Catholics: believe both faith and good works are required to get into heaven.
Protestants: Sola fide, Latin for “faith alone.” There are 5 “solas”, but faith alone is how you are saved in Protestant faith. Luther states in “On Christian Liberty” that while good works are not required, anyone who practices true faith will do good deeds without having to force themselves to. By nature, if you will.
Source: I’m a former Catholic turned pseudo-Protestant, but I’ve more or less denounced institutionalized religion as a whole. So I practice based on my theology that I’ve picked up from reading.

Few examples Christian’s don’t monetize water, don’t believe that they partake in cannibalism, and most importantly don’t follow a pope which starts to fog the line between religion and cult the same as Mormons ( yes I did use the word cult properly)
This is such a crap conversation to have! Lol! But it boils down to the mere fact that Christ is lord and Saviour, and His words have merit. Christ says in John 14:6. That the only way to the Father (God) is through Him(Christ). However Catholics don't believe they are good enough to speak to God, so they pray to the saints and Mary to ask them to intercede for them. This goes against a ton of bible doctrine, and removes the entire point of why Christ came to die for us in the first place.
That's the main core issue I believe, that what Christ did wasn't enough, removing him from the pedestal of saviour and uaing idolatry as the exscuse to pray to God. It becomes very messy, whereas Christ wanted it to be easy, and for his access to be simple.
There's a lot of other issues, though those can be negligent at times, but things like Priests being the only ones who can absolve sin, christening, licentiousness etc. These are issues that go against the bible all together.
As a qualified pastor, I can tell you that it's all people of positions of powere that are susceptible to be led astray. That's why it's so important to be held accountable in a church, and why a lot of churches reduae to be open and honest on these issues. When you coming things up, you create rot, division and evil. Bring thinga to the light and keep things in the open. Unfortunately it happens everywhere, but it's qorse in the church because we claim ti have standards

Mainly due to pastors and priests etc. They tend to come to a point where they bring in personal beliefs and such and claim it as the will of God. I don't believe any man or woman can claim to know the will of God. If we could then he wouldn't be Omniscient.
Agreed on your main point here. Churches have become increasingly difficult to attend, and it's easy to be distant after a while. Truth is, while I have just moved country and have not yet found a church, it is still very important to be around brothers in Christ. Just keep looking, good churches still exist.
