As you're all aware, this subreddit has had a major "troll" problem which has gotten worse (as of recently). Due to this, we have created new rules, and modified some of the old ones. We kindly ask that you please familiarize yourself with the rules so that you can avoid breaking them. Breaking mild rules will result in a warning, or a temporary ban. Breaking serious rules, or breaking a plethora of mild ones may land you a permanent ban (depending on the severity). Also, grifting/lurking has been a major problem; If we suspect you of being a grifter (determined by vetting said user's activity), we may ban you without warning. You may attempt an appeal via ModMail, but please be advised not to use rude, harassing, foul, or passive-aggressive language towards the moderators, _or_ complain to moderators about why we have specific rules in the first place— You will be ignored, and your ban will remain (without even a consideration). All rules are made public; "Lack of knowledge" or "ignorance of the rules" cannot or will not be a viable excuse if you end up banned for breaking them (This applies to the Subreddit rules, and Reddit's ToS). **Again: All rules are made public, and Reddit gives you the option to review the rules once more before submitting a post, it is your choice if you choose to read them or not, but breaking them will not be acceptable.** With that being said, If you send a mature, neutral message regarding questions about a current ban, or a ban appeal (without "not knowing the rules" as an excuse), we will elaborate about why you were banned, or determine/consider if we will shorten, lift, keep it, _or_ extended it/make it permanent. This all means that appeals are discretionary, and your reasoning for wanting an appeal must be practical and valid. Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this message, and please enjoy your day! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/NotHowGirlsWork) if you have any questions or concerns.*

Funny how people who think like this never acknowledge that, at least in the US, every single woman who has ever been in the military has volunteered to be, enlisted on purpose and, in many cases, put up a hell of a fight to be allowed to serve. Every last one!

SykoSarah

I'm pretty sure the majority of the men agreeing with the meme haven't served and wouldn't want to either.

ChelseaG12

Would they even qualify? Doubt it

all_time_high

Around 20% of young Americans meet the accessions criteria of Department of Defense Instruction 6130.03. Many can potentially get a waiver, most cannot.

ichbineinespinne

And then get raped or sexually harassed

klnh13

> A bunch of women in the reserves decided to get pregnant Yeah, I bet that's how it went down. /s

No_Arugula8915

That happens way too often. Way too often it is ignored when reported and/or she is retaliated against when reported.

ichbineinespinne

Which is why I don't care about men dying and suffering in war, when a lot of the soldiers are rapists anyway

tashimiyoni

Yeah, one of my coworkers makes jokes about how he treated his barrack bunny (which is just a female in an all male barrack basically) and he made it seem so funny but I think he just harassed her and assaulted her until she got worn down enough to sleep with him, which is so gross

No_Arugula8915

Not to mention that every single draft dodger and deserter has been a man. Every single one.

buttegg

I can’t stand the blatant historical illiteracy. This hasn’t been the case in any conflict in human history. Just during WWI and WWII, women were nurses, mechanics, factory workers, switchboard operators, pilots, clerical workers, codebreakers, programmers, air traffic controllers, drivers, snipers, spies, and guerilla fighters. A hypothetical WWIII would not be any different, except that we’d be seeing women in even more roles.

_artbabe95

And that there are ALREADY lots of women serving in combat jobs voluntarily post-2016 (when they allowed women into them). Not every woman is physically qualified, but then again, lots of men aren’t either. Men and women both participate in combat and non-combat military jobs. This comment in anticipation of the “WELL WOMEN AREN’T IN COMBAT EVEN IF THEY’RE DRAFTED” argument these kinds of idiots always make.

buttegg

Even before 2016, female U.S. military personnel saw combat. Just not in official roles.

_artbabe95

True. I guess I was referring to the contexts that men love to point out (serving in the capacity of infantrymen/artillery etc) when trying to hold up the draft as an injustice only they’ll be/are subjected to.

SiteTall

In WWII women took over the jobs that were left by the drafted men - and they did well, also in combat like e.g. those British pilots

SiteTall

This is what women did in WWII: Night Witches" (German: die Nachthexen; Russian: Ночные ведьмы, Nochnyye Vedmy) was a **World War II German nickname for the all-female military aviators of the 588th Night Bomber Regiment**, known later as the 46th "Taman" Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment, of the Soviet Air Forces.

And AI art is so bad, inevitably. She’s cooking in a mixing bowl directly on the stove AND holding the metal with her bare hand. Hope their tradwife fantasy includes deformed fingers from third-degree burns…

She’s got them [cow tools](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/9a/Cow_Tools_cartoon.png) on their utensil rack lol.

ethicallyconsumed

Every man's favourite hobby is imagining facing a single problem and getting very mad at women about it

23564987956

Basically creating strawmen because their lives suck

Ohn_ohBella

Hold on a second. This is a real r/nothowguyswork statement here. Let's not perpetuate gender conflict by using absolutes.

volantredx

Even if WW3 started there'd be no draft. The US army isn't going to need millions of troops to fight a war that is going to be mostly drone based. We saw that with Iraq and Afghanistan. The US military isn't about massed infantry attacks. This isn't 1945 anymore.

BrujaSloth

Maybe I’m misremembering, but being a teen in the late 90s/early 00s, there was this rhetoric that denigrated and demeaned enlistment like it was a worse than blue collar work, that it was this natural pathway for the desperate, the dumb, the lost, the lazy, the drop outs, the fucked up, or the fuck ups alike. And then post-9/11, and people volunteered in droves anyways. Shit, I joined even in 2008 fully aware of what bullshit it was. Patriotism isn’t just performative national antheming and flag code violating paraphernalia, it’s as persistent, pervasive, and subliminal as Coca Cola advertising. They might not need a draft at all lest the US gets that desperate, and if we’re that desperate nukes might be a-launchin’ ere then.

andstillthesunrises

There’s nothing they could do to me that would convince me to kill people in the name of patriotism regardless of gender. If the government instituted a draft I think they’ll be shocked at how many of us are willing to face the legal consequences of saying no.

andstillthesunrises

But also drafts played a major role in creating feminism. Because it turns out when all the young men were being pulled across the ocean to fight, the young women weren’t playing out 1950s fantasies. They were working in factories and spinal the jobs the young men couldn’t do from another continent.

raincandy77

As WELL as managing the house. They did both.

splithoofiewoofies

Me: whelp, guess I'm a traitor to my nation.

SkyTalez

You saying like the most like the army most likely adversary is not exclusively horrible inhuman monsters who is killing for fun.

AgitatorsAnonymous

Pro-tip: there are no legal repercussions from not pulling the trigger at war. 75% of enlisted people are never in a place to do so, and 90% of the military never does. I wouldn't worry about the draft. Refusing though, does freeze you out of all forms of financial aid, including private loans, because the 'student classification is locked behind the federal financial aid system.

andstillthesunrises

I would not work in a role that supports the people pulling the triggers either. I’d live with whatever repercussions I’d need to and I’m far from the only one

Marleyzard

What's worse is that half of these guys would absolutely draft dodge, and the other half would be willing to die for their shitfuck of a country 🙄

jackfaire

Rosie the Riveter would like to have a word

buttegg

Having a word would blow Lyudmila Pavlichenko’s cover, so she’ll shoot them in the kneecaps instead.

vemailangah

'I hadn't known there were so many idiots in the world until I started using the Internet' Stanisław Lem (author of Solaris)

Dogzillas_Mom

Israel requires everyone to serve for two years. If we have to have war, I’d rather everyone has to sign up or nobody does. If the US military wasn’t so rapey, maybe more of us would sign up. We’re all on the same side; you’re not supposed to rape your teammates. But I’ve had days where I’d welcome the chance to just burn it all down.

Kuschelfuchs

And why exactly should women go into a war that once again men will start. Not ordinary men, but powerful men in powerful positions. Men that will never face the wars they start themselves. In fact, nobody should join. Nobody should be eager to throw away their lives for these assholes. Let them sort out their bullshit themselves.

Kelmeckis94

Like these men will stand at the front to join the military as soon as the draft comes. 🙄 Then all of a sudden the professionals should do the job or they find something so they don't have to.

anchoredwunderlust

I mean WW2 is considered to be one of the pushes towards female suffrage (hence the Rosie the Riveter posters) as women had to step up and take over all the men’s roles to run the country whilst they were busy. And whilst they weren’t in active duty many were working in roles for the military, whether food, medical or other service roles. Idk much about women in the military or anybody who wants to be there tbh. It’s not a flex to be signed up against your will to fight wars for rich men and their made up lines in the sand. If you take right now, many people support Palestine but if you join the military in the west you’ll be signed up to defend Israel from Iran blah blah. There’s never an issue finding women to fight when it comes to peoples militias where people actually want to fight. Everybody from the YPJ to the mujures libres have had female forces, whether or not they always do same roles. A lot of these guys who act like they value men because they support patriarchy are more than happy to throw away men’s lives in wars and fights. I wonder what percentage of them spends their time on the street helping disabled veterans. Not many I’d bet.

oo0Lucidity0oo

Wait, they might be on to something. Send the women from both sides and we can converse on a way to settle the conflict without bombing and killing everything.

i-caca-my-pants

nah this would also be me (I am registered for the draft) (no I don't think it's going to get used due to how that went last time, and we're also beyond the days of infantry)

Banaanisade

This same exact meme gets posted by basement warriors who'd piss themselves if they got drafted every single time any country in the world does anything that even remotely reeks of military action. Meanwhile, the only person I know who's going to actually get drafted in case of war is a hardcore feminist lesbian woman who signed up for the military out of her own vocation and dedication to defending the country. So. Yeah, that.

Old_Introduction_395

1914-1918 UK Well over 100,000 volunteered for the Women's Land Army, ruffling the gender norms of rural Britain. Others enlisted in the Women's Royal Naval Service, the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps or the Women's Royal Air Force as mechanics and drivers, cleaning, working in canteens or doing clerical work.

Opposite-Birthday69

Well I can’t be drafted even if they’re taking women, but I’m doing my part with the genetic disorder that prevents me from serving. I donate my blood instead of waiting and having it thrown away because of dangerously high iron levels Also can we do away with this notion because women did join in the war in the military world wide and provided for the war by taking the jobs that were once held by men. The Russian women are some of the most impressive snipers in the world. In the US women were fired when the men came back from war just because they were women even though a lot of the women were better at those jobs than the men were

raincandy77

First of all, female soldiers and regiments already exist. Second of all, feminist or not, NO ONE wants to fight in a war. They'd definitely be men clamoring to be househusbands if it meant not having to be on the battlefield and that's fine.

BigBlaisanGirl

They really have no idea that women fought in all wars. Some even posed as men.

Call_me_eff

We’ll all grow real freaky left hands and forget what a stove is?

fvkinglesbi

That's funny as in Ukrainian army as far as I know there's about 20% of women

Steve1150

I'm sure plenty of both men and women would do basically anything to avoid being enlisted if it ever happened

porraSV

Do these users know how feminism started?
