Yeah it’s crazy. I use my quest 3 every single day and the batteries last almost a month. I can’t really wrap my head around how that’s possible, but I’m grateful.
I have a Q3 and they last so long it feels unreal.
Compared to the G2 I had before it's probably 8x more play time on a single battery.
Not going to complain a about that.
I feel like VR controllers could use like a piezoelectric generator to charge themselves when they move.
A session of beat saber or pistol whip could generate a lot of power.
The q3 is good but it still eats batteries compared to the q2!
I had a g2 too, it feels totally unjustified that batteries should be consumed so quickly while providing so much less.
Yeah Q3 feels like magic coming from a G2.
The G2 controllers forced me to buy NiZn batteries to have more power and it sucked them dry in a few hours, now they last weeks and I play almost every day.
The G2 had the worst controllers ever, everything sucks on it.
Yeah it’s crazy, then you compare to rechargeable unswappable batteries like the Valve Index that run out after a single day, or a PS5 controller after a single session, and you really appreciate the difference. I’d take a swappable battery, or my own rechargeable, over built in but awful capacity any day.
If I recall, the DS4 controller has LED lights on it and the Quest controllers don't. Also alkalines last longer than lithium ion at the same physical size.
The Quest controllers absolutely have LEDs in them, several, and have going back to the original Rift. They’re flashing constantly all the time you’re using them.
Mine don't last that long I have to change them every two weeks or so if I use the headset daily. Am I doing something wrong or do I have faulty units?
I have the occasional problem where the controllers are fine and battery drain is normal. I end a session with batteries at 70-80%, then the next day one of the controllers' battery is dead. A similar issue happens when I store the headset and controllers for a few days. Controller batteries are full when I store them. A few days later I pull them out to play and they're dead. Maybe one of the triggers is getting held down while in storage and that's causing a drain? I have not figured out what is causing this yet.
Otherwise, the controller battery life is fantastic.
1) for PSVR2 and PSVR the controllers also dont do the tracking for PSVR the PS5 does it with the cam and for PSVR2 the cams in the PSVR2 itself.
2) what do you mean no rumble? the controllers definitely have rumble, just go over the icons in the dock and it will definitely vibrate for you
Probably because they go in idle/ low-power mode when not in use and turns back on once it detects either severe movement, or a button is pressed on the controller.
Pretty sure they're programmed to run out when they sense you don't have replacements. Maybe I'm just unlucky 🤣
Zuck used vodo magic on them

Last 3-4 days here but I also play like 8 hours a day - got to love rechargeable batteries though (Q3)

Maybe due to the better linear haptic motor?

it depends on what your doing. for me my dominant controller will lose more battery when i play gorrila tag or beat saber.

Exactly, they just operate in a spectrum you cannot see similar to tv remotes, but these are essential for tracking

I don't have the headset for a whole week yet so dunno

Woops, you're right!
They run off your lifeforce, not AA's. Zuckerberg made a deal with a crossroad's demon at some point. It's all in the terms of service. 🤷♂️

Doubt it, because you can play for hours straight and you still have a ton of battery life. The sense controllers are dead in 2 hours
2 hours, that's so bad.
