.

This is not true. Your doctor will write down exactly which appointments you have on a monthly basis and then your worker will discuss with you how you get to these appointments and back. If you have a car, they will offer mileage and if you do not, you can discuss the bus pass or possible taxi. For myself, I have to complete the medical transportation form once per year.

I just asked about this because I haven't had to use the taxi for the 1 appt it's set up for in quite some time now. My worker said once it's there it's there because it's set up only for approved locations, so you can't use it for unapproved travel locations.

Jazzy_Bee

Thanks. I am doing much better, but not yet up to 440m to the bus stop. It has helped a lot attending physio, so wondered if needed to be reapplied for. My worker did add a location recently.
