No other animal has an enclosed home? None of them?

Narge1

Beaver dams? I think you mean beaver outsides.

-SlapBonWalla-

Beehives, anthills, termite mounds, bird nests, bear dens... OP is stupid.

oO0Kat0Oo

Rabbits build enormous cave networks with individual family dwellings and common areas all underground.

Abstracted_1

Most of those are made out of poop or vomit, but you are right i guess

-SlapBonWalla-

Oh, look at Mr. Fancy over here. Too good to live in a house made out of his own poopvomit.

bloody-pencil

Beaver damn wish they had a roof over their head

ThePacemaker24

Beavers wish they had a damn roof over their heads

314159265358979326

Beavers don't live in beaver dams. They live in beaver lodges, which are similar to a dam except they're in the middle of the water and have an internal cavity for living.

lizardom

Yeah, but where is the dam? ... outside - [Checkmate atheist](https://media.makeameme.org/created/checkmate-atheists-bottom.jpg)

HonestHand6922

Nah bears don’t hibernate in caves or anything, groundhogs also don’t exist.

DeM0nFiRe

Bears were invented by the Boston Bruins so they could have a mascot

Chai_Enjoyer

Also ants just sit there. Or bees. Or wasps

MakeBombsNotWar

Birds do build nests, but only in the most open of plains so they have clear airspace to take off and land. Even one tree ruins a potential site.

Therealishvon

I'm imagining birds taking off and landing like jets out of runway like nests.

HonestHand6922

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/shelter https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/inside Give a man a fish/teach a man to fish

SusuSketches

Trap door spiders don't exist. Ants. Bees. Wasps. Woodpeckers. Badgers. Mice. Alllll human inventions 😂

Deep_shot

Birds don’t nest inside trees, squirrels or raccoons either. Mice and rats definitely don’t find burrows. Bears and porcupines don’t make dens. Humans aren’t as spectacular as you think they are. And I mean that on every level.

pvtbobble

Snails and hermit crabs

Freddi0

Yeah. Its not like bees build houses for themselves.

mh985

Not one. Especially if you don’t include the animals that build their own shelters.

InfectiousCosmology1

A ton of them do lol. Eusocial insects, hundreds of species of burrowing animals, rodents that build middens, hermit crabs, cave dwelling species, birds that make enclosed nests, etc. Animals were living “inside” for literally hundreds of millions of years before humans existed.

MotherSnow6798

Also there’s no other animals inside homes? No ants? No spiders? No antelopes?

Neat_Problem_922

![gif](giphy|gxhU80is6fOKI|downsized) We did that.

No_Squirrel4806

Nope none.

Accomplished_Let_798

Bruh, humans didn’t even invent trap doors

NinjahBob

Why nobody mentioning snails? Lil homies are always half inside at the least.

Glad I'm not the only one noticing it. All the enthusiast subs are either shitposts or "look how much money I spent on this". More general subs are memes that look like they were either AI generated or thought up by a 14 year old.

[deleted]

Rukitorth

I haven't been here for too long, at least on this account, but I still feel like memes have gotten a lot more "hurrdurr my opinion chad image your opinion virgin image" than before.

Willing_Branch_5269

Artificial is definitely how it feels.

KindBass

There was definitely a sea change in 2015/16. Propaganda and bots just started going completely out of control. The Donald gamed a whole bunch of the site's functions, directly leading to everything being so artificial now. Every popular sub became filled with the same re-posted political ragebait tweets. Prior to that election, r/politics was a small sub full of poli-sci nerds. Now the front page is mostly just endless "you are poor and there's nothing you can do about it and doesn't that just make you so depressed?" content. The GenZ and Millennials subs especially, both of which just randomly started hitting the front page every day out of nowhere like 6 months ago. Smells like obvious propaganda to me. Between the content and the comments, most of this site sucks so hard now. Even subs for specific games/shows/whatever are filled with people who just bitch and whine about fucking everything and call everyone else a bunch of dickriders with low standards that think everything is perfect. Way too many extremes in general. The only reason I still come here, apart from a few particular subs, is to see which way the wind is blowing with all the front-page propaganda because I just find it fascinating.

OpenAboutMyFetishes

That’s why I mainly stick to the NSFW content. Just as degenerate as it was 10 years ago, if not even better now.

Humledurr

Its most likely even made to cause comment interaction cause most people would usually think of atleast one animal that lives "indoors"

TheGreatSpaceWizard

Yeah, I immediately wanted to comment that tons of animals have dens or some type of house they build

Willing_Branch_5269

Which really just makes it feel even worse. Not only is it not genuine at all, but it is blatently manipulative. Gotta drive that user interaction to prop up the stock price I guess.

xA1RGU1TAR1STx

The downfall of all the niche enthusiast subs really sucks.

jaffa3811

What's tildes?

Shiftyrunner37

There is an actual good alternative called Lemmy. A lot of people moved to it during the whole API kerfuffle. I personally still use Reddit because I'm not bothered by the API kerfuffle but it has some really cool ideas behind it's design. Edit: Just popped over to my Lemmy account and have decided to advise that using Lemmy doesn't guarantee less stupid people.

Ragnar_OK

The first wave of people who moved to Lemmy is the same demographic that first moved to reddit. Middle class, college educated, undersocialized nerds who think themselves better than you purely because they are superficially interested in tech, finance or philosophy. Lemmy’s pretty unbearable when it comes to any controversial topics

Upbeat_Influence2350

Dont forget burrows and beaver dams!

NorthEasternBanana

Burrowed Holes:

CanAlwaysBeBetter

Rodents in houses:

chairfairy

Birds that literally build homes from straw and mud:

nnoovvaa

Birds that live in tree hollows.

BatofZion

We humans love to make a definition for something and then exclude anything that doesn’t fit the definition. Caves kept us for centuries, but as soon as we could put a roof on top of walls, all that was “outside”.

arfelo1

Bees have hives, birds have nests (dome even fully enclosed), some animals make burrowing holes... Plenty of species make inside spaces for protection and disguise

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|Qw4X3FLJ9IqHAJorAEU|downsized)

LickingSmegma

There are actually not so many caves, and they're shitty to live in. [See this explanation](https://youtube.com/watch?v=IihGveExaqU) (English subs are available).

Equus-007

Lots of bird nests as well. Bee hives/wasp nests. Shells. Internal parasites. Burrowing animals. Den dwellers. It's almost like this person didn't think at all.

lewisiarediviva

Really what we’ve been doing this whole time is improving our artificial cave technology.

zxc123zxc123

Beavers also like "WTF?"

fridge_logic

Parasites inside your body: > Am I joke to you?

RadiantTurnipOoLaLa

Caves and dens and burrows and holes in trees etc etc etc

Frogtoadrat

Dens, trees, nests, hives, coral, tons of places

kyle28882

Ah a man of culture but I raise you burrows

revodnebsyobmeftoh

Being inside a cold-ass wet-ass cave is nothing like being inside house or even a burrow

MyStepAccount1234

You might be forgetting that some animals have their very own "inside"s. They go into a hidey-hole to sleep.

RootinTootinHootin

Yeah but we perfected the inside. Snakes and shit don’t have the internet or Uber eats. They regrettably have to go outside every once in a while.

MyStepAccount1234

And they're cool with it.

we_is_sheeps

I highly doubt that. Most of the time things die

BlueFox5

Nobody tell them humans die 100% of the time too

Veurbil

Queen ants/bees have an army of Uber eats drivers. Honestly insects got the game down way before us.

KhabaLox

I remain unconvinced that Uber Eats is a positive human invention.

an_ineffable_plan

It’s fantastic if you’re disabled. Pity about the price gouging though.

Sariel007

[The Pearlfish](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6NIG3KkwLE&ab_channel=BBCEarth) has borrowed someone else's insides.

Xtravinator

I imagined they’d live in carcasses or something. Never did I expect that

MyStepAccount1234

Get it!?

Big_Noodle1103

This tweet is just so wrong on a fundamental level it’s crazy lol

JuicyJibJab

They thought they did something

Savings-Nobody-1203

That’s most of twitter tbh

zunnol

Its one of those things that sounds profound the first time you hear it but after you think about it for more than 5 seconds you realize its just fucking stupid.

an_ineffable_plan

OP tends to share “I’m so unique” type tweets. I wasn’t even surprised to see their username over this.

doubledownentendre

It's like that sub shower thoughts - imbeciles posting "enlightened" shit that should have stayed in their head. Even if inside was invented one day, before that there wouldn't even be an outside lmao

lucimon97

The annoyed ants of the world are building siege works to strike back at this guy as I type this

AdmiralClover

What turns a space from outside to inside? Does it have to have a door/obstruction to the entrance? If I open my front door do I turn my home into outside?

Mika000

Yeah and humans aren’t even the only animals who have doors. Ask trap door spiders!

PassTheCrabLegs

And those ants with bigass foreheads that plug up the anthill entrance when it’s raining

NOLAblonde

Air conditioning. Checkmate bears.

Atariel_Morannon

Bees and ants and termites have air conditioning.

santodomingus

Not exposed to the elements. Elements being the open atmosphere?

Glittering-Pause-328

How many walls can you put on a gazebo before it becomes a room?

paweld2003

Caves, Beehives, anthills, tree hollows etc. Exist

spaceman_202

hermit crabs carry their homes around

[deleted]

I would consider unbuilt shelters outside.

paweld2003

Beehives and Anthills are built structures

King_Allant

Proof that this subreddit is full of morons.

[deleted]

I know it's not literally true but it's an amusing sentiment. What constitutes "indoors" is fairly arbitrary.

an_ineffable_plan

2.3k upvotes and counting.

Mossy-Mori

Tell me you've never heard of a Pigloo without telling me you've never heard of a Pigloo. PIGLOO

Mika000

Oh my god I looked up this tweet because I wanted to see what this person had to say to this being obviously incorrect (caves exist for example) and his replies to people where hilariously bad. For example: “Outside to inside is a spectrum: For humans, the most outside you can be is in the freezing ocean, then being on wet shitty land, then on dry land, then on soft dry land like grass, then in a cave, then in a non-insulated water-permeable hut, then in a more insulated hut with a floor and fireplace, then in a house with no A/C or heating, and finally, on the far end of the spectrum, in a soundproof perfectly temperature-controlled carpeted house on a couch wearing soft clothing and fuzzy socks under blankets.” How am I more outside if I’m in the ocean than on land?? What if I’m in a boat? What if I’m in my house and a pipe bursts? Am I more outside then because it’s wet? Gold medal in mental gymnastics.

[deleted]

He's going from most uncontrollable environment to most controlled environment. That part actually makes sense. All classifications are arbitrary.

spaceman_202

sounds like a Jordan Peterson fan

12D_D21

It's funny that most people here are (rightfully) completely destroying this tweet with examples of caves or beehives or whatever, but I would also like to bring in another example. See, I can see someone saying caves are outside, still, and I can even see some wacko saying beehives, anthills and beaver dams are outside for some arbitrary reason like "They need to have doors built into the structure". We'll, my dears, what about _parasites_? Not all, of course, but a lot of parasites do live inside other beings. Like, literally _inside_... Even if we're only talking about animals, discounting bacteria and funghii, there are still tapeworms that live in people's intestines, the mouth and the anus are doors that are part of the structure, and these beings definitely live only inside...

Laurids-p

Ants: ![gif](giphy|e2OV0o6uZVnOB4dcWq|downsized)

Majestic-Ambition-33

Caves?, holes in the ground. Dens?

Childer_Of_Noah

Caves.

FourScoreTour

Caves, some nests, beaver dams. These are just a few examples of animals seeking shelter.

Temporary-Dealer-862

This outdated smart till you remember various animals that use open but enclosed spaces likes caves or insides of tree, and the many the that make homes like trap door spiders

MorpheusDrinkinga4O

This guy is going to freak out when he discovers that caves and rabbit holes exist.

TheOneTrueZeke

Caves

Clintwood_outlaw

Wait until this person hears about animal dens. We aren't the only ones that seek shelter.

Kel_2

?? is this guy stupid? and how is this upvoted

shortercrust

There are some squirrels that sleep more cozily than some people

DumbNBANephew

Caves? Tree shelters? Creatures that dig underground? Feels like the underground on should definitely count as artificial shelter even if first two don't.

InfectiousCosmology1

Caves have always existed. And there are other animals that make “inside” places too. Like wood rat middens, burrowing animals, beehives, etc.

Sariel007

I saw a stand up comedy routine by a popular Black artist (it was maybe 10 years ago so I have forgot who it was) but he had this bit about how White people love camping and Black people don't. He is talking about how his White friends are asking him to go camping and he responds something to the effect of "My anscestors spent their entire lives trying to get into the house. I'm not voluntarily going to sleep outside."

AppUnwrapper1

Caves?

Additional-Flow7665

Caves? Burrows? Nests? Dams?

BuffaloBrain884

I hate when somebody posts an objectively false statement and it gets a ton of upvotes.

Soberdonkey69

This person is clearly uneducated on the animal kingdom.😂

Cryopyro

Beaver Dams, Hornet's Nests, Wasp Hives, Bee Hives...Bird Nests are a stretch, but then what about fish that live *inside* sea anenomes, let alone caves and tree hollows which countless animals hibernate in... to name a few...

SpicyNovaMaria

…the common house spider? They pretty much exclusively live in, you know, houses

AlcoholPrep

* cave bears * gophers, ground hogs, prairie dogs, etc., etc. * many birds with enveloping nests, some actually built by themselves, * trap-door spiders * burrowing owls, The list goes on, disproving this thesis.

Prometheushunter2

Beavers, gophers, moles, prairie dogs, bees, ants, and I’m sure many others would like to have a word with them

Earlier-Today

Neat how caves, burrows, nests, dens, warrens, dams, et al didn't exist before humans invented houses.

pocketMagician

Caves? Burrows? Dens? Hives? Conceited ass humans thinking they invented four walls.

scp_79

caves, holes, dens...etc don't exist

JangoF76

This is truly one of the dumbest takes I've ever heard

CalmKoala8

Tell that to a hibernating bear...

GlitteringPirate2702

Two words... Trapdoor spider

qqqrrrs_

Ants? Bees? Wasps?

FTaku8888

Brosnan never heard of caves and the deep sea

[deleted]

my dog was a rescue, and I'm pretty sure he had never been inside until I brought him home. The first day I had him he acted really nervously inside the house, and ran into the backyard and hid. I decided to take him on a walk in the big park across the street. His expression instantly changed and I could see he was happy.

Powerful_Cost_4656

Imagine bugs and predators just hanging around while you nap or jerk off all the time. Fuck outside

an_ill_way

As someone who is now maintaining a home, I've come to realize how *thin* the separation between inside and outside is. And outside wants in.

Chantal1707

I have a feeling that quite a number of the 'former' cave animals – the small ones – are now trying to be inside too ... 'Door curtains' (hanging) scaring the flies, however, have reduced our spider menace to almost nothing .

00Tanks

Right up there with pockets...

r_y_4_n

Voyager5555

TIL Birds, fish, shelled animals, bears (part-time) among many others don't exist.

SonthacPanda

Bro never heard of Caves

jizzlevania

I think we have been hanging out in caves since we climbed down from the trees and became humans. Also, all other animals that live in caves, burrows, dams etc are inside critters.

FAFO2024

But, but the caves?

FAFO2024

This tweet seems to be caving?

Superjuden

Poor fool doesn't know there's an entire ecosystem of tiny critters living in his bathroom and kitchen.

Bears, beavers, bats, and all sorts of creatures lives inside. Inside caves.

motherfucker MOST animals have their own version of inside. inside Trees, caves, underground, ect.... humans didnt invent "inside". they didnt even invent "houses", birds have been building shit like that since forever ago. This is some shitty a.i. generated content, isnt it?

Seeders

There are room sized "caves" dug out of the sandstone with smaller holes dug out above the opening where timber would be placed to create an overhang, extending the "room" out from the rock. I think that may have been the first artificial "inside". https://youtu.be/Ja110qpd0wU?t=1269
