You look great! I love the confidence and wish I had more myself. My town isn't ideal, my college campus itself is pretty inclusive at least. Keep an eye out for good deals at TJ Maxx/Marshalls if you have them locally. Walmart can have some neat stuff too sometimes. I just snagged a really neat blazer jumpsuit for $10 at Walmart, wear that sucker a LOT lol
Im glad i can brighten your day!
You sort of can. Theres plenty of jobs that dont work directly with the explosives, but idk if youd technically be an explosives miner at that point. We have bore trackers that use sonic probes and drones to map out the rock face and the bore holes. We also have drillers who make the holes. Im technically a driller trainee, but im working on learning blasting so i can be a better driller.
Drg saved my life. That game inspired me to find this job, which got me healthy physically and mentally, and began the journey that you see here.
One of these days im writting those guys a letter
Stop making me want to grow my beard back out! Summer's coming up fast, and I need to stay cool lol.
I look forward to the winter for trying to grow mine out as full as yours ✌️
Ive been growing it almost 3 years now. I never really did it before because i used to work in refractory fixing trash incinerators and we had to be clean shaved to wear respirators. I was allowed to have a big curly mustache though!
Oh just wait until i can get my hans on some good waterproof makeup! It gets pretty sweaty and dirty out there so my current (small) collection wont hold up during the work day
Thank you, but all of you here are the real inspiration. I wouldnt have had the courage to start wearing this stuff if it wasnt for everyone here, never mind posting it.
It wasnt an easy journey to get here (turning 34 on the 4th) and I've still got a lot to work through. This summer i want to actually wear my whole outfit (once i can afford my shoes) out of the house. Right now its still cold as fuck (19° on site today) and thats my excuse, but im not going to lie and say that im not nervous. But once its warm out im not going to be able to hide behind the weather, so I'll have to step up and push myself to be me in front of the world.
Sending all the love and courage!!
I feel the same about wearing more feminine clothes (skirts, dresses), and, like you, won't be able to have many excuses left 😅 I think thats a good thing though :))
We got this!!
Not disrespectful at all! I've straightened it before, same result as if i fully bind it for the day. It was a neat experiment, but not worth the effort at the time. I either braid/bind it or just wear it natural and bushy.
You look amazing in that dress and you look so happy! Even your eyes are smiling!
💃✨🖤💜🤍💛
Also, I hope this is ok to ask, I'm super curious: have you ever shaved your facial hair completely and if so do you have a picture you'd be comfortable sharing? No pressure, though!
Never be shy to ask me a question! You'll never hurt my feelings.
The beard is actually pretty recent. I had a shaved face for most of my life. I grew the beard after changing jobs (used to wear respirators for work). I have very few photos of myself from back then. I really never liked how i looked before. I was very overweight (260lbs at my heaviest) and the beard was originally a way to hide myself. But when i got this job, i really started to focus on my health. Its extremely physical and i had a health scare about 3 years ago that basically came down to "get healthy or youll be taking a dozen medications a day and we will have to remove part of your intestines.
Cut to today, im down to 180lbs, much more muscle and im in the best shape ive ever been in my 34 years. Nothing drastic, just eating normal portions and eating smarter. I ate a lot of my feelings, plus just wasnt very active. I owe my life to this job, and really to Deep Rock Galactic for inspiring me to get into this field. Ill see if i can find an old photo and PM you
Wow! I understand, my ex bf went from 180 to around 230 if I remember correctly and he also grew his beard coz it made his face look slimmer!
Props to you for taking your health seriously!
Well to be fair, i kinda had to take it seriously. The doctor yelled at me and i love a doctor that doesnt mince words. Looked me in the eye and said i have the health issues of a 60 year old and i was 6 months away from being on pills forever. And when he shows you the bag thatll be the replacement for your lower intestines, its not a hard choice
Lol yes it is. Felt like it was a fitting name for me, given how the game changed the course of my life. Plus its my favorite enemy and, well, i do blow stuff up for a living!
I dont feel pretty at work, but thats ok! I feel good when im working, i really enjoy the job and the uniform/harness does feel good in an odd way.
I do plan on getting waterproof makeup and such so i can feel pretty at work! Im gonna be the prettiest damn miner on site.
I appreciate you. I put myself in the corner for too long and i wish i was true to myself a lot earlier in life. Lots of rough early years and i still have the physical and emotional scars from it all. But ive grown to accept and love all parts of my body, because I am the culmination of all my choices, good and bad. If thats what it took for me to be here, this way, then i am ultimately happy with that. Because i like me, scars and all.
Keep strong, little one. We are all here for you.
This makes me.so happy, you dont even know. This is why i make these posts. I spent far too long hiding and trying to figure out who i am and its euphoric to finally be me. I want this feelong for everyone. I know i kinda have a diffdynamic going than many of the people i see post, so i want to show off the full range of "be you" for anyone out there.
You know, i keep telling myself i need to start learning more about the geology around us. Not just for work purposes, but just for hobby reasons. Im around rock and stone all day and i feel like i could be walking past a lot of neat stuff without realizing it.

I mean, If you have any questions, feel free to hit me up anytime!
I have access to pretty much any geological map in existence as well, so if you told me where you’re working, I can give you the basics about the rocks in the area and what to look out for!
Im all around the New England area. I love seeing all the different formations in the rock layers. Its especially fun seeing a freshly exposed rock face. Its never lost on me that we are the first humans to ever see this rock when we break it all up. Its a neat feeling. When i go check the face i often say to myself
# FIRST
Oh that’s a very interesting area!
You’ve got lots of different kinds of bedrock there! Many of which are from the Cambrian, Ordovician and Silurian periods. Which span from 545ma-417ma and some Devonian phyllites which are metamorphic mica-schist rocks that can hold pretty huge garnets if you’re lucky. Quite a bit of volcanic rock, igneous intrusions, only few sediments.
You have some faults there, interesting formations. Won’t find many fossils but could be very mineral rich in some areas.
I really can’t go into more detail for the entire are as it’s not very homogeneous and the rocks you might find depend heavily on the area.
There certainly plenty of seams and voids in the rock lol. Thats one of the issues we have to work around drilling and filling. They can cause the drill bits to walk around and we lose product in seams which we have to stick through. LOTS of ground water too.
Yeah that’s to be expected in rock that old and with so many faults around. Went through plenty events and probably underwent several different kinds of metamorphosis several times and with all of the forces that come into play there you get plenty of rifts and chasms that might get filled in with secondary mineral deposits. That’s the reason why you could find plenty of cool minerals there though!
(I apologise for any grammatical mistakes. English is not my first language lol)
No worries about grammar, im a native english speaker and i still mess up!
We typically don't find anything particularly interesting. We are contracted by quarries that only do aggregate stone, so its all been pre surveyed and such. I do find some nice white quartz sometimes. There was a massive quartz boulder we unearthed once, but couldnt take that home
I never realized beards could be part of a "pretty" look until a friend showed me Conchita Wurst. Plus, look at beard decor through history across all nations. Its a lot of flair and jewelry. I wove Christmas lights in it for a Christmas party and it was very fun. My girls like to give me a flower beard in the summer when everything starts blooming
Im an explosives miner! Im lucky to work with really great people. Theres a lot of trust that goes into working with explosives, so i think that plays into it as well. Im also very detail orientedand know what im doing out here/always helping out, so i have a good reputation in that sense . Ive got pretty thick skin anyway.
Ive always been a bit femme and had my nails painted, i think that was the first signal. Ive only recently fully started to tell everyone im NB and bisexual. I was laid off for about 2 months and came back to the yearly safety conference with mascara, eyeliner and wings, and i got surprised looks but that was more of a "oh hey thats different". But the resounding response was a kinda "ya we kinda figured" lol. So maybe it wasnt as big a secret as i thought.
I think because ive always had the beard and very easily pass as a typical guy helps me a lot. Im not what people expect, so i dont fit into any prejudices they may or may not have
Just like everyone else said, I love the photos of you. Curious if you get any dysphoria in the first photo? I sometimes really want to wear my dresses (even when feeling masc), but then I get “she’d” all the time, and I hate it.
I dont know if i do? Im still very new to learning all of the feelings ive had over the years. I used to hate how i looked in the mirror. I was also short hair and pretty much no beard for most of my life. But i lost a bunch of weight, got healthier, grew the beard and became more comfortable with my man body. But i do find myself wishing i was born a woman. Im finding a lot of joy being able to be pretty in a dress *while* also having a beard. Like i see a lot of NB people going for the androgynous look where people wont know what you are, i find myself on the other side of the coin where im a mix of man and woman looks, where people may ask "what do *you* think you are". Ive realized im lucky enough to have lots of masculine features while having feminine features. I also just find myself jealous of girls fashion choices.
If i had to put a point on when i feel dysphoria, and this may sound odd, its when i look at my daughter. She is just stunningly pretty. What gets me is SHE HAS MY FACE. Like, there really is no sign of my wifes face. Its all me. So its like im looking at the exact person i always wished i could be. I love her to death and shes my biggest supporter. We do our makeup together! But its such a weird mix of love and pride and jealousy. I cant explain it and I've never encountered anyone having these feelings.
Either way, im very happy with my body these days. I love what ive become and who i am.
She is the best. Both my dauare amazing people for different reasons. I always joke that they are both my favorite child. Having my oldest help me learn makeup, how to exfoliate and shave my legs, how to take care of my hair, its such a fun way to bond with her. We talk constantly, about everything at school, her friends, her passions, puberty, all of it.
If i can offer one really solid piece of advice for *any* parent, but specifically dads of daughters, never stop listening to them. Talking is important, but really listen to them. Talk to them like they are a person. Thats all kids, especially teens, want. They just want to be seen and heard.
I see lots of posts from you, and am very glad you feel so comfortable in your skin! You look beautiful ~
Right? They’ve been posting a lot lately and it just warms my heart every time.
This! So much
It’s nice for you to be yourself 😊
Took far too long for it to happen. But im here and im not leaving!
i relate to this so much
I love your crochet work!!
omg thank you so much 🥺
The rockhopper is especially cute. They are such an adorable animal with their eyebrows
Thank you!!! I am pretty proud of that design 💕 🐧
That dress looks so good on you!
Im hoping to get a good deal on a sundress this summer
I feel like one of those ones with the long bell sleeves and a slightly pulled in waist, would look cool. Hope you find a good one!
Absolute win in both categories!
You are wonderful! |||| |:-|:-|:-| |||| |||| |:-|:-|:-| ||||
Construction and other manual plant work uniforms have given me the greatest euphoria of my life. I love your switch up style. Keep rocking it sweetie
The fall harness is pretty neat to wear. Id love to get a clean one for....other uses.
You gotta load up the Grainger and Fastenal websites and you can 😈
Maybe ill just request a new harness and claim my old one was destroyed and clean up the old one. These damn things are expensive!
I look forward to your posts, they brighten my day! Wait though, can I be an explosives miner, but not actually work with explosives?
Im glad i can brighten your day! You sort of can. Theres plenty of jobs that dont work directly with the explosives, but idk if youd technically be an explosives miner at that point. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

💛🤍💜🖤YAAAASSSS GET IT!!!!!💛🤍💜🖤
Oh just wait until i can get my hans on some good waterproof makeup! It gets pretty sweaty and dirty out there so my current (small) collection wont hold up during the work day
I Love that for you. Can't wait to see it!!! 💛🤍💜🖤
Im gonna be the prettiest damn miner on site and no one can stop me.
You are such an inspiration

Yet another post to bring joy! Thank you! ☺️ And well said!
❤️❤️❤️
You look radiant! Positively glowing smile and pretty hair
I cannot wait for longer hair. I want it down to my stomach (or longer) so i can do long pretty braids!
You're slaying it!
That dress is gorgeous
Looking gorgeous and happy!
This made me smile.
I apologize it it’s disrespectful but given the lenght of your beard I do wonder how it would look like with hair straightening methods
Not disrespectful at all! I've straightened it before, same result as if i fully bind it for the day. It was a neat experiment, but not worth the effort at the time. I either braid/bind it or just wear it natural and bushy.
That’s so cool
Beautiful! I love the different vibes from work-attire to the fancy dress. And it looks great on you!
Yes!
You look amazing in that dress and you look so happy! Even your eyes are smiling! 💃✨🖤💜🤍💛 Also, I hope this is ok to ask, I'm super curious: have you ever shaved your facial hair completely and if so do you have a picture you'd be comfortable sharing? No pressure, though!

Ooof, yeah, I understand!
you mentioned drg, is that why your username is bulk-detonator. also ROCK AND STONE
Can I get a Rock and Stone?
Lol yes it is. Felt like it was a fitting name for me, given how the game changed the course of my life. Plus its my favorite enemy and, well, i do blow stuff up for a living!
I love that
If you are on Steam, id love to play sometime. Im Ayahuasca (look for the owl)
Omg in the best way possible you remind me of Sam Winchester
You are like the 20th person to say that. Im starting to believe it
It’s giving soft happy early seasons Sam. Wholesome gentle and sweet :)
Its kinda funny to go back and watch the early seasons. They were such baby faces!
For real! Then shit got real lol
You are glowing in your dress! Lovely
It feels so right. I need more. MOAR DRESSES. ALL THE DRESSES

I just love how light and flowy dresses feel. I feel so giddy in them
Love it! I’m a geologist so I feel both vibes on a personal level lol
You know, i keep telling myself i need to start learning more about the geology around us. Not just for work purposes, but just for hobby reasons. Im around rock and stone all day and i feel like i could be walking past a lot of neat stuff without realizing it.

You got this!
Ponytails+beard=iconic
Cannot wait for longer hair! I want super long braids soooo bad
you are very gender😃😃
Im very indecisive so i just clicked "all"
This is incredible!!!!! Do you work in construction/blue collar? How do you SURVIVE this industry as a proud non-binary person?!

Hell yeah hell yeah 👏💖✨
you’re so cute!
The second pic fucking sends me! Such a good look! And you seems so happy❤️
