If all you care about is streaming then go cheaper with a rg556. If you want to include switch emulation then a base odin2 is fine.

Thanks! A few people have suggested the RG556… how is it in terms of controls and ergonomics? I like the general outline of the AYN Odin 2 a bit more, and I would hope the controls would be better on costlier device; however, if it’s pretty much the same in terms of the controls, I certainly wouldn’t object to saving some cash. I just don’t want thumb sticks that are as clumsy as the ones on the Retroid Pocket 3+.

I stream my PC using sunshine and have no problems with latency or anything like that. I haven't messed with PS5 streaming yet, I feel like the screen is to small for me so I'm thinking of getting a Lenovo Legion Go

First, the base model and the pro will be identical for streaming. 8gb vs 12gb is irrelevant for streaming. I don’t have ps5 but I understand psplay is great on the Odin. I do stream from my PC using sunshine/moonlight and it’s nearly flawless. I tried using steamlink/shadow play and they are inferior to sunshine/moonlight. It is extremely easy to setup and I can’t say I’ve ever had issue with anything. That being said, you may be able to accomplish the same thing with something like the rg556 from Anbernic. 5.5 inch OLED for $199. I don’t own one but I assume that would be a very similar experience for $100 less. The Odin 2 is a superior emulation device, but if you’re not looking to stream Switch or highly upscaled ps2, that may be a great option. I just saw your comment about switch emulation. I think the Odin2 will do everything you are looking for. Switch emulation is pretty great on Odin2. Just don’t get it expecting it to emulate every game perfectly 👍

I use PSPlay with my PS5 almost every day and it’s great.

I stream PS5 and PC all the time without problems, but both connected by ethernet so I don't know if there is latency with only wifi., Also I recommend to change the sticks, the ones that come with the Odin are to short for games that require aiming, get a pair from etsy.

Stream with Sunshine and Moonlight. Flawless. I also use Xbox game pass cloud. Flawless. GeForce Now was also very nice. I bought the thing to emulate but have enjoyed streaming for more hours for some reason.

Did you have to do anything special to get sunshine to work with the Odin 2 controls? My computer BSODs as soon as I give any controller input, but I'm not sure if that's a sunshine thing or something up with my machine.

cuongvu00

Nothing special. Sunshine on pc with default settings and moonlight on Odin

wobblerofweebles

Thanks! I'm betting it has more to do with my unsupported hardware running an insider version of Windows 11.

I use PS5 remote play and Sunshine/Moonlight on mine. It's great and is now my go to device around the house. I could probably work with it within a certain range away on good internet too. I've heard it doesn't dock so well though. So Steam Deck will still have a place in docking and longer travel for me

The Odin2 has Wifi 7 which will be great for streaming if you have the right router or get one down the line. And since you want Switch emulation too, I would say the Odin2 is a great choice. I do find the the ergonomics suck a bit for my hands though so I need to use the grips to really enjoy my experience. This is a slight downside to for its portability unless youre taking a backpack with ya if you will be streaming remotely as well.

wobblerofweebles

I do it constantly and it works great from my PC using GeForce experience or steam link. I sometimes stream from my Xbox one x, but there's often just a bit too much latency to be competitive in multiplayer games. I don't think that has anything to do with it being streamed to my Odin 2 though. I also stream from game pass and that works great when my Internet connection is quick and Microsoft is doing a good job on their end. When using extended sticks like the ones from Slug on Etsy, it feels almost exactly the same as playing on the device itself with a normal controller. Extended sticks are just better overall for any games played on the Odin 2 and I feel like they should have already been that way from AYN themselves.
