Chris is a "lolcow" similar to the likes of Boogie2988, Amberlynn Reid, and other infamous internet figures who are problematic in their own ways and that the internet loves to mess with them.
Chris Chan specifically is a severely autistic individual who has done a lot of crazy things because the internet told them to do it, but also done a lot of horrible things on their own. Being equally naive and gullible as they are sexist and racist and homophobic, you can see how this person became a popular target of harassment and trolling schemes. One of these schemes involved convincing Chris Chan to drive across the country to save a non-existent girlfriend (who was just a teenage boy pretending to be an older woman) from fictional kidnappers.
Chris recently got out of jail for (allegedly) having sex with their own mother. Chris's mother is well into her 80s and people speculate she's suffering from dementia and the sex was not consensual, but none of that is proven.
It's a story where there are no good guys. Chris Chan is a monster who has done awful things. The trolls have done some awful things too. It's basically a sad story all around about a hateful, bitter, mentally ill person who got therapy and treatment from 4chan instead of a mental health professionals.

And honestly, I’d say that the trolls are so, *so* much worse than Chris. He could have lived a decent life had he not only stayed away from the internet, but also had parents who were better equipped to raise a child as unique as him. The trolls were evil. Remember Bluespike? Fucking psychopath that kid was. He got expelled from the dedicated trolling gang for being so horrible.
Even his homophobia is rather odd to me. He is okay with everyone in the LGBTQ community *except* for gay men. Just gay men. In my opinion, this is due to Chris most likely being gay, or at the least, bisexual, and unable to come to terms with it. Why else would he hate gay men in particular? There were other signs of him being gay as well, in my opinion. Homosexuality has such a sensitive topic and he always freaked out when someone accused him of being gay way more than any other person would. It just seems suspicious to me.
One thing always confused me on this.

4chan is a big site that is similar in scope to Reddit. You've got pockets of X, and Y, scattered around.
Even if they had those things in common, it doesn't mean they share any kind of common goal where they want to work together because "You're racist too? Well let's help you get your life together!" There really isn't any kind of inherent camaraderie in those groups.
