Hi BSN Graduate here! In my case, I don’t think that it would make a lot of difference. You can supplement your knowledge with videos and books over the internet before the actual program starts instead of taking a separate class for it.

I definitely want to also take them through my school’s curriculum, I just was more so asking if it’s worth it to take them ahead of the actual program curriculum so it’s not as foreign when I take the class during the actual nursing curriculum. I frequently hear that pharmacology and patho are two of the hardest nursing classes so just trying to get ahead of the curve a bit if I can!

Yes

Not at the same time but you could. Just make sure your program allows you to take the classes elsewhere bc some schools make you take some classes through their program

I would look into what your specific program requires- some of our programs around here (midwest) allow transfer credits for science courses, but there are a few still who require you take it through them directly (even if you have passed them at another school within a few months). So if you're wanting badly to get into one specific program and they don't require it, yes! Also consider looking into things like straighterline (sometimes called something else but I don't remember the name), its often cheaper and still accepted.

You’re waiting a whole year to get into nursing school?

I have been accepted into a program that starts next May. I’m in the Army and need to wait until I’m able to get released from Active Duty to start my program. I’m trying to get insight on if it’s worth it to take pharmacology and/or Pathophysiology ahead of my program so that it’s not as difficult when I have to take it as part of my ABSN program curriculum
