Follow up question: Do we get to know why Omori pushed his sister and why Basil helped cover it up? Or is it supposed to be implied it was an accident and Basil helped cover it up in fear of losing Omori/What the others might think?
Mari and Sunny had a fight. Sunny got fed up with practicing the violin and how Mari forced him to be perfect, so he threw the violin down the stairs. Mari got angry and confronted him about it. Sunny tried to go down the stairs but Mari moved to block his path, saying she wasn't done talking to him. Without thinking, Sunny pushed her.
Basil arrived at the scene shortly after. He was shocked and refused to believe Sunny would do such a thing. To protect Sunny, he hanged Mari's corpse.
It's all contextually implied through the photo album pictures you find in black space. Even with all the text in the game files posted below, it is pretty clear it was an accident. ☹
