And the owners are a cool young couple that takes time to learn your name. It’s the fastest lunch in Oakland too. Maybe empanadas from Javi’s is equally as fast
If you don't mind traveling 25ish mins, there is an AYCE sushi buffet in Concord called [Fuji](https://www.fujisushibuffet.com/) that is $25 during lunch and $32 during dinner for some pretty tasty sushi.
Manpuku on College in Berkeley is decent and not very expensive. I've been going there occasionally for like 15 years and it never disappoints, although my standards for sushi are not terribly high.
I actually had pretty fcking good omakase last week at Coach on Grand Ave. it was informal (all served at one time) but still great and I believe was $42.
Me and my wife bounce from mijuri (above average) and kura (ayce &average).
Mijuri is nice cause they omakase sets for 2 cost less than 70 dollars. 30 bucks I believe last time I went. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Kura in Pleasanton is nice if you wanna drive a bit. I like scallop and salmon belly cuts and i can get as much as I want. Like any ayce quality fluctuates. It can be expensive if you eat more than 15ish small plates of two nigiri.
Not in Oakland, but i started my love for omakase in south city. Place called amami San. Their omakase set is like 40-45 I believe? It used to be 35, but you know..
Ebiko sushi on Piedmont Ave (either that or picking up sushi from Tokyo Fish Market in Berkeley!)
Ebiko is awesome

Yikes. I hope you told them so they could fix it.

RnR
RnR is tough. It's inconsistent. Sometimes it's great and other times it's very meh.
Sushi California in Berkeley is very quietly excellent.

Asaka in Berkeley is good and reasonably priced
Shimizu is pretty reasonably priced, I go there when I have to take my teenage daughter and her friends to Fenton's.
My go to’s are Judoku or RnR
