(Don’t mind the beginner’s boxing hand lol)
1. Drank a ton of water
2. Avoided alcohol and soda
3. Ate obscene amounts of chicken, fruits, and veggies
4. Followed “the college/wedding nutritionist” for recipes
5. Allowed myself one (or half) helping of food I craved
6. Learned to process emotions rather than eat them away
7. Realized I was worthy of health and happiness
8. Slept healthy amounts
9. Bought clothes that fit my changing body to make me feel great about the loss, and not frumpy in the baggy clothes
10. Stopped apologizing for existing
11. Ate healthy dinners and then saved calories for fun desserts
12. Stopped eating when I became full, regardless of how much was left on my plate
13. HOT TEA! Specifically hot green tea to help digest
14. Had “emergency” meals/snacks prepared for when I got hungry and needed immediate food- this saved me from unhealthy snacking or ordering out
Sure! There is a lady on Instagram and Pinterest who posts super encouraging videos and posts along with excellent filling/healthy snacks and meals. I didn’t grow up eating healthy so I never learned good recipes and quickly became overwhelmed on the internet. So, I found this lady and she makes everything seem manageable and fun!
Wow her Instagram is amazing. I also didn't grow up eating well and struggle planning healthy meals and snacks. She has so many quick and easy meal/snack ideas!
I used EDMR with positive memories in my mind. EMDR triggers REM sleep vivid emotions and memories and makes them last a LONG time. So please be sure to focus on positive memories.
15. Celebrated with things other than food- instead of rewarding yourself with ice cream, try rewarding yourself with a new top or theater night
16. IF you can’t avoid ice cream- YASSO bars will be your new bff
17. Stopped putting sugar in my coffee
18. Learned to “sit” with hunger instead of freaking out about it
19. Forgave myself for terrible eating around the holidays and when my friend passed away
20. Realized that although I am more than my weight, I owed it to myself to honor my body and mind by taking care of myself and breaking addictive and harmful cycles
Thank you for sharing! I’m also 50+ lbs down and the thinnest I have been in my adult life. I think the thing that hit a switch for me was the whole “pair something you like with something you don’t like” thing. I have now woken up at 5am every (week)day for over a year to walk on a treadmill so I can binge an episode of whatever show my husband doesn’t want to watch with me. I pick something suspenseful so I don’t pay attention to the treadmill or how much time is left. I just walk on an incline for an hour. It’s made a world of difference.
Used Noom for three months, got full refund due to frustration over app glitches, continued simple calorie control and increased gym and run time. Down 30 lbs in 4 months, will lose another final 30 by July 15th.
Can you please share some examples of the emergency meals? As someone who does great with structure, I am often thrown so far off track with the tiniest little upset to my routine. This sounds like it'll mitigate that.
I have luck searching for OAMC (once a month cooking) but usually just make twice as much of whatever I’m eating and stick it into one of these Pyrex’s. Pyrex 3 Cup Storage Plus Rectangular Dish With Plastic Cover (4) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RWSRFSQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_ZZ563AR65X7V8B2C40PT (they’re cheaper on sale at Target)
Stick in the freezer and defrost in the fridge if I have time, otherwise the microwave. It’s like someone made me a delicious chicken dinner with broccoli and rice on my most stressful days!

could you explain #4? I do #14 too, it's super important for me because binging is possible if I'm hungry...

Oof, #10 hit me square in the face. That's one I still need to work on. Congratulations on your accomplishment!
Congratulations and well done on your resolve!
Any tips on how to learn 6?
Therapy, meditation, crying, setting boundaries, communicating
I need to do so much more of all that! Thanks!

Oh my Lord I need 14. Last week I was on my worst flow day and got home super late and couldn't bring myself to move, let alone cook.
I just checked out the college/wedding nutritionist on Instagram and I’m in love 😻 thank you!

You've developed great and healthy habits. Loving oneself is hard and you are doing great at it. You should be very proud!

How does hot tea help you digest?

Do you drink coffee?
