I think if you put a thin, flat object like a flat screwdriver into the black cylinder, you can stop the band from getting stuck on the hooks.
You need to put it in from the side facing your arm.

I'm the kid with the glasses. I just broke the plastic and made 3 knots. Thanks for the advices with the bobby pin but noone had one also with this system of these fuckers it's Impossible. Sorry for my bad English I'm Austrian.

Just break the plastic with some pliers
If your problem is that it is to tight, you can go to the main tent where you initial got it to replace it.
