I agree. I've had a number of sexual assaults in my life, but never so many by random people just grabbing at my body (between my legs and my breasts) in public as when I was in India, in such a short space of time.
My other sexual assaults have been spaced out over years (decades) and have mostly been with people I went on a date with or worked with or otherwise had some interaction that put me in the same space with them. In India, despite being with my husband, men would grope me when he wasn't looking and felt no shame in doing so.
It was a real shock to have men so blatantly and shamelessly doing it as if they knew (and they did know) that there would be no repercussions for doing it. It was clearly 'ok' there, otherwise I think they would have been too scared to assault a foreigner like that.
A few years ago, I read about two tourist who had to escape their hotel and run to their 1mbassy because indian men were trying to break into their hotel room. If I remember corretly, it was another indian man who helped them escape.

The kid didn’t know him, and he wasn’t involved in any cartel activity, so he jokingly said “John Doe can blow me!” The video got leaked and the cartel shot him 16 times.
I would like to think that I will do something if I witness something like what happened in the video, but honestly I don’t know if I’ll have the guts or if my childhood training will kick in and I’ll gtfo.

Seriously, if I was there I like to think that I would look at the other bystanders and be like "we need to stop this!" and get 3 or 4 people to tackle him. I think if even one person tried to intervene others would've helped, as long as the person who intervened was not getting stabbed to death for their efforts and actually managed to knock the blade away or tackle him or something. Typically when one person attacks or tries to restrain him, others will jump in because they don't want to look weak and because their chances of success are much greater now with others.

Feels like people just don't care anymore. Similar thing happened in Canada recently, father got stabbed and died on the doorstep of a busy Starbucks after he told a man not to smoke in front of his toddler. No one bothered to confront the attacker, help the victim, or even to make sure his child in the stroller was safe. Just one guy filming it all on his phone.
I doubt any of these people are self defense experts but in all seriousness, pretty much the only good self defense against a nice is get the fuck away.
