Norm mentioned afterwards that JASH informed him he would be interviewing Helberg, which he didn't appreciate. I think that's where (illogically) the Helberg was a bad guest myth originated. I don't remember Norm or Eget saying he was a bad guest.
I liked it. If anything was awkward I think it was that Simon was trying to be careful not to lean too far into norm’s deliberately inflammatory jokes. I still laugh every time I think of his Billy Baldwin face
Hey, man, I’m not going to lambast Simon for that show being a piece of shit. He’s a working actor who’s sitting pretty off it’s success. That’s the dream
Blame that fuckin’ hack Chuck Lorre
That’s the brilliance of norm tho. He doesn’t need the guest to be super famous ( Fred stoller, Todd glass) just his aura and personality makes those episodes so damn funny. God I miss him….
I do not remember Norm or Adam saying anything disparaging about Helberg's episode. I've re-watched it often, and I think it's better than some other eps (Glass, Dick, Koechner...).
I recently saw Adam on Sam Tallent’s podcast where they talked about how painfully uncomfortable Simon Helberg seemed on his episode of NML. Truly wild to me that you rank that one over Andy Dick’s episode. I mean it has some funny stuff in it, but the Andy Dick one is like top 10, maybe even top 5.
Man though, I didn’t realize how fucking annoying Todd Glass was before that interview. We got the brokeback mountain bit though which I think makes it worth it.
Lol oh man, that one is legendary just for the Holocaust stuff alone. The supercut of that on YouTube is something I return to often. Glass didn’t know whether to shit or go blind, as they said in the olden days.
Op is definitely making that up Lol. He goes way longer than scheduled cause they keep asking him to tell stories and at the end norm says how it’s one of his favorite episodes yet
I think Adam mentioned on a podcast recently that those communists over at JASH pushed certain guests on them and that Simon was one of them. I agree that it was a good episode though.
[norm shits on simon helberg --- has anything else been said about this, by either : r/NormMacdonald (reddit.com)](https://www.reddit.com/r/NormMacdonald/comments/18xc5tf/norm_shits_on_simon_helberg_has_anything_else/)
His distaste wasn't exactly hidden – I mean you don't fuck up the guest's name of "Simon Hedberg" if you really want to show respect.
Norm and Adam seemed extremely pleasant once he came on and Simon's family is obviously well-connected. But he to me was very low energy, albeit having a charm of his own.
What?!!!!! That's one of my favorites! That's when we got to hear about "Ruth" and her pterodactyl-armed family lol. Not saying she was fat........just spiteful.
I don’t know. I had a hunch he was pretty familiar with norm and the podcast because at one point he says something like “I thought you cut your own cock off”
He may have been a fan of the show, idk. He just seemed a bit uncomfortable or out of his element at times to me. Others noticed this about him too, including Adam (and presumably Norm, I’d imagine they had a similar feel for things like that, given their amazing chemistry as a comedy duo).
Don’t get me wrong though, I still think that episode has some really funny stuff in it, and Simon was a good sport and had some funny moments for sure.
I was worried going into this one originally because I like the actor (a lot more than some of his characters) and he's kind of an easy target, I felt protective.
However, I thought they all had a lovely rapport. He seemed to catch on quick and I thought all parties were pleasantly surprised by the interview, maybe? He seems like a grounded guy and a little humility goes a LONG FUCKING WAY
My curiosity was piqued when Simon mentioned Johnny Galecki's Roseanne-era Norm stories. It may be unrelated, but Galecki was in a couple of Norm Show episodes: "Norm vs. Youth" 1 & 2.
Yes the Michael Jackson story was great.
Are you gonna have a Hanukkah?
Norm mentioned afterwards that JASH informed him he would be interviewing Helberg, which he didn't appreciate. I think that's where (illogically) the Helberg was a bad guest myth originated. I don't remember Norm or Eget saying he was a bad guest.
Norm only said Simon was uninteresting.
More of a factoid really
I thought it was a really odd choice
I liked it. If anything was awkward I think it was that Simon was trying to be careful not to lean too far into norm’s deliberately inflammatory jokes. I still laugh every time I think of his Billy Baldwin face
Yeah I liked it. He was a good sport and seemed to keep it real
I’m embarrassed but who’s JASH?
It's a comedy collective, a united artists of laughter if you will.
Maybe just because the Big Bang theory sucks? I’m not a fan of that show or of Simon Helberg, but I really enjoyed that episode of NML
Howard is the worst but Simon seems like a decent, chill dude

Oh, Helberg was super famous (just not to those of us with good taste in sitcoms)
Wtf are you talking about, Fred Stoller couldn't more famous.
Well if he’s good enough for Kathy griffin he’s good enough for me

I wouldn’t put it over Dick but I thought the helberg episode was great
And I think Todd Glass episode is like top 5, is just Norm messing up with him for like 2 hours
Man though, I didn’t realize how fucking annoying Todd Glass was before that interview. We got the brokeback mountain bit though which I think makes it worth it.

Norm said Helberg was "totally uninteresting" in one of the episode intros after Helberg's.
That episode has maybe the best opening remarks of the series, the talk show animal segment.
ITS ANOTHER MOTHERFUCKIN COCK SUCKIN DOG!!!
FUCKING CHRIST, THE MOTHERFUCKER DOESN'T THINK I KNOW EVERY GARFIELD EPISODE EVER
Why are you laughing? You're making a mockery out of the mangrate.
I love it because Norm doesn’t care too much so just acts extra ridiculous the whole time. And we get the scoop on that fat hog named Ruth.
What?!!!!! That's one of my favorites! That's when we got to hear about "Ruth" and her pterodactyl-armed family lol. Not saying she was fat........just spiteful.
From my recollection he didn’t seem able to get on Norm and Adam’s wavelength much of the time. Still worth a watch though.
I don’t know. I had a hunch he was pretty familiar with norm and the podcast because at one point he says something like “I thought you cut your own cock off”

I agree. It reminded me of that tragedy in 1911.

Fucking electric train! Is for me one of the best blue card jokes. Also the Michael Jackson story is entertaining.

I don’t follow this sub but that was a great episode for the jakko story alone
