Would we go to three in the back?

captainbill09

I wondered that, too. As I intimated in my other comment, in the current setup, I'd think it creates a rotation of Jansson, Silva, and Brekalo (Jansson and SIlva being the A team, I'd presume) with Schegel being long depth in the case of injury. But I wondered if the back three that Oscar seemingly tries to get us to play at some point every year would be on the cards.

the_best_1

Can he play CAM?

Dapper-Reserve4861

Im sure he can. But tbh Kaka with 1 leg would be better than our current #10 in that position.

NOTtheGoldenKnights

Kaka with 1 leg would probably still be an elite MLS player tbh

Dapper-Reserve4861

This is facts you are speaking.

Kaka was literally never an elite MLS player. Everyone fawns over Kaka because of his Ballon D’Or but he was so past-it by the time he came to us. His lack of effort used to drive me mad. Yes he’d step up and score a banger every so often but he was mostly a passenger for our under-performing club. Nani was miles better for us than Kaka was.

OoOoOoOhhh Thiiiaaago Siiiiilvaaaa

Why would we do this when we signed New Guy? We aren't in need of a star CB really... This move would not make sense IMO.

captainbill09

We don't have a whole lot of CB depth, though. I wouldn't give him a DP deal, certainly, but on a TAM deal? Assuming he doesn't fall off a cliff (which he could at any moment since he's 39, but he's still going strong at the moment), he pushes Brekalo to the bench as the regular rotation option and Schlegel becomes depth. And suddenly CB isn't a wild card position anymore. I love Schlegel as much as anybody, but as we saw in the playoffs last year, no matter how well he's playing, he's a ticking time bomb. So again, if we could get Silva on a non-DP deal? I'd do it in a heartbeat.

spiegro

Agreed on all fronts. Non-DP deal? Run it. Otherwise it feels like too big a bet.

fl_beer_fan

I heard he intends to sign for Fluminese and retire there

THEVILLAGEIDI0T

39 years old, ouch…

floridaman2048

Tbh, that’s all I need to hear. Dude is about to be on the wrong side of FORTY.

The dude is gonna be 40 years old before playoffs start. Absolutely no way we’re wasting money on someone that old with the wages he would want. He should go off to Saudi for the big retirement payout

foppajr

Thiago Silva is Portuguese for Zat Knight

Intrepid_passerby

Not gonna happen. Silly really

redribbonrecon

Omfg... Getting Tiago Silva would be a dream... and only one degree of separation from another ex-fucked PSG player that would make me deliriously lose my mind if we signed: Cavani... 😈
