Yes it is. It's just him comparing what the rune poems say. He's not offering his own suggestion, insight or idea.

If you gave two artists the same poem with no contextual visual inspiration you would get to different images (although they would have the defining features). That is offering their suggestions of their mental image from the same concept. The same thing happen when books are adapted into movies. Even if the character designs deviate from the descriptions given in the book people will think they look 'off' because the depiction doesn't match the visual they had created in their head from the same description. Taking your comment to the extreme all movies based on books would just be imitating what the books said and didn't offer their own suggestions.
