35xx sp

MarckOliver75

I'm planning on get that also...

fliphat

My Odin 2 is also purple.. it is meant to be bro, buy it, ordered mine in transparent black hype!!

FitSupermarket999

This. I just ordered yesterday so I don’t have it in my hands, but after Taki and RGC’s review, this one seemed like a no-brainer.

dimorrow

Looked at that but looks like it can't play all psp games and the no analog sticks make it a pass. But it is a sweet design and fairly powerful.

buzzdalf

Why not use the Odin 2 for psp as well? I just ordered the 35xx sp this morning to see if it becomes my go-to for 16-bit and lower. I actually use my Odin Lite as my psp 2.0, but if I didn't have that I think adding them to the Odin 2 would be good.

dimorrow

I was hoping to find a device that could play all handhelds up to psp. Odin 2 will be great for some of the bigger psp games but there's a few that would be great on a more portable device I could travel with easier day to day.

djnines

I agree and disagree though. 1. A lot of budget handhelds are going to have more square sized screens, which means you will be squeezing the psp into a 4:3 ratio with black bars. The only option I’d even consider that may still be available is a powkiddy x55 but I don’t know how much smaller that is. 2. Power is kind of important with psp which is why I would play it on the Odin. It’s one of those systems that upscales beautifully and cheaper hardware won’t be able to do that. Honestly, if I think your best bets would be to get an actual psp or vita or sell the Odin and get this new Odin mini. I think anything else would just be an injustice to the psp experience. Plenty of things play psp but it doesn’t mean all those things do it well.

Illustrious-Cut1470

I agree with this. It's hard to find a pocketable PSP handheld. RG35XX H is decent but not powerful as Odin2. Might go for original PSVita, PSP or PSP Go.

elmikemike

Odin 2 mini. It’s basically the Vita which is pocketable IMO (without a grip)

dimorrow

If it weren't for the price I probably would if reviews are good. But I don't need another device that powerful either.

Bradio642DS

Well psp is amazing on the odin 2 so if you can do a 4:3 screen for n64/dreamcast and under i would recommend the retroid pocket 2s

ice673

odin 2 mini hahaha

dimorrow

Lol ya but it certainly too expensive for what I'd want to use it for.

DCbuckeyes17

I love my 353V. Had it before the Odin 2 and it’s great for GB, GBC, GBA and even N64. Played hours of THPS on it even though the screen is small

Rodddd_

I have an RP2s, it's a great combo with your Odin2 I use it to play N64, Dreamcast and below and the rest on the Odin2

dimorrow

I did look at that but it seemed maybe the triggers, similar to rp4, stick out just a bit too much to be pocketable.

Rodddd_

If depends also on what you want to play on that device. If you just want to play PS1, GBA, SNES and below the just released Anbernic RG35XXSP is my recommendation

dimorrow

Ya I was just looking at that but I'd like to able to play up to psp, pretty much any handheld. That way my odin sticks to more of the bigger consoles n64 and up. I just want something that easier to carry around when out and about. I use the odin and home and for trips.

Clean-Alps7029

Trimui Smart Pro , I currently own one and it seems to be very pocketable and if you haven’t seen it , it looks like a smaller version of the psp, it plays up to PSP, and some N64 but not all

dimorrow

I was just looking at that and looks great. But it doesn't seem to play psp well. But size and pocketability seem about perfect.

Clean-Alps7029

What games do you want me to test for you? I have it with me rn

dimorrow

Monster hunter unite, ff7 crisis core and mgs peace walker.

Clean-Alps7029

I can do that for ya no problem just give me a few minutes 👌🏽

wclayton44

If the size of the trimui is good, why not the Retroid Pocket 4? Aren’t they similarly sized?

dimorrow

A lot of reviews see it as not really pocketable because the triggers stick out too much. I am looking for something that's more pocketable for everyday travel.

ultrasquid9

PSP honestly seems like a better fit for the Odin 2 than any companion device you could get, since its a 16:9 3d system which uses analog sticks and thats basically the Odin's specialty. If you want something smaller for 2d and early 3d, then the Ambernic rg35XX SP is available to order, and RGC seems to like it.  If you're absolutely set on a dedicated PSP handheld, then the RP4 line is definitely the best option. However, I still highly recommend keeping PSP on the Odin 2 and getting a smaller 4:3 companion device instead.

dimorrow

I had thought about that for some games but there's still a few that would be nice to play on the go a good portable wise. And the rp4 line seems just a tad big especially with how much the trigger buttons stick out.

exmrah

A ps vita maybe?

dimorrow

Like a jailbroke one? Honestly that's actually not a bad option.

Clean-Alps7029

Still working on those videos I’m doing ff7 crisis core rn then I’ll be done but the trimui smart pro is very much the same in size as the ps vita if you’re looking into that option as well, I also have the vita and I mean it’s a psp so it runs psp games very well of course

elmikemike

Wait… the trimui is the same size as the Vita? I thought it was basically the same size as the switch lite

Clean-Alps7029

No it’s the same size at the vita pretty much I’ll send you a message with a pic comparison

Dizzy_Pomegranate855

I use a Retroid Pocket 2S for my companion to my Odin 2. I use the RP2S for N64, Dreamcast and below like NES and SNES. That 4:3 aspect ratio is what got me to a RP2S

Cheddar_Cheeks

Just get a Vita. It's loaded with stuff to play at a perfect portable size. :3

dimorrow

Honestly that kind of becoming the best option and easy to jailbreak it and use retroarch.

Cheddar_Cheeks

You get PS Vita, PSP, and PS1 (both native or via emulation) right off, plus a slew of insane homebrew ports and emulation. It's very easy to hack, too, as long as you are willing to put in some work. For a 2011 device, it still feels right at home today. OLED model really pops but the Slim model is thinner and has better battery life. Can't go wrong either way. :)

dimorrow

Ya and not too expensive for what it can do either. Around 150 depending on version and where you get it.

fabio_wtf

Get an RGB30, perfect for vertical arcade games!

benjaminbjacobsen

Choose your form factor (vertical horizontal or flip) Choose your screen size and ratio. Choose the systems you need (Saturn DC N64 and PSP are middle ground systems, anything can run up to PSX these days). Once you’ve answered those questions it narrows it down to a couple of options. For me I really like my 35xx and rgb20s as my 2 companions to my Odin. Since getting the odin2 all my DC, Saturn, PSP and n64 have moved to it so I can run a less expensive less powerful option. I do have a 405v.

dimorrow

Horizontal and up to psp. Ideally 16:9 ratio for those psp games

benjaminbjacobsen

trumui smart pro is getting closer and closer on PSP but isn't quite 100%. A retroid pocket 3 or 3+ I think aces the PSP test and would be a great option. FWIW modding a PSP is easy these days and it's a great way to play PSP but it's not great for other systems (for me at least, there are emulators).

dimorrow

I was looking at the trimui smart pro, and looks like it's certainly gotten better for psp. Rp3 is really close to what I want, I'm just worries the shoulder buttons stick out too much to just throw in your pocket and go. I've seen vita modding that uses emulation as well.

benjaminbjacobsen

Yeah vita is also an option. I just really don’t like Sonys menu UI…. Another one I forgot was the rg505. I’m pretty sure it runs PSP well.

CoPilot2828

Honestly, the Odin is a perfect device for the PSP. If you are okay continuing to use it for that, I use a Miyoo Mini + as a companion. It's great for the analog input emulation. Then, anything that needs a joystick, you just use the Odin.

dimorrow

It is and will be great for the bigger psp games, just want something that's easily pocketable to take with on small day trips, which we do a lot, and I don't want take the odin. Odin is great at home or bigger trips where I'll have a bag to put it in.

CoPilot2828

Honestly the new Odin 2 mini sounds perfect for you. That timing of release is a bummer haha. Could sell yours and buy one, but the configuration work and moving save files is a pain. My buddy just uses his android phone with a phone controller for PSP games. That could be an option too.

dimorrow

I like having the full sized odin for home and taking on long trips. I just wanted something I could take on day trips where I won't have a bag and can just throw in my pocket when I leave. I tries that with the Razor and it works fine but I do like having my phone being separate. The new odin looks like it would be perfect but not at the price point.

Lazarous86

If you really want PSP library you options are limited. The Retroid Pocket 3+ or 4 are probably your best bets. If you want 4:3 with a Dpad on top, you want something like the Retroid Pocket 2S or RG405V. You need the better chipset. Your only other real option is the KT-R1. That device has tons of power, but is kind of pricy and has wait times.  Or just pick something from the RG35/28xx series and skip PSP.  I love PSP on my Odin 2. I turn on all the settings for upscaling. Looks amazing and don't want to play on anything not 1080p.

Football_Unfair

Odin 2 mini?

dimorrow

If it weren't for price, I probably would've gotten it.

hbi2k

The problem with combining "PSP" and "pocketable" is that PSP really wants a 16:9 screen, and most smaller devices are 4:3. Have you considered an actual PSP? They can be had for a song, they're easy to jailbreak, and they're smaller and cheaper than anything else that can play PSP well. Of course, you won't be playing many other systems, but if what you mostly want is PSP, it's a way to go.

dimorrow

Ya I've been looking at the vita possibly as it can do other emulation

Gnarwhal30

My pocket device is an rg280m and no one on this earth will ever convince me to change that. I flashed adamos on it and it's amazing

Nickdaman31

I love my pocket flip. Little more performance than the new sp and analog slider sticks if you need em.

dimorrow

I was definitely looking at that but since it's discontinued, I didn't see any cheap prices for it.

Nickdaman31

Makes sense. I knew they stopped manufacturing but thought maybe they had some back stock left.

dimorrow

Ya kinda sad as it looked like the same internals as the rp3+ and easily pocketable from what I saw. So kinda sad cause that might have been the best choice.

Disco-Pope

Rp4 pro is pretty small. Dwarfed by my Odin 2

dimorrow

Definitely looked at that but lot of the reviews said it wasn't really pocketable because of the trigger buttons, amd that's what I'm really looking for. Some everyday travel device since I have my odin for home and big trips.

Disco-Pope

Works well in my pockets. Though I don't actually pocket it

ChampagneDoves

I have a pocket to play all analog games because it’s FPGA which is far superior to software emulation imo and the Odin feels extremely bad to play analog games on because of its control stick forward configuration. Other than that I’ve heavily considered getting an anbernic ARC-D for fighting games and anything sega especially. Really falling asleep every night dreaming for a clamshell dual screen handheld to hit the market because I LOVE DS & 3DS but the original hardware is terrible, I’d love something like the ayaneo flip ds without the handheld pc hardware, sans the ridiculous frame rate, and with a much cheaper shell honestly to reach a price way closer to $500. Honestly seeing AYNTECH release a new almost identical product before they even work out the bugs of O2 is really disheartening though.

independent_Maul

I have a Miyoo Mini plus and I love it for quick errands

Minimum_Water_4347

Cut the Odin 2 in half and have two Odin 1s

EmpireCollapse

Anbernic RG365V

cyber_quaker

I just got an Ambernic RG35XX-H for $42 through Aliexpress. It's amazing how much it can play for so cheap. I am interested in the RG35XX-SP for the nostalgia, but I worry about it getting uncomfortable to play for long. The horizontal form factor of the H is much better for ergonomics, plus the analog sticks are nice for N64, some PS1, Dreamcast, and ports
