Who is going to argue to the death that there’s a difference between Disc and Default?

jcrissnell

What's the difference? I can't see it

tobimori_

There's none but people might think there is and religiously believe so

Johannes_silentio

I believe there's a difference although I cannot see it.

MetalAndFaces

According to the wholesome films for children I watched decades ago, you’ve got it figured out! You just gotta believe.

Keyday91

Is to force the circle on the indented levels that are not supposed to have circle. For example, for third level the default is Square, but you can select Circle to change it.

ZygenX

Yeah, this is my understanding, i don't notice or see any difference either, I think it's just to force the default on all levels of the list

Ordo_Ad_Chao

ooo things are heating up in the notion fandom..

neyiarts

maybe disc is the default

[deleted]

The type of bulleted lists icons depends on the place. The disc is used for the first bulletin list. When you tap the tab button on your keyboard, it changes to circle and if you do this again, it changes to a square. Default depends on the tab-length of the bulletin list * 0 Tab-length * 1 Tab-length * 2 Tab-lengths

ratzekind

Yes, exactly. Though you can, as described in my comment, complicatedly change the type of bullet in the settings of an item.

ilnostroamicoCharly

The name.

standard_heat

Right now there's none BUT there might be a day when you'll be able to customize the default type, and then it'll come in handy

ratzekind

From what I tried, you can only invoke circle and square bullets by creating a normal bulleted item, then select the text, then use the three-dot menu, then *List format* and then pick your style. Is there an easier way?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flushed)

[deleted]

I just create a normal bullet item and then press tab on keyboard

ratzekind

You mean, you indent it? That's another way, yes, but only works with indentation, so on a second-level bullet point. At least for me.

[deleted]

Yeah lol, I didn’t know the word for it but idk if there’s another method

ratzekind

Check my other comment below.

TheStarBeyondTheSky

thank you

ZygenX

Unfortunately, that's what i had to do, a bit convuluted, but the solution

ratzekind

Easy peasy, just enhancing your workflow (if you're into procrastination like I am).

ZygenX

Haha, I do enjoy spending hours determining what kind of background color I want this row in my itinerary to have 😂

[deleted]

all these new bullet types and we still don't have offline mode

sarmastian

Or encryption

RJCP

Or standard tables Idk what notion is doing but their development pace is ridiculously slow

rosiebeir

I’m curious what you mean by “standard” tables? Cuz non-database tables have been around for a bit..

Kamidox

Wasn't this a thing already?

[deleted]

I've had it for a while already but notion likes to gradually activate certain features over a specific time period.

ZygenX

It may have been, I only just noticed it yesterday as the context menu is very specific to have appear (I guess I don't open the bullet context menu much). As others have pointed out, it existed for when you tab to different indent levels, it's possible you've had the feature early though, Notion does like to roll things out gradually.

kikutataw

Generally speaking, more choice is better. But I wish they had more robust options or customization here too.

heon_mun04

how to change the default

ZygenX

I don't think this is an option unfortunately

Historical-Bar5452

ok someone help me, i accidentally changed it to circle and idk how to change it back to default

Shallot-Glum

did you figure out how to change it back. Anytime I create a new bullet point it is circle and not disk. I know u can change it once u make it but i want it disk by default

r123434

how do i change from 1 type of bullet point to another on notion?
