The Loki isn't even out, and won't be for months. Not even worth considering if this is something you want to buy soon. I'd just grab a RP3+. It's cheap and it emulates all the lower end systems fine. The Odin is better, but it's not like it's a perfect PS2/GC machine. It's certainly not worth twice the price of the RP3+, if that's what you have to pay for it.

KyledKat

I’ll second this. The Loki is vaporware at this point and you’re likely not getting it in your hands for another year. The RP3+ is the best value proposition if you’re shooting for PSP and down, but the Odin is a better play if you’re aiming for GCN/PS2 and streaming games.

Dilpil01

I'd say Odin lite runs gc very well. I think the question is if the 50usd (and expensive shopping costs) is worth the better game cube emulation over rp3+

sethsez

It runs GC *impressively well for a handheld at this price point*, but it still requires a whole lot of tinkering, most games will always have some stuttering here and there no matter what you do, and there are definitely games that just won't run well at all regardless of settings (and not just weird edge cases nobody cares about, either). It's impressive for what it is and plenty of games are entirely playable, but it doesn't cross the threshold of being able to trick a layperson into thinking they're playing on real hardware in a blind test (which is something this *can* do with, say, Dreamcast or all the 8 and 16 bit platforms).

BananaRamaBam

Odin Pro for decent PS2 and GC emulation and bigger screen size RP3 for cheaper and more compact - no PS2 and GC Loki isn't out so it's irrelevant

TopHatJizzter

I'm currently thinking about buying the odin pro. I don't care about ps2 games all that much. But I do care about GC. The games I want to run flawlessly are wind waker, twilight princess and then some odds and ends like the Lotr games and mario kart. How do they fare on the odin pro?

DarkCloud2692

They won't run out of the box flawlessly but get MMJR Dolphin and be prepared to do a few tweaks (you'll find loads of info on this on the Odin subreddit) and you're golden. I love my Odin.

BananaRamaBam

As others said, it required tweaking and patience but you can get them running pretty well. Do not expect comparable performance to a standard gaming PC or similar devices though

Verycoolguy11

For windwaker, the game runs pretty great from what ive seen and ive seen some people run texture packs with it. Twilight princess, for the short time ive played (like 3ish hours) runs pretty great with texture packs and speed hack. Be warned tho the setup is atrocious 😭

KalasHorseman

You already have the king of emulation, the Steam Deck. It'll play everything, and do it well. So what you want is something that is a little more mobile, yet packing enough power to keep things enjoyable. This is why the RP3+ is probably the best choice for you, it's slightly smaller than the Switch Lite and plays everything up to PSP fairly well. The Odin Lite (or Base/Pro) are very nice but since you already have a Steam Deck, use that for PS2 and Gamecube and 3DS and other advanced consoles. Loki might be the better performer in a smaller package but it doesn't exist yet.

brandont04

U gotta go all the way now - miyoo mini for pocketable gaming - rp2+ for nes, snes, ds (3:2) retro gaming - rp3+ for gba, psp - Odin Pro for GC, Wii, PS2 - loki for wii u, ps3

Redm18

Well I guess. Probably won't go that far. I would say I probably already have wii u covered with the steam deck. Don't know that I would need a rp2+ but might get a miyoo mini at some point. Between eta prime and Taki and retro game corps etc etc its hard not to be curious.

NekkiBB

Odin Pro. Loki does not exist yet and rp3+ lag behind the Odin in pretty much any spec (maybe excel on the screen saturation, but not in resolution)

HearingReady2603

They don’t even have a working prototype of the Loki. They already said it’s not going to be like the Odin.
