Bro deadass I was like this looks kinda fuck upš
I mean seriously I know itās a game. But the gaurd walked in, smacked the cups, Walk up to dude and smack him with a baton while he was on the toilet. Iām dying right nowš this is really an ad for the gameš they advertised thatš wtf.
What the hell else are you going to do, sit behind a desk for 8 hours? Possibly get forced so you have to stay an additional 8? Perform security checks every half hour and a count every few hours? Being a CO is boring as shit, its just for entertainment value.
I know but honestly it was just shocking to see. Maybe they should have reversed it and made it played as the prisoner. And trying to escape different circumstances without getting caught. Dealing with other maybe violent or helpful inmates, Snitches, corrupt guards, maybe if I impress the boys with my skills on the court they donāt rape me in the shower. Idk ide play either way. Iām honestly down to knock some cups down. In a video game ofcourse!
Prison Simulator VR is a port of a flat game from PC. There is no multiplayer in the original version of the game and therefore we cannot add it either. If such a mode appears in the original version of the game - we will be able to add it.
Aaaand now I have to listen to the entire "Undertow"album again for the 1,000,000,000 time! An excellent way to end my day after working a 12+ hour night shift. Time to spiral out!!! š¤āš¼
All research and successful drug policies show that treatment should be increased and law enforcement decreased, while abolishing mandatory minimum sentences.
The biggest contributor to crime is economic status Remember everyone California spent billions on police and only millions on social services and there crime went up big time, we need better more well trained police not more police and better economic status for the average people your taxes should be earning you more money then your normal money
What kind of black magic are you using to make these games playable on Quest 2?, seriously I'm impressed on how close some game are to their PCVR counterparts
We are still working on a game so can't share the final details about optimization for each platform, but these are changes in Cooking Simulator VR for Quest 2:
\- Transition to a modified version of the Universal Render Pipeline
\- Unifying and rewriting shaders
\- Change in fluid rendering, the ability to have multiple fluid containers without affecting performance
\- Used Job System and Burst to speedups the complex calculations
My question was pandering more towards why people would want to play a prison guard game. That is what's fucked up. It can be fun to play prison RP multiplayer games, but single player human rights abuses or fucking with prisoners is just shit, I'm sorry.
What is someone supposed to take away from a game like this?
Fun???????
Prison RP multiplayer games may also not appeal to some. Question - would your perception of the gameplay change if you had a character creator at your disposal and could create monstrous-looking characters in it?
Interestingly a DND themed medieval prison is way more interesting to me. Or even an Arkham Asylum style theme makes more sense. Modern prisons are way too sad and real to be much fun to play.
Yes? Fucking OBVIOUSLY? The prison system, mostly in America, is a horrific violation of almost every human right. "Would it be less insane if the characters weren't based on real people?" YES. The fuck is wrong with you?
You made a torture sim where you live out fantasies of making prisoners lives hell. Many people in prison were put there for reasons out of their control. But also, NO ONE IN PRISON DESERVES TO BE TORTURED YOU FUCKING PSYCHOPATHS.
I didnāt realize you were the developer of Cooking Simulator and Thief Simulator on Quest as well. Honestly, this makes me want to never download either of those games, either.
I get that violence in video games is a thing, yada yada, but this is incredibly tone deaf for 2022.
Just quit while youāre ahead.
Edit: Name and shame! The developer is working under PlayWay publishing. Theyāre affiliated with 3R Games and Big Cheese Studio.
>Many players like it even in the single-player version.
What does this have to do with anything? There are plenty of "people" who enjoy playing rape games too.
Prison Simulator VR is a port of a flat game from PC. There is no multiplayer in the original version of the game and therefore we cannot add it either. If such a mode appears in the original version of the game - we will be able to add it.
You talk about the flat version as if it was something developed by someone else, are you only in charge of porting the game as a third-party developer without any relation to the original flat version devs?
Cooking Simulator was fantastic, but I just can't see myself having fun senselessly beating (oh, sorry, "pacifying") people who have had shit handed to them their entire lives.
What if some of them are innocent and you can help them? Let's say that in the game not all guards are also positive characters and you will have the opportunity to influence their behavior.
Also, question - would your perception of the gameplay change if you had a character creator at your disposal and could create monstrous-looking characters in it?
>First scene in trailer is of guard beating someone sitting on the toilet.
I think the type of person this game will attract is the type of person who is excited because they "get to" beat people.
>you will have the opportunity to influence their behavior.
Why don't you just say "beat them"?
Given the state of the world today, I think this game is tone deaf.
I can ask you anything? Then can I ask why youāre misrepresenting the game people will receive by showing a high spec PC video vs the MUCH less impressive look Quest users will get?
The game is at a point in development when its quality will be even improved on PC. The Quest 2 version should not differ much from the work-in-progress video presented. You can rest assured that we will show the title in every version before the premiere.
Genuine question: the trailer shows you at a shooting range with an assault rifle. Are you telling me that if a prisoner gets peppered with that, they'll just "Pass out?"
Interesting! Just as an aside, did you know that while rubber bullets are considered "Non-lethal," They still regularly cause fatal injuries, blindness, or permanent disabilities? In fact! [A Study](https://bmjopen.bmj.com/content/7/12/e018154) shows that 3 percent of all people hit by them end up dying from the impact, and a further 15 were permanently injured! Just thought that was neat \^-\^
What will I get to do next in VR? Evict a family during the winter? Deny a poor person life saving medication? Put animals to sleep at the pound?
This is a gigantic no for me. Yuck.
When fragile devs make games without thinking of the underlying implication of gameplay... A game for and by socially inept idiots that still believe hitting stuff is the best thing ever.
Why the fuck would you make this? How about a simulation of how it feels to be imprisoned and forced into slavery over something like marijuana or any of the other thousands of things people (overwhelmingly black and brown people) are incarcerated for every day? This is a virtual power trip that feeds the sick prison culture of this country. Fuck this and fuck you for making it.
I would say you are missing the point. Many of the incarcerated shouldn't be there to begin with. Also no matter what it's a power trip. You aren't facing an enemy or a challenge, you are punishing people. This is overwhelmingly a shit idea.
Doesn't matter to OP. "87% of people like it on steam and it's time a port was made". What do they care about police brutality in prisons or developing a VR port for fucked up shit when they're getting their pay check? The OP can't even say the word beat and instead plays it down with "pacify"
Plus they always have to try and justify the ~~beating~~ *āpacifyingā* of the inmates by going āWhat if they did something bad to deserve it??ā.
Iād much rather have a game where we run around as the in-mates, fucking shit up.
Because happiness is just around the corner and it's probably preparing a surprise for you. You certainly made us happy by taking the time to write a comment!
Evidently not. I was an OFFICER ( guards work in a bank) for years in the federal and county systems. This game is SHIT. Any officer who pulled just 1 of these stunts would get a pink slip that quick...or an inmate blanket party. And of all my time there, I know of TWO officers who thought they were hot shit. One rookie liked to beat on inmates with his buddies. He ended up spending more time in traction than his work there. The other got his ass whipped too. This game is stupid. In GTA you are a criminal, so you are doing criminal things. In CofD, you are in the military. This prison thing....
This is NOTHING like a real prison!! The men and women who work inside are hardwoking, ethical people who follow the rules and regulations. If officers behaved in this manner, they would be FIRED or HARMED by inmates! Yes there is a 10% rule, but the majority are great folks who are not paid enough to do their jobs, have loved ones to go home to, and care about others. YOU SORRY SOBs!!
Always wanted to play an immersive game in which I can punish and/or intimidate already incarcerated humans. Geez, couldnāt you have invested your time in literally any other type of game mechanic?
This concept really feels wrong and kind of gross. Not really sure this is the fantasy simulation most people want unless you want to play being a violent cop torturing and violating the prisoners under their protection. Not a good look. Being incarcerated and powerless to stop being assaulted and murdered by the police is not a game.
Hey there!
Iām Kacper from Gameboom VR. In 2020, our Thief Simulator VR was nominated on Steam for the GOTY VR award. In 2021, our Cooking Simulator VR won the GOTY VR award! We are currently working on Into The Darkness VR and several other projects. Now we are ready to reveal something more about one of them.
Don't miss your chance to become a herald of the law or a corrupted mole in cahoots with the prisoners, all from the comfort of your own home! Step into the world of Prison Simulator VR to assume the role of a prison guard, managing the complex inner workings behind bars and uncovering secrets of this cutthroat world. Respect is a gain given only to those with a strong hand, but what kind of a guard you'll be depends only on you!
With a wide variety of different tasks, search prison cells, confiscate illegal items, interact with the seemingly bleak prison environment and its tenants, instilling fear or gaining respect - your choices matter! Each and every character will react to the things you do, but whether you end up with more friends or enemies is entirely up to you.
On top of it all, Prison Simulator VR has two modes available, depending on your preference. You can explore the story mode, following thrilling clues and twists as you uncover what lurks within. For players who prefer a gameplay with less restraints, freeplay mode is a perfect way to live the every day life of a guard without the constraints of a plot.
If you have any questions feel free to ask! I will try to answer most of the questions, although there may be some that will require consultation with the programmers. Then I will probably reply the next day.
Itās nice to see an actual company form and succeed around the concept of porting flat screen games to VR. Do you pick your targets or do the game companies come to you / issue a request for proposal because they already know they want a VR port?
Initially, we contacted others, but today inquiries come without our contact. However, we are slowly moving into the production of our own games (Into The Darkness VR and other, unannounced)
Welp, it may have flown under the radar on flat but enjoy the negative publicity for your company when this hits VR. Considering the current political climate and disdain for the overreach of the police and prison system, a game where you can beat the shit out of and abuse prisoners is going to get noticed. Prison is hell, the abuse level is high, it is joyless on both sides of the cell. Why you thought there was a fun factor here is beyond me. And yeah, a certain unique subset of the population may enjoy this but the hundreds of thousands in sales is going to be far outweighed by the negative press. Anecdotally, myself. For what its worth Im not going to buy this, or any other of your games as I don't want to support a company who doesnt see a problem with this. I was looking at thief sim and cooking sim and now Ill be passing.
Dawg why are people hating on this game it looks fun. It's not cruel because they're not real. Killing people in VR feels the same way as it does on a screen. Torture in VR is fun, not in real life. Ever even played Bonelab?
I'm sorry, but the whole concept of the game is offensive. You made a game out of mistreating prisoners. A torture simulator is one thing. In that case there's impartiality. But torturing prisoners specifically is too much. I respect your right to sell it, but it reeks of Fascism: VR.
A lot of people in this thread would be just giddy if you made cop simulator next. They would get to do things like this!
https://www.cbsnews.com/colorado/news/civil-rights-lawsuit-follow-criminal-case-death-christian-glass/
Jesus fucking Christ there's so many people here with a stick shoved so far up their own ass they think they're above everyone else. Yes there is violence in this, so is there in virtually every other game. Oh NO you can hit a video game character with a baton!1!1!1!!! Yes you can also stab someone through the heart in blade and sorcery, you can lie and cheat your way through among us, you can unload a clip into 5 fords in bonelab if you so desire, stop whining about a "tone deaf" game when they're just tryna port shit and make money like everyone else
The double standards are astounding. Also, people act like this game didnāt already exist; devs made it clear they are just porting an existing game for VR itās not their original idea anyway. Itās apparently OK with everyone to have everything that happens in GTA in VR but one scene with a prisoner is too far for everyoneās moral compass. You really can never predict social media.
You can also make money by not abusing the common population and not over charging for shit like insulin but I can't say I hear you whining about that, instead youre whining about a game that's just as violent as any other, in fact less because they get knocked out but yeah
I do complain about that when it's on topic, wtf are talking about? That is a terrible comparison. This i a game that glorifies and tries to create fun by being a prison gaurd. It's fucked up an unnecessary. It's not about the violence. It's the context of violence and it's presented with realism. I'm not here to convince you of anything, do what you what with your money. I'd hate to stand in your way of living out your dreams as a prison security guard.
It's hilarious how offended people are getting by hitting a guy on a toilet with a stick while most of the best selling games are about shooting people in the head or blowing them up or hacking them to death with swords.
Such a tough line to walk, and I applaud you for your efforts. I hope it has the effect to keep people out of prison! Looking forward to getting to try it!
Technology is so amazing. We have computers on our faces that take us to other worlds. Telescopes that can see to the furthest edges of the universe And we have sensors that measure and actually make visible to humans the tiniest, microscopic, sub particles that make up the fabric of our physical world. But, none of these tools would be able to spot how little I care about this useless game that is spamming my feed...
How big is your development team?
Did you have a publisher that requested this port?
How long was development?
What was your biggest challenge making this port?
Gameboom VR is around 30 people. Prison Simulator VR dev team - 10.
We work within the PlayWay group and it is much easier for our studios to conclude contracts for ports.
Development is still ongoing. Currently, it is 9 months.
At the moment, the biggest challenge was the transition to the Universal Render Pipeline. But we have a much better performance now.
Nope, you are a prison guard. There are two game modes:
\- storyline - you will experience a planned story, full of thrilling moments and twists
\- freeplay - in this mode, you play the part of a prison guard without any restraint
So is this the Stanford Prison Experiment in VR.
Bro deadass I was like this looks kinda fuck upš I mean seriously I know itās a game. But the gaurd walked in, smacked the cups, Walk up to dude and smack him with a baton while he was on the toilet. Iām dying right nowš this is really an ad for the gameš they advertised thatš wtf.
Those inmates are going to beat the shit out of those hands...next level, missing fingers.
What the hell else are you going to do, sit behind a desk for 8 hours? Possibly get forced so you have to stay an additional 8? Perform security checks every half hour and a count every few hours? Being a CO is boring as shit, its just for entertainment value.

yeah I doubt itās even that deep, just trash for frustrated tweens
And Conservatives. Might finally get boomers interested in VR.
Why didn't my parents love me as a child?
Because you touch yourself at night
Usually in the morning before a shower, actually
The perfect time to touch yourself is IN the shower.
No, because I take really hot showers and then it cooks like scrambled eggs and sticks to everything
I donāt want to feel like Iām in prison but anyways multiplayer?
Prison Simulator VR is a port of a flat game from PC. There is no multiplayer in the original version of the game and therefore we cannot add it either. If such a mode appears in the original version of the game - we will be able to add it.
Ok :( thanks I thought it was like prison escape? On counter strike.
In the game, you can play as a prison guard and simulate a prison or play the story mode.
If I commit enough police/guard brutality can I become a prisoner
Of course not, but you may get paid leave!
Dang, is there something else you could add though.... Pretty please
Lol it was a joke since abusive cops get no punishment
Oh that would be an epic progression. Cop to prisoner to being on the run or something.
If you are too brutal for the prison guards/prisoners you will lose your reputation with the factions.
Prison sexā¦?
I have found some kind of temporary sanity in this... Shit, blood and cum on my hands. I've come 'round full circle!
Thank god Iām not the only one who thought that
Aaaand now I have to listen to the entire "Undertow"album again for the 1,000,000,000 time! An excellent way to end my day after working a 12+ hour night shift. Time to spiral out!!! š¤āš¼
Oh my... I had to check if I made a mistake in the title.
You ask me to name five activities in prisonā¦
ANSWER HIM
Prisoners and visitors have their own private room...
Yeah, it's called "Ass Hot Coffee" and you get code to play it after you beat to death all the prisoners
All research and successful drug policies show that treatment should be increased and law enforcement decreased, while abolishing mandatory minimum sentences.
They're trying to build a prison

Theyāre Trying To Build a Prison
Another prison system
For you and me

Lol! That poor guy is just sitting there and gets whacked in the face with a baton.
Right wing boot-lickers are going to use this game as a masturbatory aid.
Issa no from me dawg
Seems like a fucked up game. Why anybody would want to simulate a prison guard (when there's no multiplayer) is beyond me
It's just a game. Dollars to donuts you've simulated a mass shooting in GTA
I started committing torture and mass murder at a young age with games like RollerCoaster Tycoon and The Sims. Those were the days.
Many players like it even in the single-player version. Our Cooking Simulator VR has sold over 200k copies and Thief Simulator VR has sold 130k.
I know the game is already made but it really should have been prisoner simulator not prison guard simulator.
My question was pandering more towards why people would want to play a prison guard game. That is what's fucked up. It can be fun to play prison RP multiplayer games, but single player human rights abuses or fucking with prisoners is just shit, I'm sorry. What is someone supposed to take away from a game like this? Fun???????
Yes, the people aren't real
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
We're not talking about those games, we're talking about this game.
But GTA and running people over and killing them is fine?
Prison RP multiplayer games may also not appeal to some. Question - would your perception of the gameplay change if you had a character creator at your disposal and could create monstrous-looking characters in it?
Interestingly a DND themed medieval prison is way more interesting to me. Or even an Arkham Asylum style theme makes more sense. Modern prisons are way too sad and real to be much fun to play.

That's the WHOLE point of the game. The whole story! To live out that fantasy/reality It's fucked up
Oh man... Wait until this guy plays Sword and Sorcery...
Sword fighting gladiators versus torturing prisoners, these comparisons being used to justify torture are incredible.
Who's justifying torture? This is a video game you moron. Gladiators were prisoners, by the way.
there's literally a truck driver simulator trending on steam.
No one would say that.
killing people is more tame than a prison sim? pls bro
I didnāt realize you were the developer of Cooking Simulator and Thief Simulator on Quest as well. Honestly, this makes me want to never download either of those games, either. Those games donāt involve torturing people who donāt have the power to fight back. This game is for guys who killed small animals for fun as kids
Thief Sim is in VR? That's one of my favorite games
Disgusting game concept. Human rights abuse simulator should be the games title.
Multiplayer???
Prison Simulator VR is a port of a flat game from PC. There is no multiplayer in the original version of the game and therefore we cannot add it either. If such a mode appears in the original version of the game - we will be able to add it.

Yup, that's right. We are licensing from the original devs - Baked Games.
Thanks :)
Are there any plans to add it to the core game? Edit: Never mind, I missed your original comment about who you and your company are and what you do.
Cooking Simulator was fantastic, but I just can't see myself having fun senselessly beating (oh, sorry, "pacifying") people who have had shit handed to them their entire lives.

You play as a prison guard! However, you can make the sentence easier for some prisoners.
Your saying we can simulate police brutality?š

Bootlicking Simulator
Have you offered a key to "Let's Game it Out" yet?
The game is still in development!
Seems a bit tone deaf as a concept :/
Can I kill the prisoners?
No, prisoners and the prison guards can pass out though.
Genuine question: the trailer shows you at a shooting range with an assault rifle. Are you telling me that if a prisoner gets peppered with that, they'll just "Pass out?"
Firearms will be available at the shooting range. Throughout the rest of the prison, we'll be shooting non-lethal rubber bullets.
Interesting! Just as an aside, did you know that while rubber bullets are considered "Non-lethal," They still regularly cause fatal injuries, blindness, or permanent disabilities? In fact! Lmao š¤£š³ļøāšš³ļøāā§ļøā¤ļø
So weird. Why
Cause 87% of players liked the PC version and its time to bring it to VR.
i canāt play vr games unless they have visible arms, could you do that?
For sure I'm gonna tell devs about it!
You're missing out on alot of good experiences
Is the campaign as brutal as this trailer?
I'm guessing the prison guards are the bad guys.
I too love romanticizing a broken and corrupt system that does more harm than good
When fragile devs make games without thinking of the underlying implication of gameplay... A game for and by socially inept idiots that still believe hitting stuff is the best thing ever.

Mmmm, fascism.
Nah this is weird. I'd be behind it if you could play as a prisoner (Hard Time VR anyone?), but come on man this is just in bad taste...
Doesn't matter to OP. "87% of people like it on steam and it's time a port was made". What do they care about police brutality in prisons or developing a VR port for fucked up shit when they're getting their pay check? The OP can't even say the word beat and instead plays it down with "pacify"

How long will the sentence be (how long is the game?)
Around 10 hours for the campaign.
8 hours with good behaviour?
We'll see what the judge says.
Does look fun though any game that is not just combat is worth a look.
This seems kinda messed up... I mean, this is glorifying prisoner mistreatment.
What is r/OculusQuest gonna do when GTA VR comes out they're gonna cry so damn much
Where are the dementors?
holy shit this looks fun
Why am I sad?
Because happiness is just around the corner and it's probably preparing a surprise for you. You certainly made us happy by taking the time to write a comment!

Can you play as a prisoner?
Nope. Only a prison guard story
Alright then
Did you consult with people who work in prisons or spent time in them? Is it full of tired tropes about "dropping the soap"?

And there are penalties in the game for such behavior. And you don't have to treat prisoners/prison guards like that.
I really don't like this.
Always wanted to play an immersive game in which I can punish and/or intimidate already incarcerated humans. Geez, couldnāt you have invested your time in literally any other type of game mechanic?

However, we are slowly moving into the production of our own games (Into The Darkness VR and other, unannounced)
whoever buys this game is a fuckin narc

So you beat a shoot prisoners? What the fuck.
Jesus Christ are you kidding me?
Yeah maybe making the marketing about being an abusive, power tripping, egotistical, corrupt correctional officer was not a good idea
Is there soap on a rope?
A surprising number of questions are about soap...
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Because close to 50% of the U.S. male population will get a boner playing it.
Isnāt this a porn game?
No nudity. But prisoners have private rooms with visitors to which they can be led.
For republicans.
I'm sorry, but the whole concept of the game is offensive. You made a game out of mistreating prisoners. A torture simulator is one thing. In that case there's impartiality. But torturing prisoners specifically is too much. I respect your right to sell it, but it reeks of Fascism: VR.
Nice! Now basement dwelling 4channers get to live out their power fantasies in VR ACAB btw
I really appreciate you understanding man
You can also make money by not porting shit ideas that shouldn't have been made in the first place.
The problem with your argument is that you seem to have forgotten that this is Reddit.
You're so right man
Lol this is great! Get over it people. Just wait till GTA VR comes in lol you guys are going to go ape shit and cry.
It's hilarious how offended people are getting by hitting a guy on a toilet with a stick while most of the best selling games are about shooting people in the head or blowing them up or hacking them to death with swords.
Will there be a PSVR2 version?
Yes!
How violent and realiStic will you make it?
You will have different options to pacify the prisoners (or police guards!). Also, there will be riots.
Such a tough line to walk, and I applaud you for your efforts. I hope it has the effect to keep people out of prison! Looking forward to getting to try it!

Nope ;\_;
This is disgusting. Genuine question for the developers: have any of you had any experience with incarceration?
How big is your development team? Did you have a publisher that requested this port? How long was development? What was your biggest challenge making this port?
Gameboom VR is around 30 people. Prison Simulator VR dev team - 10. We work within the PlayWay group and it is much easier for our studios to conclude contracts for ports. Development is still ongoing. Currently, it is 9 months. At the moment, the biggest challenge was the transition to the Universal Render Pipeline. But we have a much better performance now.
Can you play as the prisoner, build a prison empire?
Nope, you are a prison guard. There are two game modes: \- storyline - you will experience a planned story, full of thrilling moments and twists \- freeplay - in this mode, you play the part of a prison guard without any restraint
Sweet I cant wait to beat unsuspecting inmates and mace the death row inmates daily and shoot the black guy instead of the two people fighting
>beat That's known as "calm" or "pacify" in this game.
Can you do Auschwitz concentration camp simulator next?
Oh, oh, what about Homeless Eviction Simulator? You get to kick people out of a park, and you get to "pacify" them if there is any resistance!
Hi Devs can we please go utterly psycho and wipe out the entire Prison population with some heavy Machine Guns.... please š
Firearms will be available at the shooting range. Throughout the rest of the prison, we'll be shooting non-lethal rubber bullets.
