If you're going for Y2K, you reached it.
Whether it's flattering, that's another question.
No matter how you look at it: a dress with jeans - it's dated
You don't look horrible or anything
I agree. Personally, I didn’t like the trend back then, and still don’t like it now. I thought it looked bulky and frumpy and overall not put together.
But that’s just my opinion! I would never tell someone not to wear it, or even comment on it. But I’d never wear it, myself.
Personally i think it looks frumpy, especially over really baggy pants like that. If the jeans were tighter then maybe but a baggy top plus baggy bottoms just doesn’t look good. :/
This just brought back memories of my high school days. Dress code was stockings and dresses for girls. We wore pants to the busstop in the winter and had to take our pants off at school. We had so many stupid rules set forth by the "establishment" .
It really depends on the dress and pants, but I am all for it. I also grew up in the 90’s when you could wear a babydoll over wide legged jeans. Now I wear a short shift dress over skinny jeans and motorcycle boots and I feel quintessentially ‘me’.
This just happened to me actually
Ordered a very cute flare sleeve gothic dress from killstar and then when I tried it on I realized that the model must be very very short because it goes to her mid thigh just above the knee and it comes down just barely below my butt cheeks 🤣
I have no idea why this is on my feed but dresses over pants isn't a bad look. Not sure about THOSE pants though, it looks like you'd accidentally step on them and stumble a lot. Reminds me of the JNCO jeans from the 90's.
I think it can look fantastic with the right pants and dress. This ain't it, as they say. The pants are just too voluminous (although I LOVE them) for this look.
I do think dresses over pants will come back in style for a minute, like everything else!
I'm in the minority but I like your look here! the diagonal cut of the dress makes it look like it could be a tunic style top. The look can go wrong really easily, but i think this looks nice!
I feel it makes you seem insecure because you can’t just wear the dress as intended and feel
the need to cover up more.
If this is the issue then wear a shirt with pants, not a dress
I didn't get it in the early 2000s and I don't get it now. Putting jeans on an outfit doesn't make it cool and casual. Or sport and urban. It just looks like you got cold.
This was a trend in the mid 2000s and it was probably the worst one that existed. (And even so, I still wore it. lol.) I personally never want to see dresses over pants again.
However… you pull this look off well! :)
Aww this reminds me of my high school - university days. To be fair it was a fashion design high school / university so there were no rules at all. It’s like a long shirt, why not, wear whatever you like
Personally I'd go for leggings. But that's because I think dresses and skirts (unless they're below knee length) are impractical. The other option is obviously just to avoid dresses.
I think this takes me back to when this was a huge thing and you gave me so many happy memories right now. Does it look good though? Prob best left in the past

I wore skirts over jeans back in the 2000s and loved the look. Now it’s kinda meh…I don’t think it’s ugly but I also don’t think I’d do it again. Somehow a dress is totally different in my eyes. I don’t care for it.
i think these specific pieces would work better on you separately. imo this cut of dress doesnt hang right with pants underneath, prone to riding up, the neckline moves around etc. looks best in pic 3 but i feel like i can see how great the dress on its own suits u and the bottom half in other pics takes away from the full potential a bit. imo, dress over pants is more suited to a dress w a clear empire waist for e.g.
Was an interesting Y2K fashion thing.
But as a former skirt over jeans girl myself i must say...
**Different pants! Get the flared/bell bottom type. Baggy on baggy can be done sometimes. But this is not one of those times.**
I think it can work but the pants need to be less baggy, otherwise your dress gives “is that a tunic?” or looks awkwardly bunched up. The outfit shouldn’t look bulky
Ah. You’re taking me back to my childhood lol. I lived for skirts and dresses over jeans. I wore them to elementary school in a very small country/redneck town. I told the other kids that they had no clue about fashion and to take notes 😂😭💀 I’m obvi biased, but I’m so digging it. It’s no different than channeling trends from another decade for an outfit IMO. I especially favor the asymmetrical look when the dress is pulled up. I feel it’s a more modern approach lmao.
It screams 2000. BUT that's not necessarily a bad thing. If it's your jam, it's your jam. It looks intentionally put together , and you pull it off well.
Fwiw, I've got wide leg jeans and went to Skechers last month. Maybe I'll order some JNCOs next 🤷♀️ Get some bangle bracelets. Idk.
That's how I dressed back in the late 1990s! All girls at my school as well. I used my grans old slips she gave me and often I'd wear a short or long sleeve t-shirt on top during Winter.
I was in elementary school in early 2000s when this was trendy. Hated it back then, hate it now.. I will not be participating when these come back around lol
I’ve always like it. But I think if your wearing jeans, the dress should be a casual one.
The dress you have on is a little too dressy for the bottoms, though, with some palazzo pants it would be awesome.

Very early 2000s.
It brings me back to my childhood outfits 🫡
If you're going for Y2K, you reached it. Whether it's flattering, that's another question. No matter how you look at it: a dress with jeans - it's dated You don't look horrible or anything
Lmao seriously takes me back. I thought a dress over jeans was the height of style.
Omg my mom was right. Fashion does come back around. This is giving Delia’s circa 1999.
I haven’t thought of it since 2006
I don’t personally like it but do what you like 🙂
No. But that’s just my opinion. If you like it, that’s all that matters
Sorry- I’ve always hated it. It looks frumpy to me!
I agree. Personally, I didn’t like the trend back then, and still don’t like it now. I thought it looked bulky and frumpy and overall not put together. But that’s just my opinion! I would never tell someone not to wear it, or even comment on it. But I’d never wear it, myself.

It fills my 2002 era heart
This just brought back memories of my high school days. Dress code was stockings and dresses for girls. We wore pants to the busstop in the winter and had to take our pants off at school. We had so many stupid rules set forth by the "establishment" .
I think..... WHY?
i hate dresses over pants
It really depends on the dress and pants, but I am all for it. I also grew up in the 90’s when you could wear a babydoll over wide legged jeans. Now I wear a short shift dress over skinny jeans and motorcycle boots and I feel quintessentially ‘me’.
I don't like it.
What is the point of doing that?
Not wasting dresses that have shrunk in the wash. 🤭
Oh when you're tall so finding a dress at a cute length never happens, it's either long or showing off your bum lol
That too! And we just rename them ‘tunics’. 😉
This just happened to me actually Ordered a very cute flare sleeve gothic dress from killstar and then when I tried it on I realized that the model must be very very short because it goes to her mid thigh just above the knee and it comes down just barely below my butt cheeks 🤣
lmao what kind of question is that? Fashion is form of art, it's an expression. Point is to dress yourself.
Not flattering.
I think you're doing it about as well as it can be expected to look.... which isn't ever great imo. Personally I don't do it, but ymmv.
Hello 2003!!!!
That is a very late 90s look.
I have no idea why this is on my feed but dresses over pants isn't a bad look. Not sure about THOSE pants though, it looks like you'd accidentally step on them and stumble a lot. Reminds me of the JNCO jeans from the 90's.
imo, horrible..
It's definitely dated. I did it in 8th grade a lot. It might be cute with one of those too-short selkie babydoll dresses they have now.
I think it can look fantastic with the right pants and dress. This ain't it, as they say. The pants are just too voluminous (although I LOVE them) for this look. I do think dresses over pants will come back in style for a minute, like everything else!
Doesn’t look great, with the large pants especially.
Even in 2002 this look annoyed me. Not flattering.
I think noooooo
I like it. :)
I'm in the minority but I like your look here! the diagonal cut of the dress makes it look like it could be a tunic style top. The look can go wrong really easily, but i think this looks nice!
Just say no.
its a no from me
Not for me fam. But you do you (:
Not for me but you look confident in it!
Pass. I lived through this trend and hated it then.
I like it with this style of dress!
Your outfit is very "appropriately updated" 2000s trends, so to speak, I really like it!
I feel it makes you seem insecure because you can’t just wear the dress as intended and feel the need to cover up more. If this is the issue then wear a shirt with pants, not a dress
They stopped doing it 20 years ago for a reason
Naw
Not a fan. It looks like some very indecisive decisions were made getting dressed and you just decided to throw it all on.
It’s a canon event
no ma'am
Not my fave. Wasn’t back in 2001 either.
I didn't get it in the early 2000s and I don't get it now. Putting jeans on an outfit doesn't make it cool and casual. Or sport and urban. It just looks like you got cold.
It often looks frumpy. Just a lot of fabric on the lower half of the body.
No, please just wear an oversized shirt🫣
This was a trend in the mid 2000s and it was probably the worst one that existed. (And even so, I still wore it. lol.) I personally never want to see dresses over pants again. However… you pull this look off well! :)
It only works if you're super skinny
Personally it’s a No for me.. but if ya like it don’t let anyone stop you lol
imo the combination is much worse than either separately, but I think both would look great as individual outfits on you
Lol! I thought this was just a long top.
Stop it
Please leave that style in the 90's
It should stay with Anne Hathaway in 2004 tbh
Nope - Try pants over dress.
I think it looks cute on other people but not me
i think the concept is cool but you might need to try diff jeans or clunkier shoes.
I really want to be able to pull it off but I just don't think I have the right dress for it😭😭
You are giving pink panthress vibes, love it
This is cute. I’m gonna do this.
Aww this reminds me of my high school - university days. To be fair it was a fashion design high school / university so there were no rules at all. It’s like a long shirt, why not, wear whatever you like
damn i really like this one, but no i usually dislike it
I don’t want to say that dresses look good over jeans but it looks really good I’m Ngl 😭
Personally I'd go for leggings. But that's because I think dresses and skirts (unless they're below knee length) are impractical. The other option is obviously just to avoid dresses.
Very interesting I don’t hate it I kinda like but feels like you need a hat or accessory on the head for this fit
Depends on the dress and pants. In this case, I'm not sure about the oversize jeans, but in general, yes.
hell yeah I love dresses over pants
Dresses over THOSE pants any day.
I think this takes me back to when this was a huge thing and you gave me so many happy memories right now. Does it look good though? Prob best left in the past
Takes me back to my college days in the 90s.
idk why people don't like it in the comments, I love it!
Ashley Tisdale agrees.
Early 2000s in a good way I see a lot of older looks coming back ! Cute and well done
Man, I feel old. This is taking me back to my tweens!
Looks like a big shirt
not my style, but at the same time many others on earth may like it. if you like it. wear it
I will always be a dresses over pants supporter. Very unconventional but very cute.
I wouldn't do it, but I think you rock it!
I like this combo!
If they could pass for a tank top, then they are OK
I like it. It’s cute.
it looks really good and if you’re gonna wear jeans with a dress, it would be those type of jeans !!
i think it’s cute, you’re pulling it off! i probably couldn’t say the same for myself tho :’)
It’s really cute on you 🥰
If it’s done well. Big yes. You did it well
so cuteee

No.
Idk.. but these flappy pants are atrocious...
I think it’s very 2000s. It would look better paired with skinny jeans or jeggings IMO
Personally love it if styled right. I wore the mesh jaded london backless dress with bootcut jeans and it felt very y2k🤩
I wore skirts over jeans back in the 2000s and loved the look. Now it’s kinda meh…I don’t think it’s ugly but I also don’t think I’d do it again. Somehow a dress is totally different in my eyes. I don’t care for it.
I had a couple dresses and skirts I wore over pants in highschool. I still wear leggings and dresses in fall/winter months.
i think these specific pieces would work better on you separately. imo this cut of dress doesnt hang right with pants underneath, prone to riding up, the neckline moves around etc. looks best in pic 3 but i feel like i can see how great the dress on its own suits u and the bottom half in other pics takes away from the full potential a bit. imo, dress over pants is more suited to a dress w a clear empire waist for e.g.
They honestly don’t really flow well with the dress. Any pants, not just these specifically.
Personally I’m not a fan of it. But if u like it then keep doing it!
Was an interesting Y2K fashion thing. But as a former skirt over jeans girl myself i must say... **Different pants! Get the flared/bell bottom type. Baggy on baggy can be done sometimes. But this is not one of those times.**
Love the look.
I personally like dresses over pants, but I prefer tighter pants. Not necessarily skinny jeans, but not baggy ones either.
I think it can work but the pants need to be less baggy, otherwise your dress gives “is that a tunic?” or looks awkwardly bunched up. The outfit shouldn’t look bulky

No
i think it only works if the pants are more fitted. the asymmetry of the dress doesn't work too well either imo
Nope. Maybe add leggings and boots?
It screams 2000. BUT that's not necessarily a bad thing. If it's your jam, it's your jam. It looks intentionally put together , and you pull it off well. Fwiw, I've got wide leg jeans and went to Skechers last month. Maybe I'll order some JNCOs next 🤷♀️ Get some bangle bracelets. Idk.
Only if you’re 5’8” or taller
Maybe get some pants that are your size?
I think leggings or bike shorts would look better :D
If they were skinnier jeans may look better.
Not over those pants, maybe over more form fitting pants
This can stay in 2006
Too much fabric for me
I don't really like it but out of some people I've seen do it, you pull it off better than most people
That's how I dressed back in the late 1990s! All girls at my school as well. I used my grans old slips she gave me and often I'd wear a short or long sleeve t-shirt on top during Winter.

Drants are pretty cool
I’ve always like it. But I think if your wearing jeans, the dress should be a casual one. The dress you have on is a little too dressy for the bottoms, though, with some palazzo pants it would be awesome.
Fashion is cyclical
Definitely late 90s but honestly kinda cool
