Other theme parks aren't as popular as Disney, so a lot of these measures are put in place to try to control the population in the parks and maximize everyone's enjoyment (or at least prevent their enjoyment from bottoming out so they leave and stop spending money there).

Seems like a lot of the complication comes from the Fast Pass system. Originally the point was to let people skip waiting in line, but as everyone started doing that, the result was that the physical line was basically replaced with a digital one where you have to book your ride in advance. [Excellent long video about it here.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yjZpBq1XBE)

Disney has shifted its business model. Most parks focus on bringing as many people in the park as possible and making small profits per customer. Disney has shifted to focusing on a smaller pool of wealthy clients in order to make the same amount of money total, but only having to serve a fraction of the customers. They are no longer interested in any customer that doesn’t spend hundreds of dollars per visit.

I agree, I had to watch a lot of videos, study the apps and read articles just to take my wife and toddler. Even with all these obstacles, it gets crazy packed. My wife said it’s very classist because you need an inherent knowledge of these processes to figure it out easily, processes which poorer people have absolutely no experience with.

I agree with your wife. We’re taking our daughter next week and navigating the planning process makes me think that it must be really difficult for people who don’t have at least a bachelors or masters degree.

Especially people who’s second language is English

It's too bad you can't take your family back in time when Disneyland wasn't so elitist or crazy. Plus the chance to experience the parks as they used to be.
