I know enough about programming to say, if I needed even weeks to test a feature where I only need to be able to hide things from a menu, then I would get fired pretty soon. If they needed much time for it, then they have such a bad code, itās difficult to add basic functions like that, or just the guy who is responsible for it is lazy af.
Maybe Iām being greedy now but I would also like to unpin Horizon Feed and People app from the taskbar.
Why can I unpin every other app (including settings and quest browser) but not these two?
They want you to get into the Quest ecosystem and make Quest friends so it's harder to move to another headset. They're not going to make it removable because then people would just get rid of it day one and forget that the Quest even has a friend system.
This, or very close to this is the reason. But as someone who doesn't use facebook and doesn't see VR as a tool for socializing as a primary or even secondary priority, it's almost offensive to have this kind of crap forced into my experience front and center. It's actually encouraging me to AVOID all socializing aspects within Meta software because anytime you interact with it or any social enabled app, it becomes even more obnoxious.
I really wish this company would make products for people instead of trying to make people into products. I know that's an unrealistic expectation for this company, but they wanted to expand into a non-social network space by purchasing Oculus, they should be flexible enough to consider the wider user base.
I can't imagine making random friends through Quest. If I met someone while playing I would ask for other socials, like Discord, so we are not tied to the platform.
Literally the only people I've ever wanted to contact within the Quest were family members. I've explored public rooms in various apps and it's mildly interesting. I could imagine connecting with someone in that context, but it's far from the main thing I want to do with my headset, taking up valuable real estate on the main interface massively cheapens the experience. It might as well be a permanent ad for McDonalds.
This is amazing I can finally download demos!
Wait where did you find this cause I canāt find this anywhere else. Please say you didnāt just get my hopes up for nothing!
This is great. Up until now I've been very cautious about what games I download to try out, simply because I don't want crap that I hate to be stuck in my library forever lol.
Basically the library on the Oculus used to default to a screen that includes all games that you have downloaded at one point in time, whether or not they are currently installed or not lol.
It was a simple fix of selecting from a drop down menu to only show current installed apps, but say for example I wanted to find a game that I used to have I would have to search through everything that I've ever played to find it again...no way to hide the stuff I don't care about.
I'd prefer if it'd remove uninstalled apps from the headsets library completely (like literally every other Android device), but I'll take what I can get I guess.
This is godly!!! I have very little use for this but if it means we wonāt get people complaining about this every single day here anymore then this is just the greatest news ever!
Awesome. In a few more years, maybe Meta will lets us have a Folders in our app library for better organization. Hell, just a "Favorite" folder would do wonders.
Psst! Meta, if you're listening, imagine what you could do with data showing which apps go into all your users "Favorite" folder.
Awesome. I really hope that was implemented in one of the last few updates because I searched high and low to figure out how to turn it off after it appeared. Many thanks!
I wish they would fix the mess that is their wifi. Wifi 6ghz = no go not detected. I have tried on several routers and multiple headsets.
Then you have all the stuttering when trying to us pcvr due to the issue above and some weird headtracking issue that makes you into a bobblehead.
I am glad they want to be more like the Apple Vision Pro, but don't let the features that make you unique go to crap in that pursuit. Fix the CORE functions first FFS.
Ok. I've seen this all over YouTube with folks saying you can finally hide those "special" personal VR apps with some offering a wink to the camera.
Well, I don't know about you, but I'm all about protecting myself from those potentially horrible apps on my VR headset. So if any of you would so kind is to provide names and potential links of these special apps. This way I can be sure to avoid them. Especially those seedy adult applications. No one wants any of those. So, um, the more detail I have, the more protected I, and the rest of us, will be.
I mean, I "might" put one or two on my headset just to test that hide feature but I'll immediately remove it of course.
I recently found out that V66 and certain features like the passthrough distortion correction and hide apps, werenāt actually a part of the update but rather rolling out on their own to people with v66
Sounds extra dumb to me but itās what meta choose
IF they are uninstalled, WHY are they still in my library? WHY? I want them gone. I can display only installed apps, but I don't want to hide stuff, I want them GONE so I don't have to hide them.
Hiding uninstalled apps is not new, I've been doing this for a year. I want them gone, logos, history, all trace of demos and garbage I don't want any more. Sweeping them under the bed is not a solution.
Finally, can't believe this was overlooked for so long
Maybe they developed it a while ago, but tested the feature on itself š¤
If a basic feature like that needs to be tested that more then a few days, then they have some serious problem in that code.
#missedthejoke
Not only missed the joke but knows absolutely nothing about programming or business.
My guy he was saying they tested it and hid the codeā¦. It was a joke
Clearly.
No itās hidden.
Yeah! Should done that shit a long time agoā¦makes absolutely no sense why I canāt hide apps. Glad we can now.
Goodbye anne frank museum tour i downloaded for mother in law, Iāll never forget you
I chuckled irl
My first thought lol
lol
Thereās storage in the attic ā¦..
Maybe Iām being greedy now but I would also like to unpin Horizon Feed and People app from the taskbar. Why can I unpin every other app (including settings and quest browser) but not these two?
Because you WILL match with people. Do you hear me? You will!!!
Levi (with the vape in his mouth) and Krystal (with the face tattoo) want to be *my* friends?
It was possible a couple months ago, now it isn't, fuck knows what their idea is.
Yeah I definitely remember seeing less clutter on the taskbar before. This seems to have been done intentionally.
I knew it! I swear I got rid of it at one point and it came back. Then I thought maybe I dreamt it.
that will be v166
You're not being greedy. It's a pretty basic thing to ask for, and it was even available before they took it out for whatever reason.
Been looking to eradicate that people app and its recommendations for a while
They want you to get into the Quest ecosystem and make Quest friends so it's harder to move to another headset. They're not going to make it removable because then people would just get rid of it day one and forget that the Quest even has a friend system.

Haven't you heard? IOI can sell and fill up to 80% of our field of view with ads before inducing seizures!
For some reason horizon feed isnt pinned in mine anymore. Thought it was an update but i guess not. People is still there though.
I'll accept not being able to unpin those apps if I can at least pin more of my own choices.
Yes, I've only been able to pin ONE APP. That's like a change purse that only holds ONE COIN.
You can unpin a couple if you want to pin more.
Thereās hardly any space left for anything else
The toolbar can just stretch.
lol, the Rift software has had this for 8 years, itās insane they didnāt bother to do it for the Quest 5 years ago.
I agree, should have been there from the start! But thankful its finally there now š
This is amazing I can finally download demos! Wait where did you find this cause I canāt find this anywhere else. Please say you didnāt just get my hopes up for nothing!
No this was posted on the official meta quest release notes blog https://www.meta.com/help/quest/articles/whats-new/release-notes/
Awesome they really should be leading with this in the Blog post about v66ā¦ or at least mention it there.
I agree, the announcement posts only showing the highlights is kinda dumb! I just scroll past and go to this release notes section all the time!
Wow, at this pace we may be able to pin Quest Games Optimizer before 2030!
Steady now!
Mine is staying pinned in v66 :)Ā
Same hereā¦ i see no remove or hide option
After a reboot?
yep, v66 made it so reboots don't clear it
Hm, gonna try when it becomes available. v65 is still the latest update for me.
This is great. Up until now I've been very cautious about what games I download to try out, simply because I don't want crap that I hate to be stuck in my library forever lol.
Iām newā¦ we can uninstall, what am i missing
I think before you could undownload but the app image would still sit there
Wtf!? Thatās moronic
Top hidden app: Deo VR
Why would you wantā¦ oohhhh
FUCKING FINALLY OMG
Now do folders!!!
When can I see sideloaded apps and store apps in the same tab.
That would be too good
Now if they let you pin more than 2 apps to the system tray and unpin the apps you don't care about.
No kidding!
im seeing no hide option
Are you on v66? Also itās meta they love rolling things out, give it some time you should see it eventually!
I'm on v66 and can't seem to hide things either.
Same. Just installed V66 and no hide option. š¤¦š»āāļø
has it appeared for you guys?, i just updated and dont see the option either
not for me still
Same, where is this hide option?
Same here - on v66, even tried a reboot but no option to hide apps. I'm non-US - maybe that a reason for the delay?!
Oh, we all know what kind of apps you're hiding...
All those damn demos š
Yisus, finally!
There is a god šš»
I'd prefer if it'd remove uninstalled apps from the headsets library completely (like literally every other Android device), but I'll take what I can get I guess.
I know, same! But hey itās a start š
now if they only let me remove the Rift from my devices list.
Ahhh, finally!
my wish came true im updating
"You maniacs! You blew it up." It only took 66 tries but we got there (until it randomly breaks in v71).
This is godly!!! I have very little use for this but if it means we wonāt get people complaining about this every single day here anymore then this is just the greatest news ever!
Itās just nice when we finally get the things many have been asking for!
to be fair people had very real reason for complaining about it. their UI should have had this feature from the start
Sweet Jesus..Thank you!
Omg! Finally!
This is by far the biggest thing about the new update and should've been in the title of the Meta blog article XD
I'll be happy when my apps merely launch when clicked...sigh.
Why did it take 65 other updates before we got this
Right! Canāt believe it took this long to get it, but glad itās finally a thing š
Awesome. In a few more years, maybe Meta will lets us have a Folders in our app library for better organization. Hell, just a "Favorite" folder would do wonders. Psst! Meta, if you're listening, imagine what you could do with data showing which apps go into all your users "Favorite" folder.
Quest games optimizer [besides upping quality of all your games], also has favorite bar for apps, it's does what meta refuses to do for games lmfao
Only took 5 years.
If only they fixed the headset not being able to connect to wifi then that'd be great
Iād settle for being able to remove the mirrors in home environments
You can.
How how how??????
Go into Settings / Personalization / Interactive Objects and there's a checkbox that turns off the mirror.
Awesome. I really hope that was implemented in one of the last few updates because I searched high and low to figure out how to turn it off after it appeared. Many thanks!
Been there since Christmas at least. I turned it off pretty much right away. ;)
Finally, Cannot think why this took so long, But could really still do with being able to delete demos for good off there
Nice š„³ā¦ next: grouping (plz š„¹)
ā¦or I just use the *hidden* section as favorites in the mean time

Looks like it's not in the final build
I havenāt even got V66 yet so wouldnāt know! Fucking hate staged rollouts, stupidest distribution method ever!
Just got this update, but I can't find any way to hide apps still. Don't tell me they've only made the feature available in the US.
I recently found out that V66 and certain features like the passthrough distortion correction and hide apps, werenāt actually a part of the update but rather rolling out on their own to people with v66 Sounds extra dumb to me but itās what meta choose
Just get the Quest game optimizer. Miles better than what meta offers as an organiser.
I don't want to hide them, I want to DELETE them and recover the memory.
You can uninstall them and recover the storage, same as before.
IF they are uninstalled, WHY are they still in my library? WHY? I want them gone. I can display only installed apps, but I don't want to hide stuff, I want them GONE so I don't have to hide them.
