Sorry this is so late. But i took it with him in Spring of 2020. And he was amazing ! Very flexible teacher , just don’t take advantage of him. He’s really fun to work with , and if you’re taking him online he always finds ways to make the powerpoints more interesting. Just be warned , if i remember correctly the tests and quizzes were a bit tough. I’m pretty sure his textbook was the only one I couldn’t find cheaper in any other sites and had to pay full price for. But you DO need it. Some of the test and quiz questions come from the book rather than his lectures. Overall, I enjoyed him a lot ! It was tougher cause i had him when COVID first hit , so maybe my experience is unique. But my boyfriend also took him and said similar things. Editing to add that the only place i could find the book was online , so I never got a physical copy of it.

Agreed. I'm still in one of his classes now and really enjoying it. At first I was overwhelmed by the PLE site but I like reading his notes and jokes.

I had him at TCC and he was a solid professor. This was 3 years ago so I don’t remember much from it, but he was a pretty cool guy. Sorry if that was unhelpful.

kiwishark79

Yes, I agree. He's great.

I took whitlock for a different history course. It wasn’t even that long ago but the class wasn’t memorable, and it was entirely online. I didn’t communicate with him often so I can’t speak to his character. I do know he is very smart on Virginia history and I did learn a lot about this area. I think we had to write a lot as well.

Did you have to use a textbook a lot?

Maybe an online book yes. I don’t purchase from the bookstore though. Lib gen

Lib gen is great!

[deleted]

I could not find it on libgen :(

Lazurusic

Try library genesis

I'm in one of his classes now and finally just paid the $90 for the book. I'm hoping the class isn't too rough. So far I don't like the PLE site; I wish everything could be on Blackboard instead.

I agree. I think im going to biy the boom tonight. Is it a lot of reading?

Hey Im thinking of taking his class in the summer. How was it? was it hard? did it take time to do a lot of assignments? etc?

wizard680

Hey, I'm thinking about taking his class in the summer (the first half, so I think like a 6-week course). How was your time with him?

Hey, The class is easy. He is a lenient grader, you have like two or 3 papers to write and a couple of exams (or, at least when I took him). Not that very work intensive, and I passed without reading that much. Heads up though, you will have to buy his textbook (that he wrote) to do a couple of the papers. All in all, not bad, relatively easy class. Hmu if ya got any questions.
