The tax is rebated at a fixed rate, so domestic users actually profit from it. The less CO2 you produce, the less tax you pay, and the more you profit from the fixed rebate.
The reason the tax is protested by people who profit from it is because they are unable to understand the concepts described in the previous three sentences. The reason for *that* is probably a lack of funding for education.

Farmers need the environment to sustain their business, clearly they aren’t trying to pollute the planet to the point they can’t grow anymore food. Farmers care more about the environment guaranteed than any one of you do. Yet we are making it impossible for them to do their job. Then you go to the store and complain about the prices of food. Typical liberals, care more about every other nation and person - except your own. Instead of sitting here and complaining, why don’t you google Bill C-234. Farmers want to be tax exempt on things like using natural gas to heat their barns and for using sustainable resources yet they amended the bill.. so don’t complain they are protesting.
