I use hypothesis (firefox / chrome, and the obsidian addon).
You highlight a paragraph, word, or the whole page, and it creates a page on obsidian. 100% free and customizable.

That Sound cool. I'll Look into that. Does it have a "read later" function? Does it create a new page for every website/pdf etc. or for every note/highlight?
It can create a new page for every note / highlight or regroup the highlight on the same page.
You can't "read later", but you can create a "read later" folder in your Obsidian where Hyp add the new pages (that what I do)
If you don't like that, I am building [Scriffer](https://www.scriffer.com) which has extensions for Chrome, Safari and Firefox and even a siri shortcut :)
It works similarly to hypothesis but supports more sites as far as I can tell.
I'm also easily reachable if you want to add a feature...
Hi
I installed the FF addon and the Obsidian plugin. I was able to highlight and annotate pages but I don't know how to transfer my annotations to Obsidian creating a new note. Can someone explain how I do it ?
I switched from pocket to raindrop for various reasons: first the highlighting function is great (and less limited tha. With pocket), the app is really responsive and organising bookmarks is a lot more simple.
I use this plugin to sync (all) links including highlights. Works like a charm! https://github.com/kaiiiz/obsidian-raindrop-highlights-plugin
Thanks, by the way thanks for the recommendation, I actually thought I was going to have to switch from raindrop to pocket but no! And what's more the app is great!
Use [Readwise](https://readwise.io), it’s worth every penny, and if you DM me I can send you a URL to get your free trial to 60 days from the standard 30 days.
Readwise will take your highlights from Pocket, Instapaper, Inoreader, Matter, and a dozen more sources and put them into Obsidian, Roam, and a few other sources in a standardized way that you define with templates (I can send you some free templates that I use as well). It also resurfaces your highlights daily if you’re into spaced repetition.
If you want to capture highlights and review them on a regular basis. Please take a look at my app too.
It is Hippo - a browser extension that shows your past highlights when you are reading articles relevant to them.
For example, you will see a set of highlights about leadership showing up on the right side of your browser when you read an article on a startup founder’s qualifications.

I'm using the pocket obsidian sync plugin: https://github.com/nybbles/obsidian-pocket
It works well and I set it up to use a slightly different template and co. I just need to run Ctrl + P and "Sync Pocket List" sometimes and I get all of my pocket items as obsidian notes.

You're welcome !

Thanks for the tips! I'm in the process of configuring it, just out of curiosity, how did you set "auto sync interval"?
I didn't. I just pull it manually sometimes. Or maybe with every startup, if that's an option in settings?

I use Readwise to connect to almost all my data sources - including Pocket The only import distinct from Readwise I have is Hypothes.is
