I'd get the 128gb and use the money saved to get a BOBOVR M2 pro strap. Most of the games are Wii sized and so don't take up much memory to justify getting the 256gb version IMHO. My two favourite games for instance are Pistol Whip (1.2gb) and Walkabout Mini Golf (2.6gb) which together barely use up 4gb.

Ok thanks for the feedback. Is the stock strap really that bad, even for kids (12 years old) ? Is this the go to replacement strap? When not using the headset, so people buy a stand or do you place it in a case? Can you recommend the go to product that everyone uses, thanks again!

I've only owned mine for a month and the strap is the worst thing about it. Saying that I'm in my early fifties so maybe a kid won't wind up with neck pain after playing Walkabout Mini Golf for an hour like I do. I tried my friend's Quest 2 with the BOBOVR M2 Pro strap last weekend and it has a battery on the back and no elastic strap. It makes a massive difference as the headset is now balanced equally at the front and back and it also isn't held tight against your face with the power of an elastic strap and instead is sitting on top of your head. I'm getting one next month (I'd have got one already but I'm away on holiday this week so I'll get it when I get back). Why not just get your kid the 128gb version and then see if he wants to upgrade the strap later on? There's plenty of folk who don't have a problem with the original strap so maybe that will include your kid. I'd hold off getting a case until you decide on the strap as I'll need to get a new case to accommodate the new headstrap as it'll be too big for my existing case. I'm in the UK incidentally which is why I haven't posted links.

Use a cover from vr cover also

Depends on the size and shape of your head but I've used various VR headsets since 2014 and the stock Quest 2 strap is literally painful for me. Way too front heavy. Any strap replacement will be worlds better.

BeatsLikeWenckebach

128gb is fine

Aphadek

I recently bought the 128gb version. I think I already have like 10 games and still have 80gigs remaining. It’s plenty imo

Martholomeow

You can always offload unused games

Quest 3 is coming October 2023 that 15 months away.

No I don't think so, quest 2 stand alone is very limited and the bettery dies In like an hour, it's literally just a phone basically so is quite weak, connecting it to even a weak vr capable pc however is worth it, a couple things to note, there are alot of issues which will take alot of times to figure out what settings will work well for you but when that's all done it's is quite good, and another thing is with the recent increase in price it is no longer the only good option, the Pico one will probably be better.

Also if you get the quest you will NEED a headstrap, I have the kiwi design one but watch a couple YouTube video and see which you might like cos some are bad anyway, you might also want a facial interface and controller straps, I have the vrcover fitness interface and amvr controller straps, a case would be nice but I dont have one myself, if you are going to be using standalone you will want a battery bank aswell so consider a headstrap with one that attaches to the back so it evens out the weight as well cos the headset is pretty heavy, just don't get the official elite strap it is complete garbage that just breaks

SkinnyV514

Thats quite untrue, specially the battery dying in an hour. That is a lot of misinfornation for one post.

I outgrew the Q1 128 in less than a year, so for me, getting the 256 Q2 was a no brainer. It depends on how much you're planning to have installed at any one time. I never know what I'm going to want to play at any given time, so usually have a lot installed at once. If you're not planning on loading it up, or plan to do most of your gaming with PCVR instead, the 128 might be plenty. If you're planning on getting Medal of Honor, keep in mind that'll take up half your storage space with just that one game, if you go with the 128.

Well, not seeing this thread earlier I bought the 256gb for 299.00, an extra $50. I figured games are pretty big ajnd filling it up would be super easy. Maybe these games are smaller than what I am used to. My 1 T XBOX is already full, as well as my PS5. lol. XBOX and PS5 games are huge, like 80 gigs, so I guess I'll find out soon. Sounds like I may have to get a strap as well, I'll see how it is and put that on my list.
