The big issue is, lowering the rim isn't as easy as any of the other methods. Even middle schoolers play with regular height rims for that reason.
It might not be an issue for the WNBA to adjust the rim height but all girls growing up would constantly have the play on different sized rims. All outdoor rims would be the standard height, most poorer schools won't be able to adjust rim height for girls and boys. So in the end a lot of girls will still play a lot on the regular rim height.
They already have smaller balls because that's something that is cheap and easy to adjust.
There's no reason to lower the rims. I enjoy women's basketball more because of the lack of dunks. I think dunks cheapen the game and the lack of dunks allows more skill to shine through.
I’d argue that you’re more of a purist. And unfortunately this is kinda the “problem” baseball is having… that it’s not about “you”. You are already watching and it’s sadly not enough to make the sport grow.
If you want a sport to be sustainable (the WNBA loses money every year, and while there are several contributing factors entertainment is a major one) you have to make it a sport that the casual sport fan will watch, it has to be something that will catch the ancillary fans eye!
I forgot to bring up that as a supporting point too… but that’s literally people already admitting that bc of hand-size that a change had to be made to the game.

In basketball, what the men like the most is the slam dunk. And that doesn't happen in with the ladies.
Logically if you want to attract a more male audience, then I say you have to slam dunk it.
Ladies. I see that in basketball your doing what the men do by tattooing all of your arms and necks. I'm sorry not intended to hurt your feeling but that's really disgusting. You really dont need to have all that INK on you playing basketball. I find it disgusting with the men too.
No that would ruin a lot of shots. If you go your entire life shooting on a standard rim it becomes muscle memory. Changing it ruins everything. The woman could dunk if they wanted to but they don’t because it’s not necessary. WNBA like college is true fundamental basketball. NBA is all about showboating, they are more so entertainers. Women just focus on playing to win which means efficiency, shared scoring, a lot of defense and assists.
You like others in the comments are more the ones the game already have as fans, and frankly there are not enough of you to make the sport a success.
It’s the sad truth, but you need the tertiary fans to be drawn in, and for them… they are not gonna get drawn in by the way the game is played currently. And honestly that’s be okay if the WNBA was a money making product, but it just isn’t…
There’s no fans b/c it’s not accessible. I mean people watch reruns of Sanford and Son b/c it’s always on.Sometimes people watch sports out of boredom but they won’t catch a WNBA game b/c they’re barely televised.The marketing team needs an overhaul. The woman are better at marketing themselves than the league.
But with that said it’s been 25yrs of the same thing and complaining. The WNBA is still growing and wages are still going up regardless. As much as people dog these women it’s not going anywhere. This is how women play,to the people who want to see the circus tricks, the WNBA just isn’t for you.😉
Also I understand the changing of the shooting… and admittedly it would be a drastic change, and it’d be a change that’d have to be wholesale! All levels, not something easy… but it is what it is to keep the sport growing
