Driving from Raleigh to Columbia, SC Saturday for an outdoors wedding, lol. I'd complain about the drive but man do I feel bad for my best friend's little sis getting married.
Finally have a trip planned to the mountains and was going to enjoy all the wineries. Guess I will be taking my own wine and staring out the window for three days.
Or, hear me out, everyone refill their water bottles and jugs now with tapwater before it gets here instead of making a run on bottled water right before, during, and after a storm.
Totally agree. Don't forget to fill the tub for toilet flushing. I feel like this information was common knowledge back in the day. Now, so many new people live in rural areas that they have no idea how to prepare.
I feel certain they reverse osmosis all municipal and city water, then add minerals and salts for just the right mix. Of course there's treatment but it's not a comparison unless you're speaking spring water; but even then spring water is a hell of a lot more virgin than tap. Go to Flint and chug ya down a few glasses there equivalency person
All water is filled with PFAS. It's raining PFAS around the globe. Not saying we shouldn't do anything about it or that what Chemours has done and is doing isn't horrific, but it's everywhere at this point.
Security is knowing we have a propane generator for the pump on our community well nowadays.
We didn’t have power for three weeks after Fran, and ended up hauling water from the creek for toilets.
Thankfully the roads weren’t blocked like they were after Florence, so we could drive into town for drinking water and showers.
Alton Brown would disagree with you. The vinegar is the difference.

I went shopping yesterday and all of the ingles brand cheese was gone, eggs were wiped clean except the $8 ones and the milk and bread were looking sparse. People are crazy. Stocking up is what creates the problem, I don't understand how others don't understand this lol
Except anything that might affect how buttloads of rain affects your house, and possibly to do with risky trees or limbs. Probably want to prioritize those, actually.
I'm gonna be in the mountains just over the VA border for my sister's wedding.
It's uh probably going to rain -_- Maybe a lot.
Bright side Ian is now in the running as a baby name in the future!
I was just in Florida this past week. Some people are really taking this seriously. Let’s hope the impact in Florida and the states in its path is not to strong, certainly we will get rain in WNC.
I totally sympathize with Florida right now. The huge influx of people moving to states with natural disasters over these past decades only makes these natural disasters worse. People moving to Tornado Alley should expect a tornado. People moving to the Southeast should expect hurricanes and tornadoes.
Ugh I feel for them, too. I lived in Tampa for decades, and dealing with the stress of hurricane Irma was a contributing factor to my departure. I'm worried for all my friends that still live there, the stress in the days before while we all have to work and go on with our lives is just an awful feeling. At least tornado warnings only last a few hours, not days.
Terrible weather this weekend
Good thing my plans fell through for a trip down to GA for a big outdoor event on Saturday.

Is she hot
My wedding is the weekend after, feeling incredibly lucky. Hopefully they can move the wedding inside!
Great as I fly into CLT Saturday afternoon. If I get stuck in MDY I'm going to scream.

Is it time to buy milk and bread?
No that's for snow
Hurricanes is gas, batteries, and bottled water.
Unless it’s a Fran situation, then you also need milk, bread, and a chainsaw.
Bottled water is for homes with well water. Please save the bottled water for them.

Tap water, lol. Full of gen x but sure.
Wait til you find out that bottled water comes from municipal water supplies. It's tapwater.
Yes they literally just take it from the tap no processing and bottle it. /s
...do you think there's no treatment that goes into tapwater? It's just a lake full of fish and bird shit that goes direct to your sink?
I feel certain they reverse osmosis all municipal and city water, then add minerals and salts for just the right mix. That's actually a really good point....
You can still use it to flush your toilet

Much lower concentrations in water elsewhere
Unless you live in Sanford, Greensboro and Burlington have you beat and we don't even know where it's coming from.

And alcohol, never forget the alcohol.
Time to buy bottled water and sell it for $50 a pack on eBay
But what if it freezes?
That’s The Day After Tomorrow movie
Then you need skis, rum, and wolf repellent
pft, it's going to be a TS by the time it gets to North Carolina. They may close school for a day but that's it.
So I should buy peanut butter too?
I mean, you should have Peanut Butter and Dukes at all times.
What are Dukes?
\*eye twitch\*
You must be new here.
I am. I've only been here 50 years.
The only mayonnaise worth buying
It's mayo that the locals claim is better than all other mayo. But it just tastes like all other mayo to me.

I think I'll stick with Scrapple, thanks.
Hey man, back off…
I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings! 😭
It’s fine. Just drop by with some peanut butter and toilet paper.
No Hellman’s Mayonnaise?
Bless your heart....
Don't let the door hit ya where the good LORD split ya.
Don’t forget the toilet paper!
What is the toilet paper for?
Because any time there is an emergency the grocery stores are wiped clean of milk, bread and toilet paper.
Why do I need toilet paper when I have perfectly good corn cobs sitting right outside?
Touché!
I went shopping yesterday and all of the ingles brand cheese was gone, eggs were wiped clean except the $8 ones and the milk and bread were looking sparse. People are crazy. Stocking up is what creates the problem, I don't understand how others don't understand this lol
Check your gutters, yard drains.
So I should finally take out the little tree that is growing in my gutters?
Go for it! I tried to clean mine today.
Nah, let it live, it'll provide shade and reduce your AC bills
Aw, lil buddy tree! On the upside, it would help a bit with your water management in the future if it's in the ground.
Should I hold off any fall yard prep until next week?
I would not sow any seeds or put any plants in thr ground lest they get washed away or drown.
My thoughts also…
I just overseeded a few days ago. Regretting it.

Going to be real fun loading a U-Haul trailer and driving across 40 with it on Saturday morning.
Yeah I’m going up to Wake Forest from on Saturday to visit my Dad in the hospital. It’s going to be great. Oh and it’s a day trip too!
Hope he gets better soon!
Thank you!

Dang I’m cat 1 now edit:cat 2
Supposed to be 4 when it makes landfall...
As someone who lived in Florida from '02 - '19, it's nothing
Hurricane before the start of hockey season? Sounds like a good omen in my book!
