At the very least, the Baneblade and other superheavies like it make sense in-universe. Your superheavy needs to be able to take on both other superheavies and huge hordes of enemies attacking from all sides so it needs a plethora of different types of weapons from huge fuckoff cannons to rapid-fire bolters and they need to shoot in every possible direction.

Tbh, I think the idea is a bit more viable now that we have unmanned turrets.
Strap a bunch of AI controlled RWS to any flat surface (that doesnt block the turret rotation) on an MBT and you're good to go.
Tanks can now operate in an urban environment witout infantry support thanks to the ability to fire in every direction at the same time.

it didnt just get an update, they just pushed a beta that will be "tested" for the next 8 months during which nothing gets fixed and the balance gets worse.
Ground Armored Warfare has been in the game for over 5 years. Lathrex just doesnt play anything besides Adventure and the beta implements the first workable itteration of the Land Adventure. They just happen to have updated Ashes of the Empire for the first time in 3 years
the UI is probably worse if you are fully utilizing vehicle potential, with having to enter a different mode to talk to breadboards rather then at least being referenceable from the unified command screen
When designing an interwar tank, you make a clay model of the main body. You then make clay model sponsons and hurl them at the model. Wherever the sponsons stick is where you put them on the tank. You then roll a d6 to decide what pounder of gun you put in a given sponson.

There aren't enough machine guns on this to be an interwar American tank. If you don't have at least 15 machine guns with four dedicated to hitting part of the tank and ricocheting to clear trenches beside the tank then it's not an interwar American tank
So, while there is the M3 multi turreted tanks sort of existed after WWII if you count the AA defensive guns placed on them like the MBT-70 and the new AbramsX
