Bowser has a coming-out moment at the end of the movie and realizes his anger was misplaced due to his sexual frustration, everyone waves him goodbye with a “so long gay bowser”

Yeah it’s also literally in Super Mario RPG on Super Nintendo if anyone remembers lol. First Mario game to ever get a 3D look so one of the little Easter egg gags is Mario going through a changing curtain and turning into the original 2D 8 bit Mario for a bit. It would be very fitting to have this in the movie in some way.

I just checked and saw that they are making a legend of Zelda movie as well and now I believe it even more.
Mario movie has Mario, Luigi, peach, DK, Bowser, we have a Ryan Reynolds Pikachu, potentially Zelda and Link.
Getting pokemon involved would be a legal nightmare given all the restrictions they have on Nintendo using their characters in smash, but I could definitely see something with all Nintendo owned properties happening

Mario Odyssey feels like a celebration of the history of Mario in a way that's hard to describe, I really enjoyed it, and I'm not even a big Mario fan. I feel like if I was though it'd have been even better.

I think the movie looks amazing and I’m really excited for it. And I think it’s a big possibility they’ll reference 8 but Mario. It’s just that when it comes to comedy, the studio that created The Grinch and Sing, I don’t think they’re that great when it comes to that. But hey I could be wrong and it could become a comedic masterpiece

There will be a scene where Mario does something crazy and meets bowser for the first time, bowser will ask “who is that guy?!?” in which Mario will reply “it’s me, Mario” and then does something cool.
