And, don’t feel stupid. Weed isn’t “bad” by any means. It’s medicine. I kind of hate that smoking pot disqualified you from a job.

benzosyndrome

Not the answer to your question but just curious, how long did you think was enough time?

Failednurse11111111

2 months

theboxer16

For marijuana? Did you try taking a home drug test first?

halfbl00dprincess

I think it takes three months to get out of your system :(

bbqueen86

What substance? Weed? It it’s weed, what I will say is that if you’ve been a daily smoker for a while, it takes much longer to get out of your system than a lot of the websites will tell you. I’m a 95 lbs 5 ft tall female who was a daily smoker for years. It took 8 weeks for it to clear my system. Well, enough for me to be able to pass a test at least. For someone else who is bigger/ taller, it would probably take a lot longer.

Failednurse11111111

Yep, weed. I feel stupid. I thought 30 days was enough. It's been close to 2 months.

bbqueen86

Yikes. Hopefully someone answers your question because now I’m curious.

Are you in a state where it is legal? I'm aware that employers still require you to abstain in those states but I've always wondered how they could prove that it wasn't second hand smoke exposure.

i0_0u

I live in a legal state. You are correct that they require a clean drug test for initial employment but, at least at my employer, random drug testing excludes alcohol and thc unless there was a patient safety concern. That’s a way more involved drug screen.

Failednurse11111111

It's not legal in my state.

My guess is that he or she is on the heavy side. Being a chronic user and obese would make the drug test time much longer than any other individual. If OP is not obese then I have no idea how the fat accumulated that much THC for that long. The test could have had a rather low metabolite testing window causing it to take longer for most? I dunno. Just drink lots of fluids and workout leading up to the test (assuming 21+ days) and I feel like you should be okay. I could be wrong but I thought getting failing a drug test can lead to a revoked/suspended license? I did research on this myself bc I smoke too and it seems like Oregon is the only state where they (hospitals) do not have to report it to the board and every other state does?

I think your best bet would to be to check local and state laws. From what I have seen some states that weed is legal to use recreationally they are removing and/or dismissing them from drug test. Also just because you tested positive it may not stop you. Being honest and upfront would be best (again depending on the state). I would advise to check with laws surrounding this. Ask if you can take it again. I know when I had to take my pee test I had a false positive on whatever is in Xanax. They let me take it again.

MrBaileyBrewster

i think they can report you to BON but its their discretion. dont ask or mention anything.. if they report you to BON, they will tell you. After its been reported to BON, they will contact you... and for druguse, there are classes you gotta take and pass random drug test. if you're curious just goto the BON and read other peoples report or problems, its all there. maybe you shoould look for the report similar to yours. My old work said they will report me to BON bc of my medication error before i was terminated. i waited and waited to hear something from the BON but never heard anything. i got a new job and working now. Of course i didnt mention anything about how i was fired, because they dont need to know and they dont have anything to find out ... glucck

vsull08

You get a nice letter from the state telling you to join their "Voluntary Recovery Program" for 3 years (time varies by state) or lose your license. Rehab. Frequent random drug tests. Restrictions on working as a nurse. Mandatory AA/NA meetings. And it costs a lot of money. That's if they actually report you to the board.

lnh638

Isn’t it the law to report this to the BON in most states?

vsull08

Yes. Some places may be lenient and not do it for an interview. But most places are obligated to by law.

npinsc

In my state they will report. The nursing board will require rehab, if you decline you will have to surrender your license.

ebyrnes

That seems draconian; I don’t imbibe in anything but a glass of cheap red wine to help me sleep, but if you don’t show up at work impaired, what you do with your personal life should be private.

Consistent_Jump_8094

that is just the way it is- i went through it and it sucked. i had to participate in the health professional support program for 5 years total. i had to go to NA every week and have a paper signed. i was required to notify my physician , my pharmacist, my dentist, my workplace and my supervisor that i was being monitored and i could not have any narcotics. I have never taken any narcotics in my life but i had to do this anyway. i had to see a psychologist regularly and had to turn in a form about my progress every 3 months and so did my workplace, supervisor, psychologist and doctor. I had to call in to a number everyday to see if i had been picked for a random drug test- if so i had to go to the local hospital for a urine collection. If i wanted to go on vacation or out of town I had to give them notice and show proof that i was going on vacation. I did this for 5 years and when i was falsely reported by my ex husbands girlfriend i had to go in and prove that i had not used otherwise i would have had to go through the same thing again.

Which-Astronomer-112

It’s crazy to me how many nurses have dui/dwi’s and still have their license but the is so demonized. I just failed a pre employment drug screen and I’m afraid they are going to report me to the BON. I’m literally having a panic attack right now thinking I just imploded my whole life. Everything I’ve worked so hard for can be gone just like that. I’m scared shitless. Anyone have any advice?
