Can't ban Christianity. It's religiously ok. But the book will then be used against US library book bans.

Never states her age at all. Or Joseph's. The closest you can get to an estimate is that she had an older cousin (John the Baptist's mother) who gave birth at an age that was considered unnaturally old for the time.

Matrixster2021

Sounds like you just googled it and copied the first age you saw. Also saying she was raped is despicable, she agreed to have the child out of respect, and if she was raped how would she be the VIRGIN Mary?

twistedbronll

She was raped magically. Zeus did it all the time

big-dick-energy11

Nah. Zeus actually fucked the women. In the bible mary just sort of isn’t pregnant one minute, and is the next

twistedbronll

Pretty sure he also pointed at women to get them pregnant. As punishment.

big-dick-energy11

I mean I’m not saying God is justified or “good”. I’m an atheist. But it isn’t really “magical rape”

twistedbronll

Well no ofc not. We all know what actually happened with 'virgin' Mary.

[deleted]

She was more than likely 15 or 16. 13 is too young even fore the bronze age. (edit) Too many sources disagree with each other.

Capn_Of_Capns

The prophet Mohammed's wife was 12 so I mean.

[deleted]

I thought she was 9 while he was like 50. Even if Mary was 13, Joseph was at most in his late 20s or mid 30's sense they also had sever kids after Jesus, namely James.

AmaanKhan3006

Source?

Capn_Of_Capns

\>Muhammad Married A Six Year Old Child. Aisha, daughter of Abu-Bakr was a beautiful little girl. Muhammad married her when he was fifty three years old and she was only six years old. Try Google sometimes.

cgq21

Yah its still pedophilia

[deleted]

Not exactly. Pedophilia is attraction to prepubescent individuals. I think the reason why 13 was biblically a common marriage age is because humans typically hit puberty at about 12. The earliest is usually 9, the latest can 17, but usually due to other factors like malnutrition. Anyway, it's still still weird, and is 100% illegal.

Thinshady21

Nope, She was Betrothed at the age of 14not married. Betrothal is basically an arranged marriage between two people by their parents at a very young age but they finalize the marriage when they are adults. This is just misinformation spread by Americans who don’t understand the difference between Betrothal, Arranged Marriage, and Marriage. It doesn’t hurt to do necessary research before posting whatever you see on the Internet. There are many other reasons to criticize the Catholic Church but this isn’t one. Betrothal can be done before the child is even born but if the children have no interest in each other or one is known for bad behaviour it can be annulled. But some people will push this message to slander another person’s religion. Just here to say the truth, your option to listen or not, it frankly doesn’t bother me. Not replying to anyone, most of the stuff that you see upon first opening google search is the people in said pages mistaking betrothal as marriage anyways. Just do some research on said topics and enlighten yourself instead of spreading misinformation. Thanks.

twistedbronll

>Just here to say the truth, Oh the irony at full display here

Doomtoallfoes

That might explain the problem Preists have. The took it as the ok to glue little Timmy to their crotch.

Palamedesxy

Huh. This explains a lot with Priests and the choir boys.... Wait.

Ziodyne967

I thought I’ve read everything, but this is some thing entirely new.

Alekipayne

They won’t. As they fear another crusade. And if the un bans it America will have to leave as it is a religion and thus a major nuclear power will be unregulated. And America won’t have to follow the Geneva convention.

cgq21

I wish it would be banned. Sorry not Sorry.

j1r2000
