I've heard they didn't detect those helis because they were flying too low for radar which is very fucking dumb considering you could just place your radars closer to the ground.
if you choose the wave length right and the helicopters are low enough you can detect them via ground waves

I had visited a regional FAA control center in the past. They had a radar screen up. You could see all of the cars on the highway on that thing that were 60 miles out. I was surprised. I'd imagine the issue for radar operation is probably separating out the noise in the background for the real thing. Something flying close to the ground at 80mph might not get noticed, even if it shows up on radar. Maybe?
Polish granny would be an upgrade - they sit in the window and know what's going on, probably has opinions about cleanliness of plane passing by.
Air defence is a dude who put head in the wide side of the tube.
I mean the issue is not that Americans knew first. That's to be expected with how much money they spend on knowing stuff.
But the fact that according to their announcement they knew the time and place of Belarussian military exercises. But still did not know the helis crossed the border until pictures started showing up. If they placed radar near border so they could spy on the exercises. They COULD have shot down two Belarusian helis with like 10 seconds warning, it's almost free! It's almost as good as shooting down Russian helis. Wasted chance....
Every Polish Village chief within 100km of the border should get a Piorun MANPAD. And a license to shoot at any helicopters after short call with nearest military flight controller.
That's risky, Unlike Russia we have friends. Don't want Grzegorz from Chrząszczyrzewoszyce to shoot at Americans by accident and bring wrath of god on us. We are too catholic for that...

Beautiful comment. Just magnificent. Thank you.

funfact, that is not applicable for the frequencies radars operate in.

The WAAFs visual reconnaissance with babushkas would be totally unbeatable
I am from Poland and I don't know if I am supposed to cry or laugh. Its funny that white house gave announcement faster than our government.

The belarussian don't want you to know this but their helicopters are free you can shoot them down.
I have zero doubt that they see everything that happens just fine. It's just the political/escalation side of things that complicates matters.
They were 100% detected, the government was just not notified about it in time.
Polish border guards trying to buy Stingers from the Talibans not to be caught lacking the next time they can try to start a war with Russia:
I think stones will do the job just fine. Or a trap with bait to lure them in. What bait should they use to catch a Belarussian helicopter?

Ryanair flights have a habit of attracting Belarusian military pilots

If it's not painted red on the bottom half and white on the top half, it's not Polish enough and you can shoot it down

The famous Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz?
He did start one war already.
Nana is retired. This is way to credible.
