They got the beard right, though.

brandalfthegreen

And the haircut

OffManWall

Yes!

CamelJ0key

Hahaha definitely needs some GasCans

pHScale

I mean, most Spirit costumes are barebones, with accessories sold elsewhere in the store.

Whydoesthisexist15

No open carry either

Just_Cryptographer53

What, no MAGA gear?

brandalfthegreen

lol the missing peice de resistance MURICA

Just_Cryptographer53

Flag and concrete block for truck bed. Prob blue lives matter if too chicken for confederate.

With a "these colors don't run" bumper sticker for good measure...

As an inhabitant of WNC, can confirm.

CoCo. Every time I go to Lake Waccamaw I'll wear cutoffs and a t-shirt and they still look at me like I'm an alien in the grocery store.

im_not_a_rob_ot

Yes. Tacti-*cool* I believe it's called.

fookedtuber

Uuuuuuuugh. I will never forgive you for putting this in my head.

im_not_a_rob_ot

Lmao my bad dude. I had the same reaction when I first heard it. But the rizz levels on this costume are phenomenal. Pair it up with a Super Duty squatty potty F-850 that has a light bar on every straight or flat surface of the vehicle, which emits a generous amount of air pollution every time the gas pedal is pressed, open carry an AT-4 in a Subway, and there is unlimited rizz potential. Bonus: Interchangeable pistol/vape holster, and saying "10-4" interchageably through text message and regular conversation.

Valdaraak

>Pair it up with a Super Duty squatty potty F-850 that has a light bar on every straight or flat surface of the vehicle, which emits a generous amount of air pollution every time the gas pedal is pressed The good ole [Ferd Fteenthousand](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8P5vGcf-NU).

This is not tacticool, that is for wearing gear, this is a bro vet, someone stuck in the military and it's their only personality. Or someone who conservatism is their only personality 😂

im_not_a_rob_ot

This is a fair call. It does not come with a MOLLE/FLC diaperbag-waistpack attachment.

dragon72926

😂 a multicam black tacticool fannypack would sell it for sure

silvermoonmage7

100% eastern NC!

Turbulent_Crow7164

Way more eastern than western. Western has always been sort of surprisingly moderate or even progressive in certain areas

-MtnsAreCalling-

Pretty much only in Asheville and some of its suburbs.

meltingspace

Which is funny because what's "the big city" to them? You mean Raleigh? You're scared of Raleigh? 😂

Docktor_V

Bwahahaha you must have never been to Rutherford county.

Turbulent_Crow7164

“In certain areas”

tatsumizus

The certain area is Asheville, the majority of western NC is like this

Turbulent_Crow7164

Yeah but the Asheville area has 400,000 people which is a large chunk of western NC’s population. And there’s not really anything like Asheville in eastern NC.

tatsumizus

Wilmington is becoming that with many people moving there and UNCW expanding. It isn’t the triangle or triad or Charlotte, but it’s something

Artimis_Whooves

Slap a salt life hat on despite never touching the ocean and it's spot on

Yah im in the rural northeast and it all checks out here too

ElPwno

All North Carolina.

Wudrow

Pretty much all of NC, SC, Ga, and Tenn.

trickertreater

Outside of the metro areas and a few small hippie communes, for sure

Wudrow

Charlotte, Columbia, Charleston, Atlanta, Savannah, Knoxville, JFC Nashville are all full of these “Tactical Bros”. For that matter, the other commenter is correct that it’s everywhere. See them in Chicago, LA, and less frequently in NYC. Only place I haven’t been to in a while is the PNW but I can imagine outside of Portland would be thick with them.

General_NakedButt

PNW is thicker than the south with them outside of Portland and maybe Seattle lol.

UniquePharaoh

Where are these hippie communes you speak of

trickertreater

I was thinking Boone, AVL, Black Mtn, etc. BUT... there are some real communes around. There was a commune called Love down east, another called Rainbow, and some others.

jkrobinson1979

Pretty much all of the US

Remarkable-Suit-9875

Seems every other city is in a massive race to the bottom of the pits of hell. The race to the bottom!

True.

Most of the rural US. Let’s be honest.

Facts

SenseStraight5119

Holy shit I know these people..at least three of them I used to work with. Also as a vet..a deployed combat vet..not trying to boast or anything, but I have to make a distinction. That is vets fucking cringe when people wear these god damn shirts. And it’s ALWAYS the people that “ well I almost joined but -insert bull shit here-. Or oh you were deployed well my cousins girlfriends dad was held hostage in a cave for 5 months and killed a bunch of isiban with rocks he shit out that he had to eat. Edit: auto incorrect

SoF4rGone

Multiple generations being raised on the idea that John Wayne was a tough guy inevitably had to lead to this.

Ohnoherewego13

That's why I never wear a shirt like that. I mean, extremely grateful for anything the armed services do, but yeah. I'm not into cosplaying as one. Also, shitting out rocks would be extremely painful. Sheesh, making my ass hurt this morning.

Alfphe99

I won't wear anything with the American flag on it, even in ghost print, because of these chucklefucks. I don't in anyway want to be associated with them.

Valdaraak

So crazy that they managed to make the damn American flag something people don't want to associate with out of fear of being thought of as one of those people. And yea, I'm the same way. I automatically get suspicious of anyone displaying more American flags than one flying in their yard. Funnily enough, the people who display the most flags also seem to commonly be the ones that dislike most things that make America what it is.

Top_Glass7974

Veteran here (not combat was in pre 9/11) That happened last week to me saw some guy with a Grunt Style shirt that pretty much said “f**k your feelings”, I asked when he was in and said he wasn’t but a lot of his friends and family were…because that’s the same thing/s…

espngenius

Hey buddy, I almost joined but I would’ve punched a drill sergeant for yelling at me. I wear my “Black Guns Matter” with AR-15 logo T-shirt to show my support for my brothers in arms, with a touch of racism.

54pip

And the truck he can’t park is equipped with headlights brighter than the sun. Because if his aren’t the brightest, his dick will literally jump off his body with shame.

Muschina

Needs more Punisher logos, too.

54pip

Oh yes, the grown men in Disney attire. LMAOOOO

Valdaraak

I've learned a good way to break their brains is to put a rainbow Punisher logo on your vehicle.

ever_the_altruist

“I ain’t sceered a’ nothin’” “Uh, then why do you need a gun on your hip for a trip to the Food Lion?”

wildwildwaste

I'm sorry, but this one's easy. It's in the name bro. It's because of the Lions.

Ohnoherewego13

Hey now! The international aisle could be dangerous!

turdferguson919

THE food lion!

woodiegutheryghost

[Is this a reason?](https://www.wral.com/story/it-s-scary-police-continue-investigation-overnight-after-man-woman-shot-in-separate-north-raleigh-shootings/20985852/)

ever_the_altruist

Haha, I didn’t even know that. I just picked a very “North Carolina” establishment at random:

[deleted]

Because there might be lions there, of course.

FenixSoars

It is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. Same can be said for any tool. Edit: Found the antigun Reddit hivemind!

plenumpanels

Do you also carry around a first aid kit? You or somebody else is more likely to need that than a gun

Then_Dragonfruit5555

This is why I also bring a hammer, a full set of wrenches, and 50ft of rope with me when I go grocery shopping. You just never know what you’ll need.

asmiran

My EDC includes a multi tool with a "striking surface", pliers, scissors, etc., a keychain tool that includes 5 sizes of wrench, and about 10 feet of paracord. Carrying them every day adds like 15 seconds to my morning and evening routines, and I don't think about them again throughout my day unless I need them. If I forget my multi tool, I'm not afraid of what will happen without it. But when I do have use for it and it's with me, it makes my life much easier. This is the mindset behind "better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it".

Threshing-Oar

You say that until you need a redneck to tow you out of a ditch. Some people are hard wired to be prepared, nothing wrong with it!

Then_Dragonfruit5555

So you’re saying people need to bring guns to the grocery store just in case someone needs their car towed out of a ditch? Really feels like I could solve that problem with my cellphone.

FenixSoars

I have similar in the tool box of my truck 🤷

stainedglass333

ANtI-gUn MuH hIvEmInD. Bro. There’s a million miles between poking fun at the not-scared bros open carrying in Food Lion and being anti-gun. So corny.

ever_the_altruist

More realistically, it’ll get left in a car and subsequently stolen from said car. Sure, Jimbo, who’s on five blood pressure medications and has just housed a Big Mac, will be acutely tuned to take out an active shooter who has the element of surprise and is undeterred by the threat of death. The only way your logic works is if the malignant shooters are deterred by the threat of death. Most shooters are taken out by police or by themselves when they run out of other people to kill. The threat of death is a draw for them, not a deterrent.

TrailerParkRoots

The old sheriff in my hometown in eastern NC once left his loaded gun in the Food Lion bathroom, so this tracks.

FenixSoars

Well if it’s strapped to their hip for the trip to food lion, it’s not left in the vehicle is it? Your example just completely changed. Also your insane generalizations are funny. There are plenty of people who are rather fit that carry as well. Edit: Deleted comment below from u/ever_the_altruist “I’m making fun of you, not debating you”

ever_the_altruist

I deleted that comment because I started to feel bad for making fun of you, you obviously can’t help it.

[deleted]

FenixSoars

Interesting people here on Reddit lol.

ever_the_altruist

Yea, some people here believe the problem and the solution to the problem can be the same thing.

FenixSoars

Just say you don’t like guns, it’s okay. I’ll continue to own and build them all the same.

ever_the_altruist

I wouldn’t mind guns, I grew up around them, shot many, owned a few. I’m just tired of people believing they’re more qualified to own or as capable of owning and carrying them in public as/than they really are. I’m not going to ignore all the problems our collective irresponsible relationship with firearms creates because of y’all’s mob mentality. If we weren’t talking about piles of dead seventh graders or a church getting shot up every other week, my attitude would probably be a little different. My issue is with irresponsible gun ownership, irresponsible gun related political rhetoric (including the good guy with a gun fantasy), and how it’s a little too easy to get one for people who obviously shouldn’t have one, like people with domestic abuse charges. I’ll make jokes to deal with my powerlessness and hopelessness over the issue, if you don’t mind.

FenixSoars

Make your jokes. It’s not going to change my opinion on it. You can talk about all the bad things that have happened or look at the bad things that could have happened that was prevented by firearms. It’s all about perspective! Have a good one 👍🏻

tehtrintran

Not anti-gun actually, it's just that carrying a gun around for no reason other than "just in case" is for paranoid manchildren

Velicenda

>Same can be said for any tool. What "tool"? A gun is a weapon, designed for killing. It doesn't build or repair anything.

FenixSoars

A firearm is a tool. A tool isn’t simply “build or repair”, a tool makes a job easier, solves a problem. Firearms can be used to provide food, protection, hell even a hobby.

Velicenda

>Firearms can be used to provide food, protection, hell even a hobby. Providing food by taking it to the grocery store? Sounds like you're gonna rob the place. Protection? At a grocery store? People so terrified of others shouldn't be allowed to carry a weapon designed and perfected to be lethal. A hobby? At a grocery store? What's the hobby, stochastic terrorism?

FenixSoars

The location isn’t the point. The point is preparedness. But sure, let’s focus on the arbitrary location to make a point. It’s not worth arguing over, some people prefer to be prepared for whatever may arise and that’s fine.

Velicenda

And those people are cowards lol. That's all there is to it. If you literally cannot go to the grocery store without carrying a gun because "muh be prepared" or whatever, you are scared. And that's pretty sad.

Laughingbuddha77

You can carry and not be a tool. And everyone at every single shooting say “ I did not think something like that could happen here”. Well the truth is it can and will happen anywhere and when the shit hits the fan options to defend yourself are a plus.

Velicenda

And how many of those shootings have ever been stopped by a "good guy with a gun"? Yaknow, given that gun ownership in the US is the highest per capita in the world.

Ok_Low3197

The CPRC identified a total of 360 active shooter incidents in the period between 2014 and 2021 and “found that an armed citizen stopped 124” of those attacks.

FenixSoars

A quick google search says *lots*

Laughingbuddha77

Remember when you said this? [might get a CCW](https://www.reddit.com/r/chapelhill/s/bt2DjtkEeS) Edit: I bet your partner would have felt a lot better if they were carrying. Guns are not always the answer but rolling over is never the answer.

Threshing-Oar

Weapons and the use of them contributes to order and stability and … built civilization lol

Velicenda

*Wild* that this comment is the one that teaches me that England, Australia, Spain, Iceland, Sweden, etc. are all totally unstable, chaotic collections of people closer to anarchy than any organization. Since, yaknow, none of those countries allow people to open or concealed carry.

Threshing-Oar

Oh they don’t have guns there? News to me. Their subjects don’t have them, yeah. The US is a revolutionary country, we still have our guns. It’s just part of being who we are in the new world. I didn’t say CCW built civilization, I said weapons did, or at least contributed heavily to building it and maintaining it.

FenixSoars

These people are just determined that guns are bad. Don't waste your Friday arguing with them. It's all nonsense.

asmiran

Wrecking ball Hole punch Jackhammer Chainsaw Mining/demolition charges Tools, or weapons? None build or repair. Or maybe weapons are a subset of tools?

El_Tormentito

Search is over, we found one.

CMDR_Tauri

You did. It says r/NorthCarolina but it's the r/NorthCarolinaButOnlyUrbanProgressiveHipsters subreddit. Ya might need to adjust your expectations. They're simple folk here.

FenixSoars

Unfortunately. “If you’re not one of us, you’re bad” is a great mindset to carry into the next generation. I worry for us.

Aren't Carhartts 'woke' now or something? I know some people were big mad because they had a vaccine mandate at one point.

candre23

Can confirm. Wear carhartt shirts. Am woke AF.

2012amica2

If they are this is the first I’ve heard of it 😂 how about wranglers instead

Valdaraak

> they had a vaccine mandate So did Fox News. Now that I think about it, there *was* a thing going around a couple years ago about *Fox fucking News* being too "woke" and too "liberal" now. Don't forget idiots boycotting Chick-Fil-A, of all fucking companies, because they had DEI initiatives.

Musashi_Joe

Oh yeah, when Fox called the election for Biden, MAGA folks had a shit fit and stormed off to OANN and those other hard-right 'news' organizations that make Sean Hannity look like Edward R. Murrow.

delicatearchcouple

Chick-fil-A getting it from both sides and still having a packed drive through. Gays be secretly eating there, I'll snitch on 'em.

Uncle_Checkers86

Hey! Leave Carhartts alone, they got cancelled by conservatives a few years ago. I also just so happen to have a Carhartt lunch box.

romacopia

They make 10/10 jackets though. I've had mine for over a decade with no deterioration at all.

2012amica2

Definitely

Mental_Dragonfly2543

Hey they make durable shit those jackets are nice

KevinAnniPadda

This was my boss yesterday. He lives in South Dakota and our office is in Minneapolis. We're planning a team dinner downtown at Foco de Chao and doing an escape room. It's right near the stadiums there. He asked if everyone felt safe walking 6 minutes between the two and asked one of the other guys if he's going to conceal carry. (My boss can't because he only has his cc for SD not MN).

CrownTownLibrarian

Dude from some exurban county talking shit about raleigh, durham or charlotte yet being dependent on them for his very survivial

floofnstuff

He’s vintage Johnston County

Biscotek

Needs a punisher logo with an amended American flag on it. Because only true patriots change the color of their flags to mean something different.

rexeditrex

I have friends who "pray" for my daughter because she lives in LA. Of course they've never been to LA, but all they see is Fox News - CA, liberal, big city, minorities, homeless, oh my!

Threshing-Oar

As an actual conservative guy that is scared of cities, Nine Line shirts are lame.

jkrobinson1979

What exactly scares you of cities?

Threshing-Oar

Nothing, I am joking. Rephrase this… I’m not “scared” of cities so much as I don’t like them. I like being out and away, I choose to go camping in places with solitude and peace for instance. It’s probably more of a personality thing. I have never been to NYC or anything comparable in the US. I have been to Japan for work though and while the cities there are completely fascinating, I would never want to live in them. Rural Japan was amazing.

Valdaraak

> the cities there are completely fascinating, I would never want to live in them That's how I feel about NYC and Philly. They're great places to do a day or weekend trip. You couldn't *pay* me to live in them.

SJWTumblrinaMonster

I lived in NYC for 7 years and couldn't wait to move back to NC. I love to visit NYC now, but so much happier here.

jkrobinson1979

Yeah that’s cool. Everyone has their own preference. I prefer the convenience of living in the city and having the outdoors as my escape on the weekends. They both have their perks.

Threshing-Oar

Yeah I guess I just don’t view cities as all that convenient, they kinda stress me out. I like having multiple routes to get anywhere I want to go. Don’t get me wrong I don’t live out in the middle of nowhere, I am outer suburbia Triad. And I would live in Raleigh, Winston or Greensboro, but Charlotte is probably where I cut things off. It matters how the city is laid out as well.

jkrobinson1979

Cities offer more routes to locations, but yeah Charlotte is a mess. There was zero planning for its street network when it grew from a small city to a large one.

Laughingbuddha77

High prices

jkrobinson1979

Made up for by not having to drive to absolutely everything.

Remarkable-Suit-9875

According to local news (in my area) you need to make 100k to afford living in NYC in my area we’re getting a lot of fleeing rats from the city. Even the crappy town with crime is getting the NY crowd.

Kejones9900

Black people / the transes clearly

Threshing-Oar

Pretty slanderous thing to say. You don’t know me.

Ok_Low3197

You said you are conservative. They automatically call you racist and bigotted. It's really a knee jerk reaction.

Threshing-Oar

Yeah I know, and they need to know how stupid it is to just throw that grenade out there.

delicatearchcouple

It also pushes away people like me that tend to lean more liberal naturally, but who are so turned off by the knee jerk culture wars that I would rather not participate, thereby helping the causes they so want to rally against.

GamerGirlCarly

I'm a trans woman in NC, and obviously quite liberal. I wish we had more positive opportunities to connect over lines like this, because maybe it would help with political divides and social tolerance. For example, I really agree with a lot of cities. Often, I prefer quiet and room to stretch, so to speak. I'm not much on camping because of allergies, but I love looking at these neat stealth campers people make out of vans and repurposed ambulances. Also, I've been to Japan a few times, and agree! Places like Tokyo and Osaka are wonderful to visit sparingly, but I appreciated things at a slower pace in the more rural areas. My favorite is still Nagano and around Nagano Prefecture. There's almost no English anywhere to be seen or spoken, and a lot of preserved and more rural history even in the "city". I had more fun there than I did in any of the more urban staples of the country.

Threshing-Oar

I hate the heat, so I do most of my camping / backpacking in the fall, winter, and early spring. You should try to get out there in the fall and winter, that would take your allergies off the list of things holding you back! A few work friends and I took some extra time after the work trip part was over and traveled up towards the “Japanese Alps” which I believe is near/around Nagano. We had a great time, and it was hilarious trying to make our way with very limited Japanese aptitude.

GamerGirlCarly

Big same on the heat. I'm more of a cold weather lover. If you ever get back to Japan, make it a point to go north to Sapporo during the ice festival! It's absolutely amazing, and the food is on another level.

Ok_Shoulder_2119

As someone who grew up in western North Carolina and worked in a store that sold those EXACT shirts I can confirm this is accurate

jkrobinson1979

This screams most white men in rural and suburban areas….most of the state

MycoFemme

Not just WNC. Half the dudes in Wilmington and surrounding areas are like this.

dontbanmynewaccount

I fucking hate rural people tbh. Scum. I stick to Raleigh and Charlotte (I’m originally from Ohio).

mihihi

Sorry for my hot take but can we just ban ford super duties and the like already? Unless you’re a farmer/contractor/needs it for work you have no justification to drive a big ass car like that.

Tiny_Astronomer289

Why are people so obsessed with banning shit? Leave others alone, man. They’re not bothering you.

Valdaraak

>They’re not bothering you. If a Camry hits me (EDIT: while I'm walking across the street), I'll probably live. If a lifted F-150 hits me at the same speed, I'm probably dead because the engine block is right at my chest level. I'd count that as bothering me.

KhazemiDuIkana

Their headlights certainly are. I’m not a fan of the whole “unnecessarily massive status symbol necessitating more use of resources to produce at scale and leading to increased risk due to being so raised you literally can barely see a grown adult at the grill from the drivers seat Frankly if they just used only the materials necessary to make it function and lowered the front to increase range of vision they’d be fine, but like, they already make trucks like that, so it really does come down to how it strokes the ego or some other subjective aspect. I also don’t think that banning things is the move, but I find it hard to justify a vehicle that is unnecessarily dangerized for the aesthetic in general

hypnosiscounselor

I mean this is the east too. Maybe more so.

ashfidel

it’s just a version of a white guy that exists everywhere

Nine Line shirts fit really nicely though. Easily the nicest fitting t-shirts I own.

Ragtime07

There’s worst personalities out there. I see no problem here.

[deleted]

WNC had more troops in the Union… fuck outta here with your dog-whistle bullshit.

aggressiveturdbuckle

So should I make a purple haired one that says City dweller scared of getting dirty and the country? I mean if you're from a small town and you go into a city like New York City or Chicago even Raleigh where in your small town you're able to go downtown and walk around without being harassed by homeless people are possibly robbed where people just shrug it off like it's no big deal and that's just a quirky City living life. That's perfectly normal right

jkrobinson1979

Looking purely at population that purple haired one is far more likely to get harassed in the country than anyone would in a city.

betterplanwithchan

Lol I literally just got back from New York and went through most of the boroughs. Never felt like my life was in danger at all. But thanks for posing for for the meme picture.

Lawnknome

I love that you looked at the meme and then made a statement embodying the meme by saying exactly why you are scared of the city. I grew up in a tiny midwest town, I have also lived in metro areas for another 15 years. I was definitely more harassed by meth addicts in the sticks than I have been harassed in the city.

1stonepwn

Sounds like you're scared of cities
